Caffeine withdrawal. I used to drink unhealthy amounts of Coke and Pepsi, like disgusting amounts. I've been dependent on it for years, drinking it in the morning. I gave it up sometime last year and then became dependent on it again in August when I was eating out a lot due to vacation.
For the past few days I've been cold turkey with the stuff, and have drank nothing but water (so I drank like 3 bottles yesterday and had to pee all day).
Is it possible that I'm going through withdrawal today?

The symptoms for it are:

* Headache, the most common symptom, which affects at least of 50 percent of people in caffeine withdrawal
* Fatigue or drowsiness
* "Unhappy" mood, depression, or irritability
* Difficulty concentrating
* Flu-like symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, and stiffness.

I've been dealing with most of that. HORRIBLE headache that's made me feel nauseated, I've had muscle pain and stiffness (but that might be from exercising), I haven't been able to concentrate at all and I've definitely been tired, sad and irritated.

So is it really possible to go through caffeine withdrawal where I only drank Coke and beverages with caffeine, and not actual coffee?

My mom drinks diet pepsi constantly.
When she doesn't have it in 2 days she starts getting headaches and is in a really bad mood.

I've been trying to cut down on soda.
So yesterday all day I had water and that was it.
Then my back started to hurt really bad which is usually what happens when I drink to much pop.
So I got some ice and had a cup of coke and felt alot better.
So I've gone to 1 can a day of diet dr. pepper or a cup of diet pepsi.

Sounds like it.

its very possible.. caffeine is addictive and is bad for your body.. thats why they have the caffeine-free products too... for people who have caffeine issues

Thanks =)
My headache is the worst. I've had these headaches a lot since school started (kind of funny how it's almost always Thursday when they happen) and I told my mum tonight I want to go see the doctor about them or get an allergy test.
I'm still gonna go see the doctor, but I'm pretty sure it might be the caffeine.

Gosh... that sounds miserable. It's great that you've decided to cut back on it, but still- ouch. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I had a caffeine related incident the other day, the first day I got sick; I used to drink a lot of black tea, but this winter I switched almost entirely to green tea and thought nothing of it. But that day my throat and stomach were feeling awful so I went with the black, forgetting that it was so heavily caffeinated. I was so frigging jittery after that that I couldn't stay on the computer and could barely lay down, even though I didn't have a speck of energy. I was in bed all day fighting the urge to explode or something. it was awful. :headache:

I am probably caffeine addicted. :(

I drink many, many Diet Dr Peppers each day. I've been drinking it since I was little and have never stopped. I just don't enjoy the taste of many other drinks.

Occaisonally I'll have some tea or coffee, but they're packed with caffeine as well.

I'm not going to stop though.

I don't think I'm *addicted* yet, but I'm on that path. I love love LOVE diet coke, and I get a Starbucks every day. Grande skim no-whip peppermint mocha! Mmmm.

Get ready for my mom's drink. ICED VENTI THREE PUMPS SUGAR FREE CINNAMON DOLCE EASY ICE SKIM CHAI.

Yah00. Starbucks is another thing that pwns my soul.

ditto, grrl.
I've been drinking 2-4 cans of diet Coke a day for as long as I can remember, haha.
My mom freaks out because apparently there are theories about it causing cancer?
oh well. :|

Hmm...oh well.

what is 'dolce easy'?

^ Aha. She gets it with three pumps of sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup.
And she gets easy-ice. She gets all mad when there's too much ice ^_^

Oh...in May I started getting anxiety/panic attacks from too much caffiene. I quit cold turkey that day. It was very scary.
I think I remember those symptons you are explaining. Actually, I had most of them. Especially the muscle stiffness. That was bad.
I hope you feel better. =)

ETA.

hahahahahah ooooh.
I got most of it - I work in a coffee shop. I just didn't know what dolce easy was, and apparently it was just parts of two different parts of the order. hahahah oakfsyfs.
we use torani syrup, which is why i had no idea what dolce was. :P

Wow, I just say "Caremal Frap, extra caremal please."

I love it when people are so complex with their drink orders. (:

Huh. I guess I'm lucky in not having much taste for sodas or coffee; if any caffeine, I'll have cocoa or tea, and not usually every day. Coffee tastes so horrible to me, even if it smells *so* good. I make it all the time for my parents, because according to them what I make tastes better than what they make, which makes no sense to me since I wou'nt touch it otherwise. :confused3

very possible

and if i never drink stuff besides the extreamly ocasional diet coke or pepsi, can i end up with a killer headache from a red bull, or was the headache from something else

yikes hilary! i hope you feel better soon.
maybe try caffeine-free? it may trick your body into thinking its getting caffeine when it's not.
but that may not help at all.

i've never thought about if i was addicted to caffeine or not, but now you guys have got me thinking about it!!

i drink a TON of tea, but I think I could survive without it.
I've never really tested myself though, I know there are tons of days I've gone without tea and/or caffeine, but I'm wondering if I just stopped drinking things with caffeine if I'd feel sick too???

I'd rather not test that theory and just stick with my tea though

I would think it's withdrawl.

I don't drink as much soda as I used to.
Now it's anywhere from 0-3 cups a day.
Mainly because my doctors don't want me on caffeine.
IDK,something to do with the chemo.
I much rather drink Propel,Kool-aid,water,stuff like that.

I hope you feel better soon Hillary!

PS-What is up with those drink orders? I've only had Starbucks once,it was hot chocolate. I hate coffee and tea!
