Hey folks, I wanted to drop a quick note about the pricing model before the game goes live. We’re going to be using a “hybrid model” for Wizard101, which means that the game will be available with limited content for Free (roughly half of Wizard City, and the PvP system which will be coming online shortly after launch.) Players can purchase unlimited access to all of Wizard101’s content in a couple of ways:

- Monthly Subscription. You can buy a recurring subscription for $9.95 per month that gives you full access to the game content, chat systems and other great benefits.
- Pre-paid subscription. You can buy a recurring subscription for 6 months or 12 months at a discounted price.

In addition, we are looking to bring other pricing options online shortly after launch:

- Time for Crowns. In addition, we’re going to allow you to buy pre-paid months using crowns. Initially crowns will be available online, and eventually (through some really cool programs that we haven’t talked about yet) we’ll provide other ways for players to get crowns, as well.
- Other pricing options that will be announced at a later date

We have a lot of exciting stuff coming down the pipe, but the first step is to get the game launched successfully … so to make that happen, we’re going to start with the traditional online game model of subscriptions and a cash shop. Stay tuned as we bring you more options post launch and, as always, enjoy the game!

I was hoping the free game would at least include all of Wizard City. Oh well. Guess I'll just play around with multiple wizards.

I'm curious, though. Is there a limit to the number of levels you can advance for free, without going to the next world?

i got the same name , but transfered from Ice to a different school. i am now a Death/Storm Wizard

i'll be glad when it does launch so i can get some crowns to buy some REAL Wizard Clothes, not the hand me downs you get in the game, they hardly give you anyprotection at all.

Hi. I think you just need to go to the area mentioned on the quest (I cannot remember the exact spot from last time I created a Myth wizard) and wait there for a second or two. You won't need to do anything to summon the minion, it should appear by itself.

I think I read somewhere here that Wizard 101 said that they would be coming out with a new magic school. Does anyone else here wish that they had done that with this last update? I have been trying out different magic school combinations so I have gone up to the second world with at least three wizards. Since they were all wiped out, I have been playing mine along with my daughter's at the same time. On those quests where you are all the way out at the end of the street and then have to visit Merle or someone, I leave one wizard behind so that I can visit saving me the time running all the way back. I am getting really tired of Wizard City.

I have had players jump into my battles after waiting and watching for that last possible moment to jump in. I am seeing it a lot today, moreso than ever before and wanted to throw out a warning to you all to keep some health in your last set of cards! I was lucky enough to have that health when these two girls jumped in my battle, I was at 359 HP when they joined. I didn't get their names, as you can't click on them in battle and they ran as soon as it ended, but I did catch one of the girl's conversation with me.

As you can see, she's actually proud of the fact that she jumped in and I had to use a health fairy. Extremely rude, considering the small amount of mana I had left.

It would really be nice if KingsIsle put an end to this.

I had someone following me around doing just that today. The third time, I just decided to cut my losses, waited until he was facing one damaged and one very healthy evil snowmen in colossus and then fled so he had to deal with them alone.


I don't like to be mean and the first time, I'll accept the idea that someone just got pulled in accidently. But when I see them waiting on the sidewalk...nah, I'm afraid affable fairy stops being affable.

I guess folks are trying to get through their quests as quickly as possible but that is still no excuse.

Yes. And this was just the last time it happened to me, there were a few others prior. If only they would ask first, I would most always say it's okay to jump in. I like your payback. heh I have been known to flee as well, but that was in Krok when I could afford to purchase potions and didn't have to run around catching sparkles. LOL

I change realms if I see that someone is doing this. It's great when you can hook up with people and work together but I don't want to be used.

Hi!

I hope something can be done about this. I created my new wizard today, after the big wipe. I bought my pioneer dragon but started having some lag & other issues with the game. I signed off, then back on, did disk clean-up, all the little computer tricks, etc....

When it still didn't work, I figured I should start over, so I deleted the character, shut down, re-booted, did more computer tricks, and made a new me. Well, with all systems go, I realized my big mistake too late. My dragon was gone. I went to get a new dragon but now I don't have the 320 crowns because they were wasted on my defective, twitchy wizard.

I was one of the earlier beta testers and would be really bummed if I have to go without my moons and stars dragon due to silly tech probs.

So, I hope one of the great powers that be can help me out here!!

I noticed several bugs and a lot of lag today which I really haven't had much before. Changing realms helped a bit. Some of the music got stuck and I had to turn down the speakers or log out and log back in. I was in battles where I was not physically there. When I had to fight something there were times that I would run up to them through them and back before it would trigger a battle.

After many many issues not being able to launch the game, I am finally able to log in. (was a major issue with the Microsoft Virtual C++ redistributable 2005).

I am totally at a loss as to what I need to do. I met with the professors in ravenwood, completed the intial stuff but now can't figure out where to get these quests. Rather than go through 105 pages, just thought i would ask.

After going to see the teachers you need to check your homework book. It will tell you to go see the headmaster again. When you see the headmaster again, after the teacher run, he gives you a 'training point' for your second school. You can return to the teacher of your choice and 'train' for a new spell. Be careful as when this training point is used, it is gone. If you need instruction on what to do with your new spell, let us know...we can help.

You will also get from the headmaster your first true task...a trip to Unicorn Way. It allows you to get your feet wet.

Just remember this is all quest driven. So be on the look out for anyone with a yellow "?" or "!" as they want you to do something for them.

Never hesitate to come to a DIS meeting and get some DIS friends. There has never been a time when I haven't been met with one person refusing to come and help if I was in need or had a question.

Do we know when the Pay to Play model will come out? Are they accepting payments now? Or are we still in "BETA" and free to advance and move around?

Oh and I reused my old name of "Amber Jadesong" and now she's a Life/Fire. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far.

Is there another DIS Board Meeting coming to re add friends?
