Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Judy - :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay::yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay::yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
And you got to see Dr. HHBL a couple times too! :rotfl:

Today is quite the WISH day!
1. Judy is good to go Minnie
2. WISH shirts are arriving all over the place
3. I got my finishers certificate & recap too!

Also, Judy, you are back!

Angie - Don't feel too bad about a week off. I was kicking myself Friday night about the same thing, but got up Saturday morning and had a killer run on the TM. It felt so good to be back!

Lynnda & Bill - Good luck tomorrow!

Craig - Your post was fabulous. Even thought I've only been running for a little over a year, I know I wouldn't still be at it if it weren't for this group. I don't have any support group locally, so you guys keep me going.

My sister sent me a personality quiz, and my style says I would prefer to "play chess or be a longdistance runner." I think it's great that I've found what I'm supposed to do!

Did an arm workout this morning, then rode the bike for 20 minutes. Thought I might get up and do the TM, but after Saturday's run, I mowed the yard, then did more yard work on Sunday; so I decided to give the body a break. I think it was grateful!

Hey everyone!

It's quite a day. Judy doesn't have ACL damage and I got my WISH t-shirt!!! AND, there is a new race on the horizon!! I am so totally psyched. Today was walking with my walking buddy and weight lifting. Tomorrow is speed work.

Bill: mucho good luck tomorrow!! We're expecting pictures...of course in the new nursery!

Becky: :welcome: you are gonna LUV this group!!

Kelley: have fun in FL this weekend!

Tiff: congrats on the time.

Calcio: :love2:

Okay, first of all, I got my WISH shirt today!!!:cool1: :cool1: So of course I had to sport it at the running clinic tonight:thumbsup2

So, running clinic......tonight was the dreaded speed work. A necessary evil, but now I'm really hurting. We did a warm-up mile, around 9:00, I think. Then we paired up with someone close to our speed (lucky me, I got paired up with one of the leaders--so not my speed! ) and we ran 6x200s with a recovery period between each. And then finished up with a mile jog cool down. Leader still thinks I can make a 23:00 5K--we'll see.

Oh, but here's a funny aside. We were doing our first 200; we were running from one light pole to another. And our other leader was standing at the end to show us where to stop. She says "Wow I could see that shirt (meaning WISH) coming fast! I was wondering what you were 'wishing' for??" We both said at the same time--"We WISHed we were done!":rotfl:

Bill and Lynda--Hope I haven't missed ya'll--But much luck tomorrow!!! Can't wait to see pics of that new little WISHer!!!! Praying for a healthy baby and a speedy recovery for the mama!!!

Well, better get off here! Have a great evening all!!

Hi all! I've been totally LTO'd!

I've skimmed through up to page 13 of last week adn want ot post a couplethings before I forget. It may take me all week to catch up with this week. :faint:

Martha - Do not compare your pace to Craig's. As much as I believe that girls can do anythign boys can do, there is a defference. ;) You are not slow. (OK, that's kind of self serving. :p)

Dave - Yup, took me 16 years to get back in those ASICs. A coach can do such wonderfu things to the mind.

Craig - Thanks for the kind words. I struggle even more because I am inherently lazy. So, I'm torn btwn comparing myself to the freshman letter winner and just being proud that I'm getting of the couch. Talk about an identity crisis! lol. I was 115 pounds then, same height. Yeah, my shape may have changed a bit. :rotfl:

Krista - COngrats on the cavity-free checkup!!!! I've had some major issues adn tend to shout it from the mountain top if I can go 6 months btwn visits. :D

SIleverSteve - I am so sorry about the doc's report. Ia lways wonder how long my body will take the long distances. I second Mel's advice to think about ebcomign a walker. It's so much easier on teh body.

OK, skipped the 8-miler, as my sub 10:30 50 minutes on Thursday may have been a bit much. I did get new shoes Sunday adn I hope those will help. SItting down? I ended up with Mizuno Nirvanas. :O We'll see if there's life beyond ASICs. ;)

For all those who call tehmselves slow, look around you. How many of your friends and co-workers work out regularly? Pat yourself on the back! Congrats fro making that change. Please ignore those of us who still try to re-live our glory days. ;)

Hope to be back soon. So glad so many are enjoying the shirts. Just don't stare at themtoo long and burn your retinas. :rotfl:

Thank you all so much for the well wishes for tomorrow! :goodvibes Any prayers and :wizard: are greatly appreciated!!! I can't believe in only 12 hours it will be over, and I'll get to hold our little boy! :cloud9: I think Billy is doing well with everything. We had some great Mommy-son time today (a trip to Toys R Us always helps...), and Bill will get Daddy time for the next 3 days. Yea!!! We will post pics as soon as we can.

You all are so special to us! Thanks again!

Hello Everyone!!

Officially back to MINNIE training and so many things going on.

Did 4 miles at 10 minute pace today and came home completely, disgustingly SWEATY!!! Did I mention it's hot here, 4 days a go I was freezing my but off on the deck of a Navy ship in VA !!:confused3 The really sick thing is it felt good, it felt like a GOOD run, no matter what the pace. Anyway;

Dave - Thanks for the encouragement. I wish my trip was to Disney, actually it was to Norfolk, VA to demonstrate an environmental structure that was developed by a professor and grad student at my school. I was so excited and it just turned out horrible:eek: . But I worked my but off, the structure was 5000 square feet of aluminum/ steel that we erected with our bare hands, and wrenches. All my muscles from the waist up ache - that is not why it was horrible the workout was the only good part of the trip. Anyway home with my family and back on the running!!

Sunny - Good luck in your training for that race. The longest run I have done in 8 weeks is 7 miles, so even that 13.5 sounds long right now:scared1:

Krista - thanks for the :grouphug:

Judy - Congratulations on the good news, see you at MINNIE!!:cool1:

Bill and Lynda - CONGRATULATIONS!! A new baby is such a wonderful gift!!!

Happy training everyone.

50 min on the TM tonight, 3.91 miles 12:49 pace.

:welcome: Becky! Look forward to seeing you at the Minnie!

Lynnda and Bill...best wishes to all of you tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you at 9:30am.

Judy...what wonderful news! So what's the next step?

Cam...congrats on your big 7-0!

Craig...your posts are always so thoughtful and right on the mark. Glad you and Martha will be coming in Oct.

Angie...welcome back! Supposed to have a little cool down this weekend.

Kelley...have fun in Ft. Myers! That's where I was born and raised. :beach:

Carrie...I alternate with ASICs for LR and Mizunos for SR, but also like Saucony and FILA. When ASICs upgraded the Cumulus, it didn't feel right so I started shopping for others. Haven't found another purple shoe quite like it, though I may have some FILA's on their way :rolleyes1

I got my CD and certificate today too. Didn't spot any WISHers on the CD. DD14 and DH got their postcards to confirm half registration. Now we just need to get the Wild Thing registered for the kids races and we're all set. Maybe we need a Pluto race series for the dog and cat ;)

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend! Yesterday was my day off from training but tonight I'm gonna try to get a 4 miler in.

Stephanie - sounds like an awesome speed workout. I wish I had a group like that I could train with around here...it sounds like a lot of fun. I think it would be a good source of extra motivation and encouragement to stick to your training and push yourself beyond what you might just do on your own.

Angie - glad go hear you're back in training mode...sounds like you got a good 4 miler in. Even though the heat/sweat are rough, it'll be good to have those training conditions to prepare you for Disney. That's one thing I'm thankful for about living over here...my weather is pretty similar to Florida. I can remember growing up I'd play in soccer tournaments all over the states and because I lived and trained in NJ, it was always a rude awakening to go and play some place that was hot and humid.

Lynnda - can't wait to see the pictures of the latest addition to your family! Good luck with everything!

Ok, back to work for me...I'll catch up with you all later :)

Kristin
