Today we arose early to head out to EPCOT for EE. We boarded the monorail from the Contemporary at 7:10 am. It was virtually empty! When we arrived at the ticket and transportation center to board the monorail to EPCOT, that too was practically empty. We headed straight for Test Track upon arrival. Walked right into the pre-show and were in our car all within 10 minutes.
I have to tell you...I did not expect to go on any rides while at WDW. I figured I would just be the pack mule the whole time since I get dizzy so easily. But I guess I just got caught up in the magic and went with the flow!! We all loved Test Track!!! We only did it once and were planning to go back to it again before we left, but we never made it. We roamed around, did Innoventions, had a snack and then headed for the countries. I'm a little fuzzy on the Future part of EPCOT because I don't think I was fully awake and my ears were still bothering me, lol.
We saw the boat launches and decided we would take a ride later on.
The kids had their passports and so we went from country to country getting them signed. It was really hot. Actually, I thought it had been hotter during our trip to Wash. DC a couple weeks prior to this, but it was definitely more humid in Orlando! I felt we were rushing through the countries. I would have liked to browse more, but the heat was getting to the kids and they wanted to get all the stamps on their passports before we took a break. We checked out some of the shops and tried to get a little souvenier from each country. The CMs were very cordial. DS & DD forgot they were wearing their Guest of Honor pins and were amazed when they were greeted by name, lol.
We took a boat over to the Boardwalk. What a great place that was! Great views of the Swan/Dolphin and Beach Club. I had hoped to get back to that area some evening, but it never happened. That's on my list of things to do next time. We had originally planned to have an early lunch at ESPN Club, but it was actually about 2:00 when we got there. There was no wait and we had a very good and filling meal.
When we came out, the heat was brutal. My son desparately wanted us to rent one of those bicycles. I think this was the only time during our stay that I said no. DH and DD just didn't have it in them at the time..I went with the majority vote. We were ready to head back to the Contemp. for a break.
We had a dinner PS at The Concourse Steakhouse but never made it..we were still stuffed from lunch. We had E-night tickets and walked over to Magic Kingdom around 7:30 pm.
The streets of MK were already over-flowing with folks readying themselves for the parade. We got our E-night bands at City Hall and made our way through the crowds. DS and DD were able to ride the teacups with just a 10 minute wait and DH and DD rode the Astro thing with about a 15 minute wait. We hopped on the People mover and could see that the big attractions had long, long lines. We would do those later. We happened upon Cosmic Rays and grabbed a snack and a table on the balcony. Nice view of the castle changing colors! Then I realized what a great view of the fireworks we would have! I was surprized there weren't more people there! I stooped down to pick something up that I had dropped and just as I looked up, I saw Tinkerbell flying right towards me!! That was awesome! My daughter was very dissapointed that she missed it...it was very quick, and a stroke of luck that I just happened to look up right at that moment. The fireworks were very nice. We then made our way towards Space Mountain....another winner in our book...we loved it!! Some of us wanted to ride it again, but DS was very tired and already complaining that he wanted to go back to the room. So, we tried to get to the other rides at least once before leaving. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was another great one..we all had a riot on it. DD was not up for Splash Mountain, so I sat out with him while DH and DD did that a few times and then went in the Haunted Mansion.
I wish we could have spent more time enjoying E-night at MK. It was nice to be able to get on those big rides with no wait. I don't think I would even attempt it any other time. Son (darn him, lol) just needed to get back to the hotel so we left around 1:00.
Of course just as we were about to turn out the lights and call it a night, DS spotted a red lizard crawling on the wall of our room! Yikes!! Well, we couldn't turn of the lights with that out and about!! DH tried to grab it to put it outside, but his brut force sent the little fella down the toilet instead (sigh). He then called the front desk to inform them. Of course they acted shocked, lol, and offered to give us another room. He explained that he already flushed the creature and just wanted to let them know what we found when we returned from E-night. I was not about to pack everything up and move at 2 am!! ZZZZzzzzzzz

Sounds like you had a pixie dust sprinkled day! What a stroke of luck to get on Test Track so quickly! :) Glad you got rid of the lizard!

Great report - thanks for sharing

I would be worried about the lizard crawling up out of the toilet at a sensitive time! ;)

I'm enjoying reading your reports so far, Wishy. :) Sounds like you were able to do quite a lot on this day... but "eek" to the lizard! :earseek:
