I so hope you get to keep Mist!
(I went to Auburn) We gotta come up with a better system than what we have now.Cruella de mom said:Hi everyone-
Thanks for all the input.
As for long runs - my longest will be 20 miles and I will only do 2 20 milers. I think however, our plan calls for longer midweek runs (8 & 10 miles) than everyone elses so I guess I am wracking a bit more mileage per week.

Or at least as right as they could under the current system. Until the NCAA and the university presidents decide they want a legitimate National Division I-A football championship under a playoff system, this will continue to get worse--- the system and formula are not fixable. That would require getting away from a multi-BILLION dollar coporate bowl system, so it'll probably take a while.....
It's going to be a looooong week. (Although it's pretty cool when my day-planner has "ESPN crew arrival" in it
That is cool! CAn you pencil me in that slot?solotraveler said:"ESPN crew arrival" in it)
OK, probably too soon for me to talk to anyone remotely connected to sports announcers right now.
BTW, I'll forgive you this once, as you are a transplant and just don't know any better.
Sorry about having to do teh indoor track for 45 laps. Yuck! Still not sure if that or TM is worse.
We tend to get a little overly worked up about the home team.

I certainly wasn't offended at all. I thought it was cool to see you that fired up about Michigan Carrie. Go Blue!!! Although, even though I'm a true Blue Michigan fan, I have to say that I think the BCS got it as right as they could this time too. There will always be some team that has an argument as long as you don't have a playoff. Also, I know that Michigan only lost to OSU by 3 in their house, but (I think I need to be very careful here) I have to admit it seemed like OSU could score whenever they wanted to in that game. Michigan had the #1 rank run defense, right? But OSU was reeling off long runs for TDs whenever it wanted to. What was up with that?wtpclc said:Note: If I have offended anyone with my football rants today, please forgive me. Is anyone else loving the Disboards Christmas decorations?? Okay, question time for the experts: do I run tonight or take a rest day? I can see the wisdom of both!! My IT band hurt pretty bad Saturday afternoon and evening after my run, but I have been icing my knee, take Tylenol and stretching and my knee/quad has not hurt Sunday or today. On one hand I would say rest because the rule of thumb says 3 days of rest per injury, but on the other hand I feel guilty resting!!
(Which is a miracle in itself!!
)
I cannot believe that you and Scott trained in the snow and ice. Wow!! I am so glad you stopped before you seriously hurt yourself. I have to tell you, after I stopped at mile 13 on Saturday, I kept questioning myself and asking how was I going to go from 16 to 20 miles. And then I remembered that last year you went from 16 to 20 miles and you survived the marathon just fine. Thanks for being an inspiration and a voice of reason.
). I was on Runners World and stumbled across this article about what happens when you don't have a good marathon and how to deal with it. Hopefully know will need it, but it was good for me to read, to kind of put the marathon in perspective.Mouse Skywalker said:Anyhow, I know I'm a transplant too, and just passed through Michigan for a little while. So maybe Carrie can forgive me for my heresy. Of course, no one better say any such thing about the Steelers...

It may have been me. I have always gone up to 24...and last year did a full marathon b/4 my taper started. This is just what I have always done.princessmomma said:Oh, sorry Cecelia, I must have you mixed up with someone else. I remember someone running 22 and 24 miles in their planning plans.
All the best to you! It won't be long and we will all be at the start line!![]()

Really off topic, I know, but how did you like Lido?? We are staying at the Holiday Inn on Lido Key Easter week--normally go to Siesta Key, just wondering!Minnie said:Has anyone here done any beach running or fast walking![]()
I ask this because over my 4 days on Lido Beach in Sarasota my DF and I spent hours walking and light jogging on the shore line close to the beach. Absolutely wonderful experience and my hip/back/leg felt better than it has in months or really in an entire year. I'm back to being sore today but the 12 hr travel (4hrs lay over in Atlanta) is probably part of of that.
I wonder what I could find in nasty old cold Iowa that would compare to that type of surface? Okay nothing as beautiful or inspiring as the ocean shore but still the surface had an amazing affect on my ability to exercise![]()
