Wk of April 27 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Hey all! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. LTO big time. I'm now practically working full time, and have been offered another job for the fall. Not running much, but still getting some cardio minutes in!

Good luck to all those at the Minnie! WISH I could be there, but I will be in spirit!:thumbsup2

Scott--and I hope not everything "stays in Disney" b/c those of us at home need some of the juicy bits as well!

AmyBeth...sign up before it fills up!! You have plenty of fitness! :)

Have fun this weekend!

Hello WISHers!!!

Michelle--WELCOME!!! Another Warrior! Yay!

Bride MIchelle--yay for Dress Shopping!!! That is exciting!

Frank--Italy? I am jealous! I definately want some pics!

Karen--What a great friend you are! Helping move someone else's DD states away! :) I think that counts as XT!

Deb...Yay for getting in that 10 miler. I LOVED your posts! I can only image 3 hrs of sitting after the 10 miler. ouch! I really hope you guys get something worked out soon for your place of dwelling!

Cam...9 hrs in the office on a Sunday. Yuk! How are you supposed to pack for the Minnie when you are working? really! :goodvibes Not too much longer now!

Christa... for your mom being done w/ Chemo!!! :dance3:

Angie...GIRL! I'm so glad to see you are RESTING! and STRETCHING! and will do the Minnie SLOWLY! Just take it easy!

Tracy...Don't you just love DWTS. Too bad Christian hurt is arm. That must have been so frustrating!

Cecilia... :grouphug: We'll be thinking about you this weekend! I know your dad is so proud of you.

Carrie... Yay on your 30 min. What is this 5 min rule? What happened to the 10 min rule??? hmmmm????

Claire...Ms Hot Hands! :lmao: then rock climbing. ouch!

Leana...Safe travels. I don't leave til Friday. Not fair! :goodvibes Could you swing by eye 2 eye and pick up my shirts on the way to the airport? just kidding! lol!

Morgan... I hope we get extra pixie dust too! Great job on your 3 miler!

Shan...I'm so sorry you are still hurting. Please take care of yourself and listen to the doctor. You will get it figured out.

Betsy...I take notes. Seriously. I would NEVER remember what I wanted to say to everyone.

Scott...TOMORROW! Have a great time and travel safe!!! Great job getting all those workouts.

Amy...Did you say bears? What??? I'll tell you that you won't drown! Register girl! You can do it! I have 100% Confidence in you! Undertrained. Did I read that right? That word does not even go in the same sentence w/ your name! I've done zip since my 8 miler on Friday. How's that for undertrained? :goodvibes Happy dance for leaving tomorrow! :dance3: Travle Safe!!!

For Stacie...not much to say. I've been lazy or LTO...Not sure which. I do hope to get one more walk tomorrow. I've not done anything since my 8 miler on Friday. We did got Shoe shopping for my mom last night. 4th Store and we were finally successful! Yay. We are just about packed and ready to go, but unlike SOME folks on here, we don't leave til Friday! :goodvibes We also got my dad some nice shorts for the 5K. He doesn't really have that type of clothes.

I did do some race shopping today. I hope to get my mom to do a few more 5Ks once we get home. I found a few more through out the year. One even has a Senior Stroll...that will be nice for my dad. I wish there was one website that lists them all. I've not found one conclusive lists.

Hope everyone has a great day!!! Happy training or Packing (for those going to the Minnie!)

Stacie

IT'S BEN AND JERRY'S FREE CONE DAY!

Now if only they'd bring back "From Russia with Buzz", I would be happy!

Shan I can empathize. Like you, I "followed the plan"--didn't overtrain, did the right things and yet it seems there's always something nagging at me. But better to take the long view and rest/rehab. That way you'll have many more races in your future. I know it feels like a setback (which it is, let's be honest), but you'll get through it, and if it makes you feel any better--you're not alone.

Scott You're making it hard to wait until Thursday to get to WDW--too excited! Hope to meet you there.

ironz How does one do water running?

Morgan Congrats on the run and your improvement. It is always good to appreciate our small victories so that later, if/when we struggle, we don;t get too down on ourselves. (Now I just need to look in the mirror and repeat that to myself!!!)

Claire At least you didn't rub your eyes after the jalapenos--I did that---once. Once is all it takes!!

Time to put the laundry in the dryer and bring up the suitcase. Yippee!

Maura

Oh bummer we don't have Ben and Jerry's in Canada....:headache:

Just finished W1D1....I think I typed that right, anyways week 1 workout 1.....yippeee.

Sorry just a drive by I hope everyone is having a awesome day!!!!

Thank you guys. :grouphug:

Angie, Betsy and Maura - I hope you all feel better soon, too! :wizard:

Carrie - So you think I shouldn't be walking, either? I was gonna ask him, but I forgot.

Scott - Yes, I have had back pain before - after my c-sections I started having problems. I've actually been to PT for it before. I think alot of my issue there is my tummy muscles are nada. My primary I saw last week thought it was either my hips or my back, but this doc today didn't seem to think so. I even asked if he should x-ray something other than my knees???

At this point I'm maybe thinking this is a sign to go ahead and get that tummy tuck and stomach muscle repair. I've been to two consults now and if I'm gonna be down...

OK, I'm not a good swimmer, but he told me I needed to either swim, bike or do the elliptical. I don't have a bike and I don't have an elliptical. I guess I could get a month pass somewhere? It seems to me either of those would hurt my thighs? Seems like it would? :confused3

So, I guess I'll do the PT, what he recommended seems like an awful lot, though. Has anyone had a sports specific massage? Think that would help? The place near me got a new person who specializes in sports massages...

Cam - congrats on the Wii! I love the tennis.

OK, so no Ben and Jerry's today. But, I was craving ice cream after I read that so DH took me to get a scoop elsewhere after lunch. I needed it. :)

I hope everyone has a great time in WDW! Have fun at the race! I can't wait to see pics!

Craig: I think you would be an excellent guide for tours of Europe, featuring wine and football. Even if I'm not convinced they quite go together naturally, I'd be willing to give it a try with you as my leader.

Christa: That's GREAT news about your mom being finished with chemo! I hope she's doing well, and I bet you she's in good spirits right now. :goodvibes

Angie: I'm so sorry to hear about the continued back and leg pain. I'm glad you're going to continue to rest--and think that running slowly is the best strategy. You're being very smart!!! I hate to say this, after all your training, but the Minnie is just one event (okay, two races in your case) and I'd rather you run conservatively so as to not injure yourself AND be able to continue to run way past this weekend.

Tracy: Awww, now you're taken all the fun out of my slightly PG-13 rated images of you, your abs, and a foam roller. It's a very boudoir, er, restful picture I have, very appropriate for taper. :upsidedow I think we should petition Vic to be members of his pit crew. Whaddya think?

Kira: Four kids. Wow. And they're staying at the Poly. You're the best mom ever!

Aloha Jeff: I think YOU should be our unofficial clinic "doctor"--you can play one on the internet, you know!

Maura: I can find things to say online, and yet I am tongue-tied in person. Hmmmm. As for running and hurting, I think the feeling is as related to the fact we're paying more attention to our bodies when we run. I always imagine myself conducting a head-to-toe, sci-fi body scan early in the run and am amazed at the little differences I find. Can't help you much with the fueling question--my stomach pretty much likes whatever I put in there, and so I go with whatever's handy. It doesn't seem to make any difference with weather, length of run, etc. My biggest questions seems to be concerned with opening the package with my sweaty hands. I do start fueling about an hour into my run, so that's the length I use when I test things out (60-90 minutes).

Cecilia: You may not get this, but I'll be thinking of you, your dad, and your whole family during this time.

Carrie: Believe me, I wish I was there for the Minnie. Heck, I'd be happy to scream team for you all. Instead, I'm going to be stuck at home. if I'm in a mood I'll try to start some rabble rousing here. Maybe I'll float the suggestion that we change the colors of the WISH shirts to the more subtle safety orange? :rotfl2: So the 10-minute rule goes through taper, too? 5 minutes, 0 minutes??? I'm sorry about the stonker of a run but know the yoga will help. As will the sleep-inducing scripts!

If I can go sub-[___ mpm] and feel good and possibly PR, I will. However, as soon as it stops being fun or something hurts or the heat gets to me, I am dropping back to the next WISHer and going to go for fun. If I can't keep up with that one, I'll go some more until I can take pictures adn laugh adn enjoy the race!
I just had to add, this is the description of a perfect Disney race to me! :cloud9:

Cam: That's our Cam, always looking out for everyone! Any of us would be proud to walk with our WISH penguins, I'm sure! (I say this as a back-of-the-packer party animal myself.) I love your multitasking day: biking & bridal magazines! And :woohoo: for the Wii (or should that be whee! for the Wii?)

Kevin: A sub-30 5K in 85 degree heat? Slacker! :rotfl2: I'm glad you're back on the boards regularly!

Dana: Somehow I imagine the look your FIL gives you is the same look DOOD gives me when I say, for instance, "flipping." Or "Dude." :rolleyes1 Good luck with your 5 miler today and have fun at the Minnie!

Claire: Ouch, ouch, ouch on the jalapeno peppers. Love 'em, but they can sting. I'll put myself on record as being willing to sample your dips any time! And your baked brie. (I think I'm loving your life right now.) I hope your springtime lasts long enough for some more excellent running and biking, too! (Not to mention the rock climbing, the blading, etc....)

Frank: Oh, we've got it easy on the apartment search compared to the bias against young men. That must have been rough. I can't even imagine the reactions you received. While some people wonder why we're choosing to rent rather than buy at our age, there's no real sense that they recognize my inner party animal. (Who I like to think of as an Otter, for some reason. Animal House, perhaps?) I really like the idea of your first marathon being the Gasparilla Classic; it does seem to have a nice sense of symmetry.

Leana: I don't know if this post will catch you, but Good Luck & Have Fun this weekend. (As if I had to tell you the latter. ;) )

Morgan: Me, take notes on everyone. :rotfl: No, I just embrace my stalker tendencies. My super-secret strategy: I just open the replay post in a new window and tab, and toggle back and forth. :ssst: Kind of disappointing now that the curtain's been pulled back, huh? Btw, I so agree with you--one of the things I love about running is how much it makes me aware of my body. I don't think you will lose that awareness.

Judy and Kira: But the roller hurts soooo good, right? :lmao:

Jen and MSDave: Thank you for the reminder about the Ben & Jerry's free ice cream. It's an important social event, you know, and I just had to incorporate it into my XT.

Shan: I'm so sorry about the doctor-ordered hiatus from running. I know you're upset, but hope you can embrace the good news. Assuming the dr. is correct--and I'll let other, more experienced runners weigh in on the pain, etc.--then what you have is something that requires rest instead of surgery. It's not chronic. And the suggestion of PT will help you get stronger, and might help you with some good practices that will make you an even better runner when you get back into things (As Scott suggested). And like Angie said, you did the smart thing on your event--you slowed down, avoided serious injury. You should be proud that you listened to your body. (All these things are easier said than felt, I know, but we're proud of you!)

I'm not sure if the bike or elliptical would hurt your thighs or not; it's been a while since I started with those. I would hazard that the no-impact aspect of the XT would be good for you, though, without causing additional problems. I know in my case that the stationary bike really helped with my knee problems. In terms of access to equipment, I don't know where you live. But what you might be able to do is get some guest passes to various gyms--DOOD and I had almost a full month of free WOs when we moved to Pgh and were testing new gyms. You might also be able to buy day passes by the week or month; perhaps your doctor or sports-masseuse could recommend someplace?

Scott: Well, I see you have the recipe down for your WDW rest days:
pool, sun, drink,: bench, Epcot, Mickey Bar.
At least a couple of those things should be highly featured in a Bingham's Gone Wild video; I leave the how and why up to your imagination. You should also know that I'll be looking at your blog over the next few days, although I don't know how you'll find time to post in your busy schedule of rest. (I don't know if you're a sci-fi fan like Amy, but in the words of The Prisoner, "Be seeing you." I am not a number!!!)

Scott:
What happens in Disney, stays in Disney.
Carrie:
Scott - If what happens in DIsney, stays in DIsney, what will be on your blog???
Debra: Material evidence for the police report?

Betsy: Oh, your tris are just sprints, not a big deal? :rotfl: :worship: I agree with Tracy, you should be rechristened the TRI-Dominator! (Although I have to say I really like Ironz.) THANK YOU for posting your thought after observing the woman in water therapy. It made me very grateful today, and sometimes I need to be reminded of how lucky I am.

Amy: Henry V, the Branagh version, made me love Shakespeare on film. And I had quite the Kenny crush for a while. (Who's kidding? I still do!) I love the St. Crispen's Day speech, too, and you have chosen one of the best lines for your Minnie battle! I also love, the following, which I offer to you as inspiration:

Now bid me run,
And I will strive with things impossible,
Yea, get the better of them.
--Julius Caesar

I hope your race, your event, your weekend is everything you could hope for!! It sounds as if your rest days and non-impact work will allow you to maximize the Disney pleasure. (Add some sun, drinks, and and pool time to that and I think you have the perfect pleasure cocktail.)

Stephanie: I hope this is LTO/working full time in a good way? WTG with getting the cardio minutes in, too!

Stacie: I'm crossing my fingers for you, and everyone else on the Eye2Eye shirts. It doesn't sound like you have much room for them, though, what with all the specialty t-shirts you made, the new clothes and shoes, etc. (I know, not your new clothes, but still...:goodvibes ) Does shopping count as XT, because it sure does exhaust me!

Laurie: Congrats on finishing W1D1 (yup, you got it right) of C25K. :cheer2: Are you transitioning over to running or WR or RW?

Mel: I think I forgot to mention this in an earlier post, but I'm thinking positive thoughts for you on that faculty position at the Bradenton pharmacy school. You'd be an excellent faculty member!

As for me: Well, it was going to be a simple day of Pilates--hah, it's not simple for ME--but then someone reminded me of the free Ben & Jerry's deal. Or should I say someones? So I hoofed it to the nearest B & J (1 1/2 miles away). You wouldn't believe who I encountered on the street. Yep, evil Albert. I think he gave me an odd look, as if he almost recognized me. And I thought, "Debra, you could take him. Right here, right now." Not that that would have been too difficult--he's about 75. :lmao:

Instead, I walked right past him and met up with DOOD for my free scoop. The flavor? I thought I'd try something new--the Imagine Whirled Piece (sweet cream, caramel, chocolate chunks formed as peace signs). Not bad, but no Chunky Monkey. I was happy with their restrained serving size, too, which was about perfect.

As we exited I heard a youth say, "I've had three scoops of ice cream today, and haven't paid once." DOOD said under his breath, "And your mother must be so proud."

Hi Original Bill: How are you guys doing? Everyone healthy??? :goodvibes:

They were for a day. First Billy couldn't stand everyone being well so he got Pink Eye. Then when we thought it was cured, we found out it was viral and went to the other eye. Once that passed, Timmy wound up getting something with a weird name but is basically an eye infection due to allergies. It never ends...

I would really be thankful for some opinions here...
I went to the orthopedic today. They took x-rays of both knees and everything looks fine. He told me my problems are from overuse and not to run for a month. :sad1: He also wants me to go to physical therapy two to three times a week for six weeks?!? :confused3 Diagnosis says bi-lateral quad strain and bi-lateral knee pain. He never did an MRI on my front upper thighs.

I am not one for injury advice since I tend to do what you're not supposed to do. :rolleyes1 Maybe I could tell you what I would do and then you could do the opposite. :lmao: Hope everything feels better soon.

As usual you guys are amazing, and I am really sorry that this has been all about me, I really am.

A couple of things:

  • I WILL NOT BE DOING ANY MORE WORKOUTS THIS WEEK.
  • I WILL GO FIND A FOAM ROLLER TONIGHT AND STRETCH LIKE A MANIAC THE NEXT 4 DAYS.
  • I WILL COMBINE CAM & CARRIE'S (AND EVERY ONE ELSE) ADVICE TO SLOW RUN/WALK THE 15K.

Can we print this out and hold you to it this weekend. If you try to pass any of us then we can chase you and hit you with it. :lmao:

Angie - Excellent plan! Expect the roller to hurt a bit (OK maybe a lot) but it really really helps! :thumbsup2

You need to give Angie the cross training video you made to help her with the proper use of a roller...:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Good news on my mom...she is FINISHED with chemo! :cool1:

CONGRATS!!!!:cool1: :cool1: Hope everything continues to stay gone.

To all the new members, welcome. I have lost track of all the new members but hope we can provide some support.

As for me, well we went to Disney Saturday to check out part of the course :rolleyes1 and celebrate Lynnda's birthday. We verified the part between DHS and Epcot and it looks good, plenty of flowers so hopefully no one has allergies. Although by mid day it was hot and of course we have the sun burns to prove it.

Hopefully we can get caught up by this weekend since we are supposed to go back to Disney. Such a rough life although I may need a second job to pay for the gas.

Bill

Debra, thanks for the advice. The ice cream sounds GOOD! I'm now eating a Lean Cuisine for dinner to make up for the fact I had an ice cream cone earlier today. :lmao:

Bill, have fun in WDW!

Cecilia, I read that you did end up doing the CMM? I'm so glad. I hope everything went well.

Quick driveby, enjoy these...

Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are " XL."

Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

Can we print this out and hold you to it this weekend. If you try to pass any of us then we can chase you and hit you with it. :lmao:

Bill

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

Thank you I needed that too!!!!

OK so did not find foam roller tonight, but did not work out and did stretch so far, so good!!!!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!

Debra - You totally crack me up! Thank you for the smile! I really needed it after I saw DS14's cell phone bill -- how the HECK does someone send 592 text messages in one month? :headache:

Angie -- glad you are taking it easy!

Bill -- so sorry the boys are taking turns being "not well". Poor things!

Shan -- please take it easy!

I can't believe I went to the gym again tonight. Howard was in class. DS was doing homework, and I knew my :dog: wouldn't miss me. She'd just think Mommy was at work. While I waited for my buddies, I did 15 minutes elliptical (1.55 miles & 166 calories!). Then, my running buddies arrived and we did W2D2 of C25k. This one was a bit tougher. Probably because my day started at 5:30 a.m. (though that's late for our own dear Honeibee). We took it to 30 minutes, including warm up and cool down. I learned somethng tonight. Just because you drink a TAB energy drink and have the energy, it doesn't necessarily mean your body will want to workout and your muscles may even rebel. ;) I just am beginning to think I am a bit off my rocker, going to the gym twice in one day. But I reassured myself that I am the same old Cam -- All the calories I burned were quickly replaced with a taco bell dinner. :rolleyes2

Good evening WISHers!

Hoping everyone's Tuesday went well.

Out for 3 this evening.

Had a fairly good time at Talladega. I've determined my "Drunk Tolerance Filter" is not longer operational. I used to be able to ignore them, but anymore, they just bug me.

The one thing that really upset me was FLBill didn't tell me he was going to be there. But being the ever vigilant observer I am, I caught him on camera.

Drinking Bud Light, and a Gordon fan to boot. Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill! :lmao:

Cute outfit though. :rotfl2:

Allyson – How’s Week 5 going?

Monte – Doggy Day? Sounds like fun, but a LOT of work!

Tracy – Great job with the 7-miler!

Jen – Hope your back feels better. :wizard:

Leana – Congrats on the new PR! Awesome job!!

Kira – Oooh, the Poly? So jealous.

Betsy – Did you say THREE tris this month? Wow, that’s amazing!

Pirates Kim
– Have fun at the RFTT 10K!

Stacie – Love the shirts! They turned out great.

Mel – Thanks for the link. I’ve got the 53 Runner’s Commandments printed out to put up on the wall.

Jackie – Congrats on the 5K.

SamSam – Oops! I always miscalculate my distances. Hoping I get better about it before my distances get much longer!

Cecilia – The MOM/WOW thing is so cute! Glad to hear that your DH had a good race.

Claire – Good for you going for your doc! Children’s lit sounds really interesting. I’ve always said that if I ever haul my rear in and go to grad school that I’d like to study something literature related.

Frank – Congrats on the awesome 10-miler! Italy? How exciting!!

Heather – Congrats on the 6-miler.

Krista – Yay that Stephen finally got to see and feel the baby move!

MiaBanda Michelle – :welcome:

Karen – Hey! Good to see you!

Debra – I didn’t know about the C25K thread. I’ll have to go check it out – thanks for the heads up! I’m sorry to hear that you were your own tragedy – though I’ll admit to giggling a bit at your expense. :) Sorry the apartment fell through – good luck with your continuing search!

Cam – WTG for starting Week 2!

Christa
– I’m so glad to hear about your mom! How is she feeling?

Angie – I’m glad to hear that you’re going to take it slower for the Minnie. Less stress on the back, good conversation, and you still get the bling at the end – it couldn’t get better than that.

Shan – No advice, but I’m sorry you’re still hurting. :wizard:

Hockey Kim – WTG for starting the C25K!

Minnie Racers - I know most of you are already en route to WDW, but GOOD LUCK and have fun! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!

Me - Notes from the "well, duh" chronicles: cheese fries and Coke are not the pre-workout meal of champions. I did get through W3D1, however: 2.13 miles in 30:23 (yup, went too far out and ended up with an extended cool down). The three minute runs weren't great, but they also weren't as bad as I expected.

In other good news, DH decided to restart C25K today. I think he felt bad that I've been out there regularly for a couple weeks now, and he hasn't worked out in forever. He doesn't want me to be the runner in the family, so as long as I stick with it, he should stay motivated, too. :)

Just a quick drive by -this thread has again gotten away from me.

Hope anyone ill/injured gets better soon.
WTG to everyone for getting out and doing.
Dang - no Ben and Jerrys here....
Safe travels for everyone heading to the Minnie this week and looking forward to meeting many of you!

Have a good eve and I promise to try and keep up after I get back from WDW on Tuesday.

:)

NOTE TO SELF: Avoid Big Vic post Disney events as I may get swatted (unless he gets his filter repaired/replaced).

As to **Original Bill**, at least it looks like he brought an ID with him for a change. Of course, if that's similar to his running attire, no wonder police are stopping him at 4:00 AM and on college campuses.

Morgan- Sounds like a great run. You are right about learning more about your body and how it reacts to running every time you do it. Remember these runs when you have bad runs and they won’t bring you down as much.

Shan-Sorry to hear about your pains. I know being told not to run for a month would be hard to take. Swimming and biking are both great cross training activities. I am of the opinion that swimming laps is the best physical activity you can do when you look at the ratio of work to time (wow, science class flash back).

Scott- Enjoy the trip.

Betsy- I will definitely track my miles for the team, especially since that will be all my participation for the weeks. I don’t know where the hotels are yet before and after the biking but if it is in a runner friendly place I might just have to go exploring.

Amy/Stacie- I will make sure to get some pics up. I don’t know how many places will have web access but I will try to chime in from time to time. As far as your (Amy) Minnie goes, maybe the race day adrenaline will make up for the under training. You are smart to cut back the running before the race.

Debra- First, I can understand a landlord not wanting to rent to guys so I didn’t take it too personally. Upon reading my post about it I really did hijack you rent trouble and make it all about me…I am an a$$. Second, in Italy EVERYTING goes with wine and EVERYTHING goes with soccer…case in point, the owner of A.C. Milan is now Prime Minister…again.

I had planned on going to the gym and then hitting the streets for a short diagnosis run to make sure the body is recovered from the 10 miler. The first part didn’t happen because I watched the Man U – Barça CL game and then took an unplanned nap. I did get out and do a short 2.5 and everything felt good. I was most worried about the blisters but the Zinc-Oxide dried them out just fine.

Good luck again all you Minnie-ers. I wish I was there.

Minnie Racers, there are two places I found with free WI-FI, the World of Disney, and the Brewery restaurant down on the Boardwalk resort. Hope that helps.

I made a quick 6 milers in with my running guru. He was challenging me with 8:25 minute mile pace. I couldn't breath, so I couldn't talk.

At the end of our run, the whole weekday group met up for some free refreshments at Ben & Jerry's. MMMMMMMMMMM, delicious!

Have a great Wednesday everyone. I'm stuck in an all day training, but at least it's a day away from work! :rotfl2::woohoo:

Good Morning TEAM: I don't have any training report except for going to Ben and Jerry's for Free Scoop Day last night. I just wanted to pop in and say hi. Jeff, I love that your group run ended with getting a free scoop. What a great way to end a workout.

Good Luck to everyone heading down for the Minnie Marathon. I WISH I could be with you, and drive you all around.

Dang you saw me. I was sent on an undercover mission to determine if the giant M&M's on the 18 car were actually edible. I was told to blend in with the crowd and that I should dress in this manner. However everyone didn't have a red neck as I was led to believe were the only people who go to the races.
