Wk of Aug 5--WISH Walking/Running Club

patsBill, I never realized about the track thing. I am grateful you posted that. I was going to use our local HS track for measuring soon. Now Ive got to get it figured. You get to go to WDW w/o the rest of the fam? OOOoohh that is wicked and what fun. Im thinking it is a well deserved trip. We did that Minnie weekend. Great fun!

As to the track, its just something I was thinking about. Having been on the field part of the track & field team, it was never applicable to me. I do recall, however, that on some tracks the runners doing the mile would actually run slightly more than 4 laps. Maybe one of the real track veterans could verify.

Yes, I get to do the ToT and marathon weekend solo. I am WISHing for a great time at both. My wife has too many great attributes to list, unfortunately liking WDW isn't one of them. She tolorates our family vacations there about every other year for the sake of me and the kids (who all love it and have been asking since we returned a couple of weeks ago when we are going back). Well, they say opposites attract (I greatly enjoy WDW and have too many bad attributes to list).

Don't have time to read all the posts since I have been busy busy busy at work and away from my computer since we are in the middle of a quality standards audit and I am the quality standards coordinator so me and my supervisor have to be in the WHOLE audit. It is killing me to be away from the computer during the day!! LOL

Just want to say Happy Birthday to all who have had birthdays or will have birthdays soon.

Judy - Glad to hear you will be back out on the road in 2 weeks. I imagine you are excited. Just take it easy and don't over do it!!

I have been able to get in training though not outside as it has been 96-97 degrees here and with the heat index it feels OVER 100!!!!! So the treadmill has been where I have been running. Thankfully my dad fixed my air and it pumps out colder now. On Monday I ran/walk 2 miles and yesterday I ran a 5k (on the treadmill) and then walked another mile. I had started watching Charlotte's Web (the 2006 movie) on Monday and by the time I was done with the 5k it was almost over so I figured I could walk another mile!! LOL

Hope everyone has a GREAT day.

I played flute in school and was awful - always last chair. I'm not very musical. :confused3

My two girls can sing and my oldest played guitar last year, but I stopped paying for lessons cause she would never practice. Her guitar is sitting out in her room, if I see her fool around with it I'll take her back to lessons. Actually, I think my youngest is showing interest. She takes the guitar and sits in her room playing with it and singing. Kinda funny to hear the songs she comes up with. She is 6. :rotfl:

I did twirl a mean baton back in the day. :lmao: Maybe I can twirl for the WISH band? :scared1:

Happy training today. It's a rest day for me.

Here is a picture of how the hats and visors turned out. Lynne mentioned, if there is enough interest, doing another order in the fall for WDW weekend to give others a chance to get them if they are interested.

hey there everyone. I again have to say I am sorry for not keeping up.

August is just crazy for me so please don't kick me off the team.

Hope you are all doing great

I did 4K last night heat was crazy so I used my TM.

I did my mid-week run (6-miles) today in a sticky 81-degree/100% humidity steady rain. :umbrella: I actually ran a decent pace in spite of being drenched from head to toe in rain and sweat. The good thing was that there was not a whole lot of pain in my knees or feet which was bothering me lately.

My wife signed us up for tennis lessons (3 weeks) and we had a lesson last night. It was 96 degrees when we started and we ran around for 2 hours. I know this is probably not recommended for training but it is fun (as long as I don't get hurt). However, it's probably why my knees have been sore lately.

By the time this summer is over I should be in pretty good shape to run the Philly 1/2 marathon. I still keep wondering if I should try the full Philly marathon in November even though WDW is in Jan. I think I'll play it by ear for another month.

good morning all,

I am back from our last minute trip to Disney. Wowzie, was it hot! The kids and I got up early and got all the major rides and attractions in at opening and then left the parks around lunch time. I just couldn't believe the people coming in around noon, dragging small children! Or worse, babies in strollers...:sad2: People, it is 95 degrees today with a humidex of 106!

Anyway, we were fine and the kids had a great trip. We stayed at Beach Club Villas for three days, which were wonderful, kids loved the pool. Then when DH left for Frankfurt, the kids and I moved over to Coronado for 3 days, this was my first time there. I requested a building close to the bus stop, the main pool and the restaurants. We were given 8B, which was a pretty good location. I have to admit, I don't love this resort...in fact, I HATED Pepper Market, just don't like the way it is set up. I guess it was the fact I was traveling with 2 hungry children and having to stand and wait for your food at the different stations really stressed me out!

The highlight of our trip was Soarin'! This was the first time we had the chance to ride this ride and we road it for our first ride and our last ride of the vacation.

Now that I am back home I need to get caught up with with my running. I didn't run once at Disney! Planning on 6 today, and 16 this weekend.

Back later today to catch up with everyone!

Colleen

Hi WISH team! Just dropping by to say "hi" and see how everyone is!

I did get 3 miles on the treadmill last night, and then took pump class for an hour. I was pretty tired after that.....but I really should have gotten 5 miles done.....oh well!

Hockeychic: I don't think you will be kicked out! You were good just dropping in!

Colleen: I really enjoyed the Soarin too! It was worth the long wait we had! Welcome back!

Nepatsfan: You are certainly doing a great job with your training! You will have a blast at Tot in October!

Everyone else have a great day, and stay cool.

Beth

Morning folks!

Last night was a great boot camp class. A lot of core work, and some running (sprints and hill sprints). My booty is hurting today.... Tonight I may be joining the run group for some speed work which should be fun. Right now it is really overcast though, and there are chances of thunderstorms, so if that is happening I will NOT be outside doing speedwork. If it if bad weather I'll probably shoot for yoga tonight, then a 4 miler over lunch tomorrow.

Forgot to add, thanks Leana for the heads up on AAA rates for marathon weekend.

In case anyone was interested:

POP was $65.60
PORiverside was $119
POFQ all rooms sold out, but if you have a room AAA can be applied.

Hey! A musical WISH scream team! :yay: I can add the Mounted Troops! ;)

Twelve more days until I can start training again. Man, am I ready! :woohoo:

We shorted our January trip a little. We were planing on staying seven nights and doing the whole parks thing again but since we are doing that in October I thought it was a bit much. So we changed it to five nights and one park. That's enough I think. Charlie loves Epcot so that's the one park we will do. Right after breakfast at the Boardwalk on Monday. We'll just "trot" over to the park. OK, gimp. :scared:

Kristi - I think it would best if no one but my podiatrist saw my feet right now...

Sunny - Can we vote for you to be a Global Hero? :thumbsup2 I got the DIS-owned thing right away and I thought it was very clever of you!

Jen - Ohh! That makes me so mad! Those punks!

Shan - Oh no, what have you done??? As if I don't already spend enough time at work DISing now I have PodCasts to listen too! Ha ha ha! :rotfl: Thanks!!

Jackie - WOW! :thumbsup2 You're doing fabulous without me!

Mel - Oh Mel! Cumulus, Nimbus..... :rotfl2:

Tricia - Thanks! 12 more days and I can lace up! Say, was your name always in your siggie and I just never noticed?? Duh! :rolleyes1

Kathy
- Oh man, now I WISH I did order a hat. I'd be interested if you want to do another order. :)

Kim - Don't worry. Not only will we NOT kick you off...if you are gone too long we'll go looking for you. :upsidedow

Carrie - We miss you here but I know you're busy gettin' glam right about now! :goodvibes

Colleen - Welcome back! CSR doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I don't know why. But glad you guys got to try Soarin'! :yay:

Leana - You do so much I can't even keep up with you! You must be in fabulous shape! You go girl! :woohoo:

Hi Team! I'll try to do some catch-up (not catsup) here; sorry if I miss anyone!

I ran 5 miles yesterday after work. It was hazy, hot and humid out there. I struggled to get my steps, but I ended up finishing in 48:49 min/9:46 mpm pace. It wasn't pretty, but someone said tough runs make tough runners right?
I think I've heard that somewhere ... :scratchin Sorry to hear you won't be at WDW in '08 but it sounds like a good decision. MCM is on my list of races to try!

Anyone willing to fly to Boston to dump cold water at 6am every morning?
I think I need the same treatment!

Here is a picture of how the hats and visors turned out. Lynne mentioned, if there is enough interest, doing another order in the fall for WDW weekend to give others a chance to get them if they are interested.
You can count me in for a visor!

Kristi - I tried to record my running on a calendar but didn't keep it up. Maybe investing in a journal would get me to do it

WWDave - Disposable shoes?!? All shoes are disposable; the only difference is how long you can use them before disposing of them, right?

Krista - I've thought about trying the tm/outdoor combo, but think the difference b/t the a/c and heat would make me sick.

Beth - :worship: to you for the Pilates. That's tough stuff!

Kim - Did the birthday cake come before or after the 4K?

Cam - I've had a bday without cake and even though I'm not a big cake fan it was a little disappointing!

Jen - Hang in there; things have got to get better!

DreamBeliever - Glad you beat the storms home!

Sunny - You already ARE a global hero!

Stephanie - I'm with you on the treadmill b/c of the heat. I can't wait for it to break!

Maggie - I guess since you took the boys for Italian Ice they must have gotten their room clean ...

Shan - Low energy for you too, huh? I feel like a giant slug!

Jackie - That same heat has beaten me down and driven me inside to the dreadmill.

Mel - Hope the new shoes work out!

Cam - 14 blocks in a suit?!? That's a LR!

PatsBill - I'm not bringing my kids either to marathon weekend, but I am bringing DH (he's doing the half)

Tricia - PD for your audit!

Kim - Crazy August? I'm sure September will be better ... yeah right!

Lou - I would LOVE some rain to run in!

Colleen - Sounds like a good touring plan for WDW in the heat. Glad you had fun!

Leana - That boot camp would kick my butt! You go, girl!

JUdy - 12 days! Woo hoo! Hope it will cool down a bit for you by then.

Today I ended up on the treadmill. I did a mile at 10:00, a mile at 9:40, a mile at 9:30 and .25 mile at 7:40. It felt pretty good, but I really want to get back outside!!! Can't wait for fall!

Gotta run the dog to the vet; she is so itchy she's scratched herself raw.

Happy training, all! :)
Renee

Lynne mentioned, if there is enough interest, doing another order in the fall for WDW weekend to give others a chance to get them if they are interested.

Did Lynne also mention YOU doing another order?

Wow some of you guys are really getting the miles in despite the heat.

I did my 4 mile hill route but started and stayed at a comfortable pace. Still at the top of the last long hill about 3.5 miles I was feeling the heat. Normally I'm a little sad when the walk is over, not today.

I agree that the Pepper Market is the one sore spot with the Coranado. We stayed there last time and the people who do the cooking and serving were not the normal "Disney" friendly. We had a lot of problem with our room key/dinning card, either mine or Erica's would stop working. We had never had this problem at other resorts.

We are trying the Swan since we really wanted to be at the Epcot area but couldn't see spending the cash for a week in Oct and then 2 weeks in January at an Epcot resort. Swan is costing $169 a night and the others is Epcot are way more.

I hope the Swan is a pleasent experience. We want to be in walking distance to everything. Especially we want to be able to walk home from all the races.

AAAAHHH Sweet Redemption!:cool1: Today: 8 miles in 1:12!:cool1: Now I can get out of the dumps b/c of that stonker on Sat.--really did a number on the ole mind! I decided to try out the indoor track instead of the TM today. Yes, I did 96 laps!:scared1: Was a little dizzy by the end, but actually enjoyed it more than the TM. Now, we'll see about the 16 on Friday--planning on 8 on the track and 8 on the TM.

Colleen--Welcome Back! sounds like a wonderful trip!

Judy--we also shortened our trip in Jan--it was going to be 7+ days, now it's down to 5. However, we're gonna try to squeeze 2 1/2 park days in--Sunday in EPCOT might be DH and I sitting in Germany with a beer and FIL and his girlfriend toting the kidlets around for us!

Alrighty--need to get off of here--working this afternoon and need to shower and get dressed! Have a great Hump Day all!

Just a quickie post....it's so hard to keep up!

Cam (and others): Happy Birthday, belated though it may be!

Jen: It doesn't happen very often but sometimes I get the same treatment. I'm a "big" girl and I think sometimes people find it amusing to see me really hauling it. So occasionally cars will swerve towards me and screech their tires. With my Ipod I don't hear them until they are right on top of me and then I literally jump 20 feet! Very, very immature but it gives them a good laugh. Of course it's infuriating, but I pity them for having nothing better to do with their time. Just hang in there and know that you are the better person.

Judy: sorry, but I would bet that my feet look worse than yours right now. In fact, we are going on vacation this weekend and I usually treat myself to a pedicure before leaving. My runner's feet (OK, walkers feet) are so bad I'm too embarassed to have anyone work on them. Hope you're out and about real soon.

Greetings TEAM: :surfweb:

Thanks so much for all your support on my decision not to run Disney this year. I must admit I'm really going to miss not being there with you guys. I was really looking forward to the WISH team activities - like the Friday night dinner I was determined not to miss this year.

OK, I just have time for a quick post. I did 8 miles this morning in 1:18.55 min/9:39 mpm pace. It was soooooo humid this morning, and I was soaked with sweat.

Okay, so I had to post this here b/c no one else really cares. I made some ADRs for Jan. Makes it seem all the more real--Friday night 11th, Ohana for dinner; Sat. morn. 12th, Cape May for breakfast (after cheering on our 1/2 teammates!); Sat. night Spoodles for early dinner; Sun night 13th, Rose and Crown dinner! So exciting! The planning is half the fun!

Stephanie - what time are you heading to Spoodles at? Maybe we'll see you there! I think I booked somewhere around 5 or 6 pm. It seemed like a good post-half, pre-full restaurant to me..!!

Renee: The cake came before the 4K so is that good or bad;) problem is there is still 1/2 the cake left in the fridge....hope the kids eat it all up before I get home from work.

Stephanie and Leana I haven't made any ressies yet....I better get on that, we can't seem to make up our minds on where and what we want to do.

MSDave WTG on your 8M

Thanks all for not kicking me out. I have done better today, I just cut back on my working.....:lmao: :rolleyes1 don't tell anyone

Kim
