Scott's World - Well I did a sort of "tempoish" run last night. I pushed the pace just slightly, a little faster than my normal weekday pace but well below my race pace. I felt like I had a good workout afterward and that's what I was aiming for, so I'm happy with what I did. Ended up covering the 5 miles in 43:48 (8:46). We have some storms predicted for tonight, so I'm not sure that I'll be able to bike to the FC but I will do some XT in the form of the elliptical and/or stationary bike.
Scott:

Wonder Twin powers activate...in the form of STATIONARY BIKE...in the form of ELLIPTICAL.

Sorry...that wording just cracked me up. Sooo...as for our adventures in WDW

maybe we should bring the video camera and do a video journal of our escapades across the world.
Tracy: Mount Trashmore is MUCH lovelier than I imagined. Thanks for the picture!!
Claire: Hope that 10-12 miler went well for you this morning!!!

I have to say that your diet sounds excellent! My skin has been itchy...wonder if I need more healthy oils in my diet? That's a great tip!!!
Tracey, Christa, Angie: OMG...I had a REALLY brutal 5 Miler on Tuesday. Must be something in the air.

I just hope that it means we're all going to have GREAT runs this weekend!!!!

Hang in there...tough runs make tough runners! (just keep repeating that).
Jen: You need a

... I cannot believe MORE snow!!!!
Maura: Good choice! I *KNOW* how hard it is to hold off on running, especially with events looming, but trust me and take this from someone who was way too stubborn to do that a few years ago...it's THE BEST thing you can do for yourself right now!

Don't stress...your pace has been great, you've trained hard, a week off doing XT will not cause you to lose any fitness. And I also agree about the massage...might be exactly what you need..just get a good recommendation from someone you trust!
TxAng: Thanks for sharing the pic of your little bundle of joy! I was with my 5 month old niece this week and babies are just the sweetest things (when they aren't crying LOL). Nothing can bring a smile to your face like a sweet little baby!
Leana: Awesome that you saw the flick!!! I've been really wanting to catch it myself, Scott and I plan to see it sometime in the future!!! How's that bike treating you? I can't wait to get mine off the trainer and on the road...now I'm feeling whimpy seeing how you rode yours in the snow!
Firedancer: Cool avatar...nice way to combine DMB w/ Disney

. And dude...you are smokin' fast. WTG on that killer Half Marathon time!!! I have a feeling you'll hit your 1:30 goal with no problem!!!! Oh...and Welcome

.
Craig: OK mister...what's all this talk I'm reading...YOU know and I know that our training ups and downs don't necessarily translate to the race. I still have faith that you are going to crush the Minnie and really finish strong. So don't quit on those sub-9 aspirations yet. Remember...you were JUST sick not too long ago...we don't just recover immediately after that. Overall your speedwork (when you were feeling well) has been excellent and right on target. But..with all that said...I'm not sure I can hit my time goals for the Minnie either. The runs this week have been BRUTAL for me. I feel like sub 9 is a big push for me right now. Regardless...it will be nice to feel good on that stretch of the course...hopefully I'll remember that feeling during the marathon in January

As for me: Ugh...Tuesday's 5 mile trail run was pretty rotten. I had just done a 1.5 hour pilates session with my trainer after teaching a class. My body was just not feeling the run. I set out on the trail and planned a 50 minute out and back. Turns out the pace wasn't awful (9:41 mpm) considering I was on trail...BUT goodness gracious did my body HATE me. It was a struggle to finish the full 50. Yesterday I did a 4 Mile Tempo/Hill Workout. I started out with a 2 mile tempo run at a 9:20 pace (never quite hit my tempo pace..just had a hard time getting the speed going.). Afterwards I did a mile of hill repeats and was pretty pleased that my last repeat got me up the 50 ft 1/10 mile hill at 46 seconds which is a personal best, especially at the end of a hill workout. After that I did a slow and easy run/walk for one mile to flush the legs out a bit. Today is an XT day...just taught my Pilates tone class and did the class along with them. I think I'll hop on the bike trainer here this afternoon too!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!!
