Krista: Carter is adorable! I am sure Momma and Daddy are both very proud (as you should be). Tell Carter that Uncle Howard can't wait for his first squeezy hug.

I wasn't in the marching band. I played violin for a little over two years in middle school though and was in the orchestra. I hope that counts for something.

Krista - Carter is absolutely adorable! Great job on the walking.

Howard - Congratulations on nursing the hip flexor back to health!

Carol - You know how to celebrate! Congratulations on the job, by the way.

I didn't do any band in school, but DD is in her 4th year of marching band this year. Flute first yr, piccolo second yr, bass drum next 2 yrs. I am an official "band mom," so I'll have to play that role in our WISH band!

Ran 12 miles yesterday with the group. Still fighting various pains, so this week I'm concentrating on getting enough sleep and eating well in hopes that things will improve. I also HAVE to get in mid-week runs, so PLEASE keep after me to make sure I do that!

Jackie

I'm sure there is room for the piano, violin, bus driver and Band Parent in the WISH family band.

Finally got rid of my headache, it got so bad, probably a migraine. I was having problems focusing my eyes. Tried the ice pack for about 20min on the head and that didn't work. Next was Advil and Excedrin and drinking more water. Then next was standing in the shower with hot water running over my head. Finally that cut it!! Felt much better after that.

Watching some Olympics. I am an Olympic Junkie!! Let's see today I watched Beach Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Water Polo, Syncro Diving, Women's Road Race, Swimming, Gymnastics, not sure what else. Also NASCAR inbetween.

Later, Tracy

GOOD EVENING TEAM

WARNING - MUSHY POST!!:rotfl:

No not really that bad I just love you guys. It is so nice to go to a place that is so supportive of each other and supports each other in common goal no matter what level you are at.

Ok, "nuff said". I'm sorry I still do not have time to respond individually but a few things from memory as I scanned since my last post:

Krista OOOOOOHHHHHH MY GOODNESS!!!! Makes me want to have another one, don't EVER tell DH I said that :confused3 So cute, and good for you getting out there that is awesome. Me, I wallowed in my extra 60 lbs for WAYYYY tooo long before I did anything about it. I can't WAIT to see you guys in January.
Howard I'm glad you are better so quick and you are rocking as usual :yay:
Shan I TOTALLY understand your frustration, I really do  It is so frustrating to know that you had worked so hard to get to a certain point then feel like it was all for nothing because you are back at square one!!!! I hope you can rest in the knowledge that you have been to that place before and you WILL get there again (that was as much for me as it was for you :) )
Laurie  HI!!!! Good to see you around here.
Judy I have thought about volunteering for 1/2 might bring DS with me just need to be sure of what our plans are first ;)

As for me I finished week one of our official marathon training, our long run this week was only 6, but I finished with 17 miles this week which is the most I have done since MINNIE but this is also the most pain free I have been since then too :dance3: i have been a bit tender today but did my yoga and ice and rest and I AM NOT GOING TO LET THE DOUBT SLIP IN!!!

I tried to do 4 on Friday night but got chased home at 2 by a very nasty thunderstorm, complete with lightning that I SPRINTED home from and I was afraid I hurt my leg but it held up ok.

On the band front I was part of the Drill Team and loved our BAND!!! My mom still brags about all the parades and 1/2 time shows  DS 12 is really good at drums already and we went to his first concert last spring and I am looking forward to many more.

BTW don't think I have shared with my TEAM yet, we have not gone on our summer vacation yet as we are taking a cruise to the BAHAMAS on labor day :dance3: Yes I am a little psyched. I have not had a vacation in 2 years. I finished Engineering school (which took 6 years :scared1: ) a year a go and went straight to work full time. I am so excited we are going to have an AMAZING TIME!!! But little worried we are supposed to do our first 10 the weekend we come back, nothing like carb loading on a cruise!!! :rotfl: The term fat and lazy comes to mind!!!

Angie--You have just given me tons of hope! You really gained 60lbs when you were pregnant? Because you are so tiny, it makes me feel like I will be able to get back down to my pre-pregnancy size and then some. :goodvibes Great job and congrats on completing week 1 of marathon training. I can't wait to cheer for you on January 11th!

Shan--I just want to give you a big HUG! It's wonderful that you are able to start training earlier than you originally thought, but I'm so sorry that you might need another surgery after the half. Is the additional surgery a definite or just a maybe? Crossing my fingers that you won't need it after all. :wizard:

Tracy--Yep, I watch just about every Olympic event, even the sports I don't really like. I, of course root for the USA first, Canada second, and then Great Britain third. I'm anxious to see the men's 4x100 relay tonight after France was talking smack earlier today.

Don't forget, the women's marathon is this Saturday at 7:30 and the men's marathon is 8/23 at 7:30

Howard--I passed your message onto Carter. :goodvibes

Okay, I have to go find some lotion for my extremely dry hands, washing bottles in scalding hot water every day is killing my skin!!

Hi everyone!

Another former band geek here. I was flute player. I think my participation in Show Choir is more dorky than band.

Tracey, I'm an Olympic addict too. I'm a former swimmer and gymnast (although never near Olympic level in either). Between that and my new running obsession, I want to watch nearly everything.

Krista, Carter is adorable! Already out on the road, I'm impressed!

I'm working on upping the mileage this week as I prepare for my transition in about 8 weeks from 5k to 10k. I did 4.25 miles in 37 minutes (8:30, 9, 8:30, 9; 2 [last 1/4]) on a rather hilly route. I probably could of gone for 5 but didn't want to risk it. My goal is to be doing 6.5 to 7 miles per run the week prior to the 10k. I think I'll be shooting for 8:30-9 minute pace, but that may change as we get closer.

Jennifer

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I was still alive. I've been a bad WISH team member over the past few weeks, and I'll admit I haven't had time to keep up with this weekly thread (or my own team's thread for that matter).

The good news is that Krista and I are slowly learning how to adjust to life with the little man in the house. :) I promise to try to keep up here, but I know it won't be as much as I should be.

Training's been going decently for me, considering all the hecticness we've had over the past month. I ended up spraining my ankle two weeks ago (jumped over a mulch bed running to get the mail--don't ask :sad2: ), but I'm slowly recovering from that. I managed to get in a 10 miler yesterday, so I felt good about that. My main goal right now is to lose the 10-15 pounds I tacked on since we found out Carter was joining our family 9 months ago. How is it that Krista has the baby and suddenly drops 20 pounds, but it doesn't just fall off me, too?? :confused3

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Great job with all your training and hope everyone has a great week. I"ll try to check back in soon!

Steve

Krista and Steve - Carter is absolutely adorable!!!!! :goodvibes Great job on the walking, Krista!!! :cool1: I'm so impressed - at 3 wks pp, I was not thinking of moving very much with either baby. I was way more focused on sleep! ;)

Yea for all the band geeks!!! :thumbsup2 I started piano lessons at age 5, added flute in 5th grade, and bassoon in 9th grade, and was a certified band geek (3 band classes my senior year.) I also was a bassoon major at FSU, and taught junior high and high school band/chorus/orchestra/AP theory for 9 years before staying home with the boys. I guess I couldn't just walk away, so I'm now the music ministry assistant at church. We could so start up a WISH band in addition to our scream teams during marathon weekend!!! :rotfl:

I do actually have training to post (yea!) - after fighting with a PF flare-up, I managed 2 miles walking on Friday, and swam a mile yesterday. I have been glued to the olympics today, so it became a rest day... :rolleyes1

Keep up the great work WISHers!!!

--Lynnda

What the, Carter, you're not wearing your Lime GREEN??? :lmao: Nice photos Krista & Steve.

My Olympics addiction... NBC, MSNBC, CSNBC, USA, and two laptops running live video. Yeah, I'm a sports junkie. :happytv:

I didn't want to go overboard and get the pay per view coverage.

Good morning everyone!! No band geek here, I did, um, flags if I have to admit it. My sister was a majorette. After my sophomore year of HS I gave up flags for the glory of being a football manager. Ah, good times, good times....:rolleyes1

Krista and Steve: OMG what a cutie Carter is. I agree with Angie, makes me want another just don't tell my DH either. If we had started at 18 instead of 28 we would probably have 10!!

Angie: So good to hear you in better spirits. I got down too after seeing some horrible photos from my last race but I finally found a good one and I am feeling much better now. Great job with the workouts!

Shan: I admire you so for starting over again. You are an inspiration to us and others around you I am sure!! Keep up the good work!

Everyone else: Well not as much chattiness as usual over the weekend but I still don't have time to respond to everyone!! Lets just say great work everyone way to go!!! :cheer2:

As for me, I got my 8 in yesterday and kept it at a nice steady pace averaging 10:36 mpm. I was going for a steady state fat burn long-haul workout and I achieved it. I was thinking on my run that this October will be my 3rd time doing the 5K that started all this madness. Just 3 years and how far I have come. Sometimes I wish I had started running sooner but I have to love where I am at this point. Good friends, great miles and so many great races to come!!! :flower3:

Tracy--Yep, I watch just about every Olympic event, even the sports I don't really like. I, of course root for the USA first, Canada second, and then Great Britain third. I'm anxious to see the men's 4x100 relay tonight after France was talking smack earlier today.

Don't forget, the women's marathon is this Saturday at 7:30 and the men's marathon is 8/23 at 7:30

Oh Yeah....Oh Yeah... The Men's Relay team got it in the end BABY!!!!!! GOLD for the USA!!!!! #2 for Phelps.
*Note to self (for the French): Make sure you can back up your smack talk. hehe

Tracy

Krista UMM yes many late night taco bell runs and thinking that I could just continue to eat whatever I wanted added up ( I was very young and dumb) :rotfl: My husband likes to tell people I looked like a line backer.:lmao: Not to mention I did not have anything to do with exercising. Many salads and many cardio classes later I lost it all and in the process became a runner!!! So you are already so far ahead of the game :)

hey everyone! thought i'd check in over here since it's been awhile! I've just been moving along with C25K, I start week 5 this week. I've planned out my training for the 1/2, I will be following the MfM run/walk plan.

Krista Carter is adorable. And that's so great that you have already been out walking! I waited way too long (almost 7 months). My baby is only 13 months old and those pictures give me baby fever!

Oh, I am a band dork too, clarinet!

:cheer2:  everyone! Have a good Monday!

Thanks Lisa. I don't really feel like an inspiration right now, though! You should have seen me out there this morning! :sad2: :lmao:

Angie, you really amaze me! Really, you rock! You should not have any doubts! :thumbsup2

Krista, yep - more surgery. Thankfully, it won't be nearly as involved. Best case, I'll be out for a couple days, worst a week. It is all revision work. My belly button needs to be fixed and I have developed some odd ledge over my incision that has to go! It actually sticks out and you can see it under my clothes! :scared1: It will definitely be after the Donald cause I have to wait for all my swelling to stop. That is another story... :rotfl:

Krista and Steve - Carter is so cute, congratulations!!

I had my first Tempo run yesterday. Week 2 Phase 2 of Daniels' plan. I haven't run a mile faster then 8:15 since last November. I had been nervous about this run for a couple of weeks. Since I didn't know what kind of shape I was in I planned on running it by feel and HR. The forecast for this morning was 65 degrees. When I walked out the door it was 73 degrees with light rain.

I ran the tempo miles on a rolling bike path that has the mileage marked. Ran 3 miles easy to warm up then ran 3 miles at Tempo effort. Mile 1- 6:49,165 HR /Mile 2- 6:53, 168 HR /Mile 3- 6:59, 170 HR / Then a 4 mile cool down. My max HR is 184.

I am very happy. I wouldn't have been surprised if I had been 30-45 seconds slower. I was pushing the upper limits of my tempo HR but it was hot and very humid. The pace felt fast but relaxed. It didn't feel like a VO2max effort.

I ran 7.5 miles this morning at recovery pace, 9:07 mpm, 134 HR. My calf and hammy are sore so I will just keep running at recovery pace until I feel better.

David

Hello everyone!

Krista - Carter is such a cutie! And yay for you getting back out walking so soon.

Tracy - WTG for getting in the 13 miles and yuck on the feeling bad after. Heat and humidity can really sap it out of ya.

Been watching the Olympics every night here, too. Checking between channels as to who's carrying what and when. Even using the pic-in-pic on the big screen to keep an eye on other channel.

Big band geek here. Played piano since I was 10, concert band in HS along with flags for marching. Continued for a year into college. Plus DS has been playing sax since 6th grade so spent 7 yrs being a band mom including the WDW band trip in HS. Never realized when I was in HS band we were that busy until DS started.

As for me, did my first half yesterday!! Slow - 3:20 - but I'm a walker and my goal was to finish. Actually felt good coming across the line, never felt like I couldn't keep going. I'm working on a RR and will get it into that thread soon.

Took today off as a pre-emptive strike. Fortunately just a little muscle soreness. Nothing I didn't expect.

Ok, off to finish report and catch up around here.
