Wk of Apr 15--WISH Walking/Running Club

HA! My evil plan to convert everyone to fans is working! :rotfl:
And I think of you every time "Pour Some Sugar On Me" comes on my mp3 while training. You, trying to impress those cute young guys in the gym when that song came on! :lmao:
....

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bill - I will be praying for your sweet baby! That has to be scary! DD6.5 had breathing issues as a baby and is great now.:wizard:

Can we also have a moment of silence for my 2nd toe nail I am getting ready to loose.....I will also loose a few more but not yet.:confused3 WDW was my 6th marathon and I have NEVER lost a toenail (because of running) until now....
DH Hit his toes on a chair tonight...I think he broke the 3 middle toes...they are all crooked and swollen!
:offtopic: WHAT ABOUT DOOLITTLE?!?!?!:cheer2:

My senior who ran the thing was in class today and moving pretty well. He finished in 3:43, which of course made me drop his grade by 2 full letters.
:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: HOping I didn't wake Scott up laughing so hard at that one! I, however, would have had to kick or trip him too, just so he'd hobble and make me feel better. ;)

Jen - That's awesome! Easiest waldo pic I've ever seen! :D

Mel - I think it took so long ot fall off due to all the purple polish. ;) And here's your belated silence.......... Wow, that's a lot fo silence from me. :teeth:

Kristi - Good for you for getting out there! Just let me know when to reserve the guest bedroom for you this summer! heck, I igth even give you a meal or two. More than likely, though, it would be Scott providing that. ;)

ANd now, on to the good news......

It's back! I found my speed today! Mind you, I only rand alittle over half the race distancem, but I am happy.   10:05 for 50 minutes amakes 10:30 look do-able again. Let's see how I feel tomorrow, though.

Here's a first: Scott kept telling me I needed to slow down. He was probably right, but I just had to see what I had in me. If I thougth I could have hurt somehting I would have, but this little yogi-bera-type voice kept saying, "If you want to run fast, you've got to run fast." ;) Woo hoo! Now, I'm ready to think about burning up the pavement for teh MInnie! :thumbsup2*please let it be cool or over cast, just for the race. ;)

Drive-by post! I'm getting ready to make lunches for tomorrow (yeah, Stephen and I are packers) and then head to bed, but I was so excited to tell everyone about my run, I had to post before I forget. I was supposed to do 3 miles tonight and I decided to do a 5K instead. I PR'ed my 5K time--31:09!!!!   AND even better, look at my splits:

Mile 1 10:16
Mile 2 10:14
Mile 3 9:36--WHAT??!!!!???! That's my fastest mile EVER!!!!:woohoo:
.10 :55

You have no idea how excited I am!! And even better, I had zero pain in my leg/knee/IT band area. Maybe Boston isn't too far off!! ;) ;) ;) Oh, Craig and Martha do you have a bedroom for me?? :thumbsup2 (In case someone doesn't realize what a joker I am, I am completely, totally, 100000% kidding about Boston! :) )

Yay Krista!!!!! We must have been flying together tonight!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2   :cool1: :cool1:

Boston 2047, here we come! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey all.... check this out. Where is the WISHer, like where's Waldo. I am in the local Buyers Guide picture (top picture).

main.asp

Jen- You're an attention grabber for sure! Didn't pay attention to your location until I saw the name of the buyer's guide. I used to work for Wausau Insurance and miss my regular trips to WI. I especially miss 'squeaky cheese'.

Judy-I participated in the Galloway program in Hartford a few years ago. It was a great experience. He came to our first meeting. Nice guy.

Aladdinsgirl- Great splits!

Craig- How cool to live so close to the course. My former employer was a division of Liberty Mutual which has a research center there in Hopkinton at the start. That's as close as I'll ever get.

Bill-:wizard: for your little one.

DH is talking very loudly to my own 3 yo DS who won't go to sleep and is bouncing on his bed. I've got to go calm them both down.

I got in 5 miles on the TM today in 51:12!

Sorry guys - i haven't had a chance to catch up with this week's thread.

Guess what?! I am officially crutch-less as of today! :cool1:
The Dr.'s office called to cancel my appt. for Thurs. because doc is leaving for 3 weeks in Italy!:scared1: Oh no, I tell the receptionist. I need to talk to him. Once I got him on the phone, he told me I could lose the crutches!
There was no way I wanted another 3 weeks of them. He told me I could ride the exercise bike and swim. No running yet, but at least I can now DO something! :)

My employee finished Boston in 3:42:01. Talked to her today. Said she felt ok, just tired. Gee, I wonder why? I was very proud of her. In those conditions and it didn't seem to slow her down much.

Gonna go back and try to catch up now.

Terri

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

No training for me yesterday, DW convinced me to skip my x-training SWOG so we could go to "Free Scoop Day" at Ben and Jerry's. Mmmmmmm.....

Krista- Wow, fantastic run. I'm so glad you're pain free these days. So it will be You, me, and Steve running together for the Pig then, right?

Bill- good for you for keeping your training up with the newborn. Glad things are going well, and hope the little one's throat thing heals up.

Stephanie- Welcome back. Glad you had a great trip to WDW. We missed you here.

Kristi- Great job on your 3 miler. It's tough when you know you have a time deadline on the other side. Great job.

Jen- I think I found you!

Jackie- Hope you found something for dinner. I must admit our family has done PB&Js a couple of times when everyone gets really busy. The kids seem to like it though.

Terri- I'm so glad you're off the crutches. Yay! I'm glad you can start to get some exercise in.

Terri-Congrats on being crutchless! I wonder how many of that doctor's other patients didn't get to speak w/ him before his 3 wk vacation and will stay on theirs?

Dave- If we had a B&J here I would have made free cone day my destination, too!

Today's XT is yard work. Got to get the twigs and sticks up so we can start mowing.

Have a great day.

Hey all, sorry I've been MIA. The life of a very part-time bike mechanic is busy!!! I'm totally loving that job as I'm learning a ton!!

As far as training, I did do a 9.5 mile trail run on Monday. My legs felt ver sluggish and I had a lot of left booty and knee pain. I think I may try to see an ortho as it seemed worse than usual.

Phil and I have had a pretty crappy week! I don't want to go into it all right now b/c it is just too much to explain, but basically it involves recurrent health issues for Phil. We are waiting on some more test result to know more:guilty: At least I can be in denial while working on and selling bikes! !!!

Oh, on a funny note, (and referring to the high level of education and intelligence of our group) there is an 18yo who puts me to SHAME w/ his ability to sell and repair bikes!! MAN, what is that about?:confused3 (oh, and he has cooler clothes than me too!(I can just drop the "I'm a mom" excuse to justify that one)

Terri - Yay on being crutch-free!!!!!! Glad your employee did well and she didn't freeze!

Dave - Yum!

Kiena - Great time on the 5-miler!

Morning team! Well, gotta get back in training mode today. Gonna get at least 3 miles in this morning, may push it to 4 if I feel good.

Dave--Yummo on Ben and Jerry's!! Wish we had one here! sounds like cross-training to me!

melissa--hope Phil is okay--sending some prayers and PD your way that it's nothing serious. Cool, on the job though!

Krista--WTG on the run!!

Terri--WooHoo on being crutch free!!! Next step is back to running!! sounds like your recovery is going well.

Well, gotta go--suitcases need unpacking, groceries need buying and I need to lace up and get out! Have a great Hump Day all!

Melissa - :wizard: :grouphug: lol about teh 18-YO. yesterday in PT there was a 16 YO. Guess who didn't need the cane when he did my exercise? DOn't know if this helps, as I am no fashion statement, but you're one of teh coolest-dressing mom's I know!

Stephanie - Hope you legs treat you nicely on your run!

Hey all... Nothing new to report, except I am hoping my trip to the podiatrist on Friday will cure all the woes in my body!! :lmao:

Disnut - Well, Wausau Insurance is no more. They were bought out by Liberty Mutual several years ago and layed off about 1000 employees. Just not the same, tho they still use the Wausau Insurance name every once in awhile, I think for the reputation!

Krista - Oh I hear Boston calling your name... Krista, Krista, KRISTA. You get the Speedy McQueen trophy of the week!

Carrie - You can share the trophy with Krista. Way to get back there!!! If my foot would behave, I think I would be back on track.

Oh hey, on another running board I saw several people mention how Chi Running has helped them increase speed and decrease injury. Now I am convinced I need to find this book. My library doesn't have it, so I may have to find it at Amazon.

Good morning everyone!!! I'm going to try my best to catch up with everyone, please don't be mad if I overlook someone. :flower3:

Melissa-- Prayers for you and Phil. I'm glad you are enjoying your new job so much, but know that we miss you around here.

Carrie--Congrats on your 5 mile time!! That's awesome. I know what you mean about hearing that little voice in your head, I heard it last night too. But mine was in the form of Martha saying "if you want to run faster, you have to do your speed work!". :)

Martha--Thanks for being my voice last night and "making" me run faster than I normally do. If you're confused, see above! :goodvibes

Mel and Christa--
(that was your moment of silence)

Bill--Prayers for little Timmy!!!! Great job on your 5 miler too. It sounds like the Boston Marathon really inspired us all this week. :)

Jackie, Robert, Leana, Martha, and Craig--Thank you so much for providing forever homes to so many deserving dog and cats. I think that's wonderful.

Jackie--I'll be right over to make dinner! Do you mind if I bring Hines? ;) It's so good to hear that your foot is getting better and you are able to run.

Bekkiz--:cheer2: You are doing so great!! I think your intervals are a fantastic idea. And don't think about the long term, just take it one step at a time.

Christa--I gotta admit, whenever I hear "Baby Got Back", I think about you shaking your booty for your girls! :lmao:

Dave--I would have picked Ben and Jerry's over running any day! What flavor did you get?

Terri--YAY!!! :yay: :yay: No crutches! That's awesome!!

Craig--You have fast students! My mind can't even comprehend a 3:10 marathon.

Stephanie--I'm glad that you made it home safe and sound. Good luck doing all that laundry! That's the worst part of vacation: coming home and facing 100 loads of laundry and piles of mail!

Angie--You need to be very, very, very proud of yourself! Shout everything you have accomplished this year from the mountain tops (like for example, Space Mountain or Expedition Everest ;) ). What an incredible role model you are being to your boys. And on a more serious note, can I say how jealous I am of you for having access to a free tan? I just paid $30 for 100 minutes of tanning. :sad2:

TXAng--Congrats on your 5K!!! That is fantastic!!

Leana--I think you and I would make great friends! I, too, enjoy the high, high heels that are killers to your feet, but look so good with your outfit. AI update: Stephen told me that Sanjaya was voted Maxim magazine's Hot Girl of the Day. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Did you see my girl Jordin rock the house? I love her!

Kiena--Did you get your pirate: to bed? Good luck on getting your yard work done today. Stephen and I need to pull weeds, but the past few Saturday's have either been rainy or cold. This weekend is supposed to be nice. Do you think I'll be sore on Sunday after running 12 miles and then pulling weeds? :)

Colleen--How did your lr go?

Sara--I gotta agree, running without an iPod or mp3 player is going to suck! Good luck on Grandma. That's coming up pretty soon, isn't it?

Judy--How's the foot?

Jen--Thanks for representing Team Wish!! Where's Waldo! :rotfl2: By the way, I will GLADLY accept the Speed McQueen trophy of the week. I'll even share it with Carrie. If I have to. ;)

Andrew--I hope you are enjoying your vacation! I was thinking about what you said about losing weight and now being so tired. Did you lose weight by cutting calories? Are you now trying to run on the same amount of calories that you were eating while losing weight? If that's the case, you don't have enough calories to sustain your body while exercising. 2 years ago I lost 15 lbs by cutting my calories to about 1200 per day. At the time I wasn't running, so it was okay. Now, there's NO WAY I could run 4 times a week and xt 1 or 2 days a week on 1200 calories a day. I just wouldn't have enough energy to keep me going. Try getting 200 or 300 extra calories a day and see if that helps.

I know I missed people, but I've been typing for an hour. I need to get started on my work! I'll be back later. :)

Jen - Hang in there!! :wizard: for a fix from teh doc!

Krista - lol. It was Craig's voice in my, but my Minnie partner Martha that is driving me to keep the goal that I set.

Bill - I hope Timmy's issue gets figured out soon! I can't imagine how scary that would be!

I got my 5 mile run in last night in 56:56 for an 11:23 min/mi pace. Some of the hills around my neighbourhood were kicking my butt, but overall the run was great. The weather was gorgeous and warm - yay for spring! Now between today and tomorrow afternoon we are forecasted to get between 15 to 25 cm of snow. That's between 6 and 10 inches!

Have not had a chance to watch AI, but it is sitting on my DVR at home, so I'll have to watch it once I get in some upper body weights and maybe some abs tonight. I read that a lot of folks didn't do that well this week... The Calgary - Detroit hockey game last night was awesome!! Very tired this morning now because of it. :faint:

Leana - Yikes on the snow! At least you're in the same time zone as the game. Starting at 10 pm my time makes it totally out. SOUndsl iek I didn't want to see it anyway. ;) I only stay up that late for final round or make or break games.

It is nice to hear so many people being excited about yesterday's Boston 26.2. My senior who ran the thing was in class today and moving pretty well. He finished in 3:43, which of course made me drop his grade by 2 full letters. He said the cold and wet didn't really bother him on the course, but once he finished and was in the corrals, the long corrals he called them, he felt really cold really fast. He said many finishers collapsed into the waiting wheelchairs for a ride to the heated tents, and he seriously considered it.

Also, he ran with a fellow student, and they went through mile 1 in 6 minutes flat:scared1: . Dan realized that wasn't a good idea so he let the other fellow go, and that darn kid ran 3:10:scared1: :scared1: . Youth is definately wasted on the young. I'll qualify for Boston if I can only get a bit faster between now and my 106th birthday.

Craig -- my 5k partner's son, Peter, finished Boston in 2:48:27!!! Isn't that absolutely amazing? He is 21 and a junior at UD. And an amazing young man on so many levels. I am so proud of him and I've never even met him! My friend said being at "THE Boston Marathon" was an awesome experience!

You have no idea how excited I am!! And even better, I had zero pain in my leg/knee/IT band area. Maybe Boston isn't too far off!! ;) ;) ;) Oh, Craig and Martha do you have a bedroom for me?? :thumbsup2 (In case someone doesn't realize what a joker I am, I am completely, totally, 100000% kidding about Boston! :) )

Krista -- I am so excited for you!! Great splits!

Guess what?! I am officially crutch-less as of today! :cool1:
:woohoo: Terri! Here's lots of pixiedust: for a smooth and quick and pain-free recovery!!

Phil and I have had a pretty crappy week! I don't want to go into it all right now b/c it is just too much to explain, but basically it involves recurrent health issues for Phil. We are waiting on some more test result to know more:guilty: At least I can be in denial while working on and selling bikes! !!!

Melissa -- keeping all of you in my prayers, sweetie! I am glad you have your job to help distract you!

Jen -- great picture -- yeah, no chance of missing us WISHers at these events, right? :cloud9: Oh, and I know Anne's husband, Robert, read Chi Running and found it really helped him improve his pace.

BTW, where is Anne? Seems to me we need to send the dog-catcher out to round up some of our missing WISHers!

I did 60 minutes on the bike last night. With my sinus and upper respiratory issues, I just couldn't bear the thought of running. Maybe tonight.
