Non-Disney Online Games (Wizard 101) Quest Tips & Help Thread!

My Fire/Life was my first avatar. It was a lot of fun. I loved the big spells. I personally enjoy any spell that gets all the enemies (snow storm, meteor, throw-up frog, tempest). I didn't have the fizzle that many complained about, but I would go for higher % instead of higher health/manna clothing. I hardly ever fizzled in fire.

My easiest avatar is Life/Balance. Well the Life portion enabled me to get through most of Wizard unaided. But, in the higher levels I felt a bit cheated with the big spells. Centaur rocks, of course, but I really would have liked to have had that across the board 'get all the enemies' spell in Life, instead of the 'help all your friends with health' spell. The sand storm spell, well, idk...it just didn't do much for me. :)

I will probably make a Life/Storm person first, or Life/Myth. I really need want a nice powerful school as my 2nd choice.

Plus, I loved being dressed in Green. The reds, pinks and oranges...sigh....got old after a while. :wizard:

My second wizard was a Life/Death. I was able to use her to solo a good part of all the worlds, even Mooshu (just did the War Oni alone). I made sure I always had a Death wand that I could switch too when facing Life enemies as well as Death cards I could put into the treasure card stack on those occasions. I use storm/fire/myth treasure cards to beef up my attack abilities. The Life minion works very well and is what enabled me to fight so many battles solo. Also, when are you with a team, Life really helps out your attack school chums.

My wizard was a storm/myth and I was kind of disappointed in my abilities and only made it to Kroktopia LVL 21.
That's because you got the combo backwards. :rotfl: By having Myth as a second school, you missed out on its best feature: Minions, minions, minions! I would never choose Myth as a minor for that very reason.

I played a Myth/Balance wizard through MooShu to completion. Balance was OK as a minor, but I ended up dropping it eventually and started picking up Death spells instead. Once finished, I started a Myth/Storm wizard, who has just made it to Krok. Storm will always be a challenging school, due to its fizzle rate, but it pairs well with Myth, imo. I am likely to do this combo again after the wipe.

Another combo I love playing is Ice/Death. Ice might not be flashy, but it does solid damage, doesn't fizzle as much as the other elemental schools, and gets the best health of any school. Combined with Death's health-stealing abilities, I mostly solo'd all the way to Tomb of Storms (where I am now). Even better: I have not been defeated in battle once. I expect this wizard will be the first I make after the wipe.

Dumb question : How do you choose your secondary school? I know I choose death as my primary but never knew how I got my secondary.

My 2nd wizard is Myth/Life and I really liked that combo. Myth gave me lots of minions from very beginning--I started with a zero pip Golem Minion at level 1 or 2, then added Troll Minion soon after, and then a Cyclops Minion. Having an extra player helped with some bosses. And, I really like the healing spells from life as a 2nd school. Between my Seraph and Humoungafrog, I can do a lot of damage, too.

I'm contemplating creating a balance wizard tonight to try that school out, too. Any thoughts on Balance?

Balance oh it is AWFUL in my opinion. There spells are based on pips, like donate power and power play.I think there minion isn't the best minion there is. There attack damage isn't in the high range I would say you could do a lot better in a different school. The perk is starting with 480 while others school start with 450 or 400 and ice is 500.

You can choose any school but most people choose life for the healing because later on you will need it. when you earn training points from leveling up,then you can spend them on some other school spells aka your secondary school. From level 1-20 you get an experience points every 4 levels from 20-50 it is 50 every 5 levels. you can also get training points from quests also! Zeke in each world has quests for you to find different items. If you find the items you get experience,a training points and other items

Everyone remember to consider the new school TECHNOMANCERS

Thanks for the scoop. I had contemplated creating a new wizard for that school tonight,, but I think I won't bother.

Once the wipe happens, I will either continue with my myth/life wizard, try myth/death, or maybe try the new school.

My first wizard was a Storm/Myth as well, so I feel your pain! I do love those Storm spells though, even with the fizzle. I made my second wizard Life/Storm and have had a much easier time of it; I'll start one again after the wipe. The healing makes all the difference in the world. Also, if I run out of content because of any "free account" limitations, I figure a Life wizard will always have plenty to do helping out.

Has anyone made a Life/Fire or a Life/Myth? I'm wondering what those would be like for an additional wizard.

I started out as Life/Myth, but then gradually added some Death through Vampire, plus the blades/traps that cover all three schools. I found Life/Myth to be pretty easy, and once I got to Centaur level, I was able to phase out my other cards and use Life mostly, unless I was fighting Life monsters.

I will probably be boring and create the same exact combo. I also found myself healing others a lot, too. DMamie called me a "battlefield medic".

Briar, I wish I were clever enough to think of, "battlefield medic". That is really cute. I hate to take credit for someone else.

It is so nice to see all of my vmk friends.

I actually have thoroughly enjoyed playing my balance/death wizard... She was my second wizard to finish up Mooshu and I'm honestly thinking of creating a balance wizard before doing another storm wizard. So much depends on how you use your training points and your personal playing style. I thought the balance minion was way more helpful than my storm minion target... although I did get used to him eventually as well. Balance also gets another minion spell as their level 38 spell which is a bit like spectral blast only you get a random spectral minion. And I must say that the storm minion that balance gets is much more what I had hoped my storm minion would be.

Does anyone have anything they would like to finish or do tonight before the wipe? Want to finish a quest or kill something really big?

If so, I know what we have many people who will help.:wizard:

I figured I needed to get to level 50 just so I could say I did. LOL

I really liked my Fire/Life combo. Then I used the extra training points on Storm. It was a great combination.

Not sure what I will do tomorrow. I want to see what the new school is. I will definitely make a Rowan DragonFlame with Fire/Life again.

Yes early on with my Life/fire character it seemed like anytime i was in battle with someone, healing others was exactly what I did. :)
I did find that when we all got higher up, it was usually no longer needed. lol
I even got to where I didn't use my healing spells on me. lol

Poor old Zeke. What is he going to be in for when the doors open? Think he will have one of those "take a number" things like they have at the butcher's shop?

Now serving 1149!!:wizard:
