Wk of April 27 - WISH Walking/Running Club

You'll all be so proud of me! I did not get my B&J free scoop! Yup, I was brave and did without. Nope, you guessed it. I don't know of any b& J's in MI. :rotfl:

Shan - I can't say for sure about not walking, but I don't think it would hurt. As for what teh doc recommendedd, they are all no impact activities so you should be ok with those. Ask your PT about wlaking. I have had PT include massage. If they think this will help you, they will include it as your PT. Again, wouldn't hurt to ask, though. :grouphug:

Vic - :lmao:

TXAng - Glad dh is going to join you! It rally does help to keep you on track!

Cam - COngrats on gettign to the gym. BTW, Judy gets to bed earlier too. (Not that she doesn't have way long days, but don't belittle your own)

Debra - Orange? ALways knew you were a trouble maker!!! :rotfl:

OK, clarification ofn my rules of running: The 10-minute rule is real. Helen told us of it. However, I am the world's laziest runner and will make up rules to meet whatever needs I may have at the time.

Did my 75 min of yoga last night and my hurts of yesterday fel much better. It will be a game time decision whther I run tonight or whether I bike or whether I declare and extra rest day. An extra rest day would mean no work outs 'til the race, though. No matter what I do, though, if it hurts, I'm stopping.

Morning all!!

Jackie-- OK, I shall continue with my gospel....even though I watched this week basically going: "No, please PLEASE don't go there" every five minutes. I'm kind of very disappointed where they are taking some of the plotlines....

PiratesRock-- Congrats on the half marathon!!!

Leana-- Congrats on the 5K PR! Safe travels to Orlando!

Mel-- Thanks for posting those commandments. It reminds me that I
m lucky to be able to do what I do... and with wonderful people to boot.

Frank-- 10 miles in 1:05?? :faint: I don't have DirectTv, so I miss all the good stuff, of course. I just have to keep up as best I can on SoccerNet...

Michelle/MiaBanda-- :welcome:

Carrie-- I like your game plan! :thumbsup2 I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to have nice weather because... I remember the marathon :scared1:

Christa-- That's awesome news about your mom. You all must be thrilled.

Shan-- Have you considered chropractic or ART? Just throwing it out there since it seems to be a chronic thing, even with dialing back your workouts. I hope things heal for you quickly/

AmyBeth-- No 15K for me this weekend, but I will be in Orlando Sunday evening as the DP (Designated Partyboy). These weekend sort of took off on me at work and I can't get out of here until 2pm Sunday. Boo.....

Hockeychic-- Maybe no Ben and Jerrys, but seeing as you have access to Tim Hortons, Pizza Pizza and endless Coffee Crisp bars, I think it's a fair trade.

Krista-- The boys are doing great... a Lab and a Newfie in a house with a pool... I wonder why they seem happier!

Deekayee-- No kidding!! I need to step it up!! Sorry to hear about your rental situation. When I moved down here I got very lucky... there's so much property on the market that it I was pretty spoiled for choice... even with a Newfoundland. Good luck finding something great!

Vic--I think I own that top.....

All About ME!-- I had a pretty good run yesterday.... 5 miles in 52-something. Not thrilled with the pace, but ran with a buddy of mine, so we dialed back to his pace a bit. I always forget how much better it is to run with someone as opposed to alone sometimes. We actually drove out to the beach and ran along A1A at the beach.... and I think I found my new running route! I need to figure out how to post pics so I can show off a little... but it was a great route. Oh, and it's fleet week here, so if sailors in dress whites are your thing, there was plenty to look at.....

The rest of this week is crazy crazy.... I have MMA class tonight and then have to dash home because I have a houseguest from Chicago for tonight. Then tomorrow, I have my friends from Quebec City coming in for a couple nights (Chance gets to learn more French!! Woo Hoo!!). Then there's the whole driving up to Orlando for a day thing this weekend. Oh well... I'll sleep when I'm 70....

Happy training all!
Kevin :earsboy:

Oh well... I'll sleep when I'm 70....
Glad to see you're getting your priorites straight. Still think missing Minie was jst not right, but I'll get over it because you're making the day trip! Hey, if the weather is awful, I'll have fun with my WISH friends. No biggie.

Michelle - I honeymooned at WDW and wore my wedding ears on TOT. They flew off my head and then landed back down. Pretty cool!

Oh my goodness, I've never been on TOT!! waaayyy too scary for me! Space mountain is about as daring as I get! lol

CB Michelle: Yay for finding (maybe) the dress. I think it's a great sign that you didn't want to take it off. It sounds like you got some good running in, plus a whole lot of heavy-lifting, back-bending yard work. Talk about your XT. I'm sure this weekend will make getting back to running 1) easier, as you've been so active and 2) seem like a rest day.

Thanks! I really love that dress, I can't wait to go back and try it on again! lol
That yard work was really strenuous, but really good. I felt great the next day too, muscle-soreness wise. But I think all of the work, getting up really early to get as much done as possible, and not hydrating myself properly over the weekend really took its tole on me on Monday. I felt so run down and sick that I ended up not going out for a jog monday. I felt better yesterday so I did get a 3-miler in which was great!

Cosi Bella Glad you got the 3 miles in Friday and that you felt better Saturday.

Thanks so much, and I really hope that you are feeling better and that you get to participate in the Minnie, even if it is just walking! I really hope that your muscles and back heal and feel better over the next few days!!! Like everyone else says, rest and stretch is the best thing! GOOD LUCK!! :goodvibes I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

BrideMichelle, congrats on finding THE DRESS!! How exciting!!

Thanks, this wedding planning just keeps getting more and more fun!! :cool2:

Michelle: Please share...what Pilates tapes did you get? Would love to know what you are doing. It's great XT for running btw (and yes I'm totally biased and bug people about doing pilates all the time). Anyway...welcome to the team and congrats on the awesome ebay find. Let me know how you liked them!

Thanks! I bought the Total Body Sculpting Workout Set, which includes: Basics: #Step-By-Step (30 min.) A step-by-step guide to Mari's most effective body sculpting moves.
# 20 Minute Workout (27 min.) A no-nonsense workout for when you're tight on time.
# Accelerated Body Sculpting (57 min.)

I haven't had a chance to try them, but I think I will either tonight or tomorrow. Being that I got them on ebay, the original owner must have smoked about ten packs of cigarettes a day! (gotta love ebay for that! you never know what you're gonna get). They smelled so horrible, so I stuck them outside for a few days and in the garage to try and air them out. It actually did help, and I can now bring them inside my house! lol
I'm really concerned with my legs and their shape, lol that probably sounds wierd. But, when I used to run in college my legs were extremely muscular and thick. I think this was because I used to run for speed and so I got bulky. I've really slimmed down since taking a break from running, and now that I'm starting up again, I really want to build long, lean muscles, and NOT get bulky again. Please please please tell me that pilates will help me do that! I don't want to get thick again! My mom always told me my legs looked great bc I was so toned, but i just felt "fat". lol damn young adult insecurities! :confused3

Bride MIchelle--yay for Dress Shopping!!! That is exciting!

I had so much fun!!! My sister kept asking me if I wanted to go shopping, I just never knew how fun it is when you find the perfect dress! Thanks!

I just wanted to say good luck and have fun to all the Minnie runners!!!! I'm so excited for you guys and I hope everyone has a great time! Also, I'm still learning and trying to keep up with everyone, so until I can get everyones names down and what's going on with them individually I'd just like to send a a big HELLO to everyone this morning! Keep up the good work, make sure to rest when you need it, and congrats to everyone for reaching any goals they have set!! Ok, I think that covers everything!

As for me, I ran another 3 miles yesterday, and each day it gets easier and easier! It was great weather over here; warm but not too warm, with a great breeze that just cooled you off right away. I ran nice and easy, really slow, b/c my friend came with me. She isn't able to run much so I just jogged along side her as she walked with me. It was really good.
I was sick Monday; I just felt physically run down and tired. I think it was from all of the strenuous yard work we did over the weekend, and from forgetting to eat and keep hydrated. I know, I know, you are asking "How can you "forget" to eat???" :confused3 My fiance doesn't understand it either, but its very strange...when I get involved in something big, like yard work, I can easily get side tracked and before I know it, its dinner time and I haven't even eaten lunch, which is SO Bad, I know!! :scared: Combine that with not enough fluid intake and I was hurting on Monday! :guilty: It was terrible. But yesterday I felt so much better and today I feel great! Now that I'm seriously in training for this half marathon, I am going to make sure to keep hydrated and nourished, I promise!

Tonight I'm meeting my friend down by the water and we're going to go for a jog down there. I LOVE the beach! The breeze should be fabulous for running tonight! I plan on getting another 3 miles in, and then possibly popping in my pilates tapes when I get home and seeing how that goes. and now... work. yuck:headache:

Angie: :donald::cheer2::dumbo::jumping1::cheer2::ccat: :cheer2::tigger: Here's the crowd cheering on your good decisions! :jumping2: :jumping3: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :simba: :stitch: :cheer2: :goofy: :figment::cheer2: :mickeyjum
And a reminder to keep up good nutrition even as you are resting :mickeybar :drinking: :cake: popcorn::  :cutie:
I tend to be an all or none type of person too, so I know what it feels like.

Shan:  tough news. Perhaps it had more to do with what you had as a base before you started training? How much had you done to build up before? Good luck. pixiedust:

Scott: Of course I'm sending some down...  I'm deciding whether to put it at the end or just tie it to a stick and dangle it in front of you cartoon-style! :rolleyes1

Betsy: I just open two tabs--one to read and one to reply on.

Amy: Yeah now I'm kinda afraid to eat them, though I love anything hot and spicy and I used to eat lots of them (out of a jar, on nachos, etc). Good decision on taking it easy on your joints. Better to be under than over trained (and injured). Go have some fun! And I second Betsy that you should sign up for the tri--they are fun. And you can do it!

Cam: oooo new toys are always fun! :dance3: 592 messages? Please tell me you have unlimited texting....

Debra: :rotfl: geee what a great sign for the future....please tell me that kid can't reproduce. :lmao: I just understood your flavor (it was only the ...third? time reading it!)--Imagine World Peace....that's cute.

Jeff: :rotfl: love the drivebys (drivebyes? drivebies? w.e.) And mmm that's some running motivation for me!

Vic: :rotfl:

Ang: Good job on your new intervals! One good (bad?) part about running and being more active is that you start noticing how your food fuels (or doesn't fuel) you. popcorn::

Carrie: Sadly I am under the same B&J's constraints as you :sad2: I'm glad you are being smart about your WOs. I've really got to get back into some yoga!

Good luck and have fun for all of y'all who are headed down to WDW!

:surfweb:

Yesterday I got a short strength train/swim in before coming back to make my baked brie for class. I was rather mad though because the dorm oven evidently doesn't cook evenly, because when I went to go check on it the front half was just getting lightly toasted, whereas the back half was black! At least I could just peel off a few layers and no one was the wiser. Today is horseback riding and of course more school work...

Cecilia

I hope the coming days go as well as possible for you and your Dad. We're thinking of you.

Vic

So who took that great picture of you at the races? Is that the man Marilyn married?

Debra

And gentlemen in England now a bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day.

That is as good as it gets. Whether from Kenneth or Sir Laurence.

Angie

Do take is easy Sunday. I know what you're capable of, but please don't inflict pain on your poor body.

Thanks for the flower and weather forecast Bill. Right now the only unknown for my 15K result is the heat and humidity. It looks like mid-60's at the start, will the humidity be in the 90's? I recall sunrise is about 30 minutes after the start, so hopefully I'll be pretty far along the course before the heat really fires up.

I'll see many of you Saturday and early Sunday.

Craig

hear about your rental situation. When I moved down here I got very lucky... there's so much property on the market that it I was pretty spoiled for choice... even with a Newfoundland. Kevin :earsboy:

OT: You have a Newfoundland? I grew up with one, Napoleon, and then we had one when we were first married (well he was a half Newf/half Black lab, looked like a small 100 lb Newf) named Tucker.

What a fantastic breed they are, I love them! Have a pic to share?

Allyson

Crap, Crap . . .

Thanks Carrie. I sort of figured. Last Sunday I had a really nice 7500 meter effort, comfortable and nearly effortless. Of course it was 48 degrees with the lightest occasional showers, perfect running weather.

If I implode at mile 7 will you scrape me up and drag me in?

Craig

You betcha Craig! May be a while before I catch up with you, though, as I will definetely be on Plan B!

TxAng--Way to go on W3! And so are you saying I should avoid cheese fries and Coke before a run? LOL! It sure sounds good, right up my alley! I'm addicted to Coke (the drink, it always sounds bad when you say that!) and now I have started keeping it in our extra fridge in the garage so if I want one I have to go all the way down there to get it. Trying to keep it at one a day. Anyway, I digress, and great that your DH is going to start running the program too! That is awesome!

Minnie Runners--All the best to you! I hope you have a fantastic weekend and race!

Shan--
I posted to you on our Team Five thread but I am sorry about the no running for a month. I hope that you can do something else to pass the time and allow your body to heal up and get strong again.

I did W5 D1 today and I conquered it! I was pretty psyched but now D2 has me nervous. 8 minute runs!!! Don't laugh, in my 38 years I have NEVER run for 8 consective minutes. NEVER! Wish me luck on Friday!

Allyson

Well... I was checking the weather for the Minnie this weekend. It's not good, but hey it's not a whole lot unlike the weather for the marathon the past two years!!:lmao:

WeatherChannel: Low 68
High 83
40% chance of Rain w/ Scattered Thunderstorms

Accuweather: Low 68
High 85
Partial Sunshine w/ a shower or thunderstorm possible

Local6.com: Lows in the Mid 60's
Highs in the Mid 80's
30% chance of rain
mostly cloudy with a chance of showers

I am not too worried about the rain, but the heat is gonna be a killer (again!). Make sure to bring your sunscreen, even with clouds you're gonna need it!

Dana

I have figured it out!! I have spent the past 20 minutes trying to get off the computer and get some stuff done around the house, and couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Well, now I have. I am getting nervous/excited about this weekend!! For the marathon I guess I would call it "taper madness', but since I am not really "tapering" I guess it's just flat out nervousness!! So here I go again... I am going to try to leave the computer for a while. Go feed my kid, clean the house, mow the grass, etc. I'll let you know how it goes!! :lmao:

Dana

OK, this is my first time trying this, so if it doesn't work... my apologies.

I think Chance is a Newfie/Lab mix as well... either that or he's on the runty side.... anyhow...

Here he is... he's a rescue, so when it came time to move he got a little concerned...

Kevin :earsboy:

Awwwww, he is so cute! Reminds me of my Tucker! And I see he has the white patch on his chest, both of ours had that too!

I'm a sucker for a Newfie, thanks for sharing!

Allyson :)

Wow, only Wed and I am way behing already.

Just popping in to wish all the Minners' safe travels and hope you all have a awesome time!!!
Kim

Ok folks. How many men here say, "I baby sat my kid...this weekend/last night"...whatever? Can I just say that you do NOT babysit YOUR OWN offspring. Quick story... One of my previous boss's decided one day to say that he babsat his son the night before. I said, "no, you can't babysit your own child." He said, "well then, what would you call it?" Me, "Parenting!" lol! I actually had to look up the definition in the dictionary to show him that it says "to take charge of a child while the parents are temporarily away" (Dictionary.com)

I heard an guy in the office say this morning that he babsat his daughter last night and it just reminded me of this... Thought I'd share.

OK...

Bill...You went to Disney over the weekend. Jealous!!!

Cam...Good for you getting the gym last night! I hope your taco bell was good!

Ang...Cheese fries. OMG! I LOVE Cheese fries. I wonder where I can get those for lunch. Hmmm Glad your DH is starting back on the C25k!

Kevin...Too bad you're gonna miss the 15K. I was looking forward to meeting you. WTO. Boo! I don't know you, but miss you anyway! :goodvibes

Allyson..W5D1! Great job!!! I remember thinking the same thing... You want me to run 8 minutes!!! You must be out of your mind! I did it though. You can too!

For me...Other than explaining to men that you "parent" your children and do not baby sit them...:goodvibes ... things are good. I'd be better if my eye2eye shirts were in. Only because I ordered them for family and they are waiting for them for this weekend. It will be very disapointing if they don't arrive on time. :sad1:

I am starving and now Ang has me wanting Cheese Fries! lol!

Only 1 more day before we leave! I can hardly stand it. I work tomorrow (I'll get nothing done!) and then we fly out Friday for WDW!!! Yay!

Everyone else coming to the MINNIE...TRAVEL SAFE!!! See you soon! Everyone else... Try not to miss us too much. I know it will be hard! :upsidedow You'll be with us in spirit!!! :lovestruc

Have a great day you guys!!! Oh, and no Ben and Jerry's for me. I don't think we have those around here. Too bad!

Stacie

Yay Kevin! Technological Progress for you today! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

He's a very pretty dog!

Greetings Racing Team -

The road to the Minnie is paved with good intentions. I turned off the alarm this morning. Alrighty then.

Totally OT but remember last week, my funny about the gas price being $3.59? Today is was $3.87. Not so funny.:headache: That was mighty quick.

Anybody seen Helen? Where's our littlegreydonkey??? :confused3

I would also just like to say that for the second year in a row...I'm missing Davy Jones do his Flower Power concert by two stinking days! Grrrrr!

Shan - Oh girl...

OriginalBill - Yeah, um, that foam roller video had been confiscated....:rolleyes1 Ohh sorry we have the pink eye thing going on again.

Cam - OMG is there such a thing as "text messaging thumbs"? Sounds like sprain in the works to me.

Vic - Ahh yes...NASCAR fans..... and you say I'm not right???:upsidedow

Kevin - It's Fleet Week there? How long does it last??? I don't leave until Saturday morning! I'm calling the Solotraveler Resort and telling them their scheduling stinks. :headache: Aren't you already registered for the 15K? Grrrrr. Oh Chance is beautiful! Is he in the moving truck? Is that how he got to Florida?!?! :scared:

OK, I will now spend the rest of the day pretending I am concentrating on work.:surfweb: Yeah, right! :yay:
