Hey WISHers! Sorry I've been off the boards, and offline, recently. A little LTO, mostly in the form of illness and migraines. No surfing for me when all I see is surrounded by a cool if somewhat painful aura of bright light.
I'll be checking in somewhat sporadically, as I'm trying to limit my computer time and work--sigh--needs to take priority. So spotty responses for a couple of days.
Mel: Woo hoo on registering for your first duathlon.
Bryan: Good luck on your first 5K!
Tricia: It's cool that you're enjoying, and feeling motivated by, your group's long runs. It does seem like they're good or increasing pace and/or running time. And I wholeheartedly agree with you about getting the miles in, regardless of the pace. Foundation building, right?
Becky: Yay for taper and good luck at the DL 1/2. It sounds as if you need even more good luck for the ear-piercing event. Just think, your girls will get their own bling. (Maybe you should treat yourself, as well?)
Racey Tracey: Ditto with Becky--but I'l give you the Hallelujah, too! I truly empathize with your headache/migraine pains. I hope you don't get them often. Great pace with your short, fast walk.
Julie: Good luck with the hamstring injury. It sounds like you're recovering well, as indicated by the 4.6 miler.
CarolA: Congrats on the new job and your successful Peachtree race. I envy your trip to Paris. Your Galloway group sounds like fun, much like Tricia's feelings, and training seems to be going well. A new home office, too? Are you going into business for yourself, as well?
Ang: Are you training for your half? Huh? Huh? I know you wanna!
Laurie: I'm sorry you're not going to be at the January fun. Your 24-hour gym sounds very promising, though. I've always wondered who might be there at, say, 3 in the morning. At one point I'd have been tempted to find out what a workout was like, post-bar closing. Let us know, huh?
Shan: Congrats on starting week two and for having a training buddy. You're not crazy, she's just not hooked yet. It might be almost like starting all over as a new runner, but I'm sure your body will remember and recover quicker than you think!

Your excitement, complete with Rocky moments, is palpable. I didn't realize you had more surgery coming.
Krista: I've missed lots of the Olympics (no tv-watching--heresay in my household!), but am trying to catch up on DVR. So many channels.

Congrats to you and Carter for putting in the miles! It really sounds like you're making strong progress on the WOs. Oh, and Carter is already a looker, he is! Oh, and I love that Carter is naturally drawn to the lime green. (Aren't we all?

)
Howard:
to your quick--and smart--recovery from your hip-flexor strain. Cautious is good. And good luck on tonight's 5K. Run smart, if not easy.
Jackie: I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing pain on your runs and hope things improve. If mid-week runs are too exhausting, do you think you could walk your mid-week training days?

(Or do you prefer the drill sergeant approach--I go both ways.)
Angie: Yay for finishing week one of your marathon training. No pain is good (and tender is okay--just take it easy). Congrats on the Bahamas cruise and your first vacation in 2 years.
Jennifer: I know I missed your race results, but congratulations. It sounds as if you've designed a very careful transition plan to the 10K distance, and with a good pace. With your swimming and gymnastics background it sounds as if you are an all-around athlete. And sometimes it's smarter to do what you can do, and run strong, than to push yourself into exhaustion, bad form, or injury. Your instincts sound strong and spot-on to me.
Steve: You're a good WISHer and a great Dad. Priorities, you've got them! Great job on the 10-miler, and I'm sure you'll lose your baby weight soon. (And perhaps in an easier way than Krista did with her 20#.

)
Lynnda: WTG with your 2 miles and swimming. It's good to hear that your PF is manageable. Doesn't watching the Olympics count as a sport? Aloha Jeff thinks so.
Aloha Jeff: You, go overboard with an addiction? Never!

Btw, is there an Olympic ice-cream sponsor? Are you SURE you don't want to post pics of the Waikiki sights?
Lisa: WTG on your 8 miles. I didn't realize you hadn't been running that long. How cool is it that you can return to the scene of the 5K crime and relieve that first, heady moment!
AmyK: What's your planned r/w interval plan for the 1/2, do you think. And from another thread, thank you for volunteering for the full!
Dave: I hope your calf and hammy don't give you lingering problems.
Liz: Congratulations on your first 1/2. You finished and you finished strong. The course looked beautiful, and your description of the finish really made me feel like I was there. It sounds as if it's a race everyone needs to do. (And what's better than Penguin bling?)
Leana: Congratulations on finishing your first tri! Your photos are great! Your biking never fails to amaze me (and the other legs and transitions too). Yay for your 5K PR on the tri. You're definitely a tri (and can-do) athlete. What kind of bike do you have?
Angie (P): In addition to what's been said--I like runningwarehouse but didn't know about the WISH discount

--I know Joe's New Balance Outlet sells retired NB. I've dealt with them and like their service.
Kristi: I think it's more of a testament to our dedication as athletes when we get our WOs in when we don't have time/energy/motivation than when you do. So you should be very proud of yourself!
Terri: Have a great vacation--and a well-deserved one!
Frank: Can you believe the Olympic U.S. men's football team and their bad-boy, bullying behavior. Karma, baby, karma! Good luck with your sub-90 half this October. Are you on-track in your training?
Carrie: 40 minutes, but nothing spectacular? Hah! You are a triathlete: a biker, swimmer, runner. The total package. I'm a little jealous you got to hang out with WISHers last night. Sounds like a party to me.
Sandy/Eeyore: What a great RR. Thanks for taking the time to detail the support WISHers give each other on the course. I try explaining it to other people, and they don't always "get it." Your RR makes it clear why we come here and stay here.

And I was especially taken with your descriptions of Susie's spirit, your FDIL's strength, and of course your own triumphs on the course. I admire you all.
Roller Coaster Steve: Great speed work and XT. I love that you're running to DL and have your mileage countdown. Highly motivating!
As for me: FWIW, I did manage to get my Saturday LR in before I realized I was sick and not just tired. Sunday was not pleasant, in part because I thought I was just having a crappy rest day. Also, I'm not a band geek. So tone deaf that they discouraged me from joining band--in elementary school!

(Funny, but true.)
