Wishing more options for max amt people in rooms

I know that I'm not the only one!
We have a DS (17) & DD (14) myself & DH
I feel like there are just not enough options in the Deluxes for 4 that are really like 5!
A one bedroom villa should easily be able to fit 5
The only thing I've found is booking a deluxe room (that sleeps 5)
I'd love to stay at the BC or BWI, but there just aren't enough options.
Don't more of you wish that these rooms closer to the parks would accommodate 5 (or 4 in my case?)
Thoughts
I know Daybeds are a possibility, but not guaranteed

The OKW one bedroom sleeps five with a king bed, queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair. AKV and BLT also have the sleeper chair.

SSR does not have the sleeper chair.

My 6'2" son prefers the sleeper chair over the queen sleeper sofa.

I agree. I wish they had kid suites at the Deluxes like they have at Universal. There is only one main entry door and then you go in the main room, where there is a KING bed and a small-couch/sitting area. Then there is a "kids room" with two twin beds in it, that has its own door and window, but not a door to the hallway. It's off the main room. I think they are about 600 sf total. They are so perfect for a family of 4 anyway. Just enough privacy to spread out a little bit, three beds so less people have to sleep together, and no pullouts. All beds.

Even the one bedroom villas are defective IMO. Too many pullouts, ick. Just give me real beds!

We carry a queen sized Aerobed with us. Our son usually sleeps on it, DD gets a bed and DH and I share one. Works in Deluxe and Moderate resorts, and when we get a 1-bedroom villa. We were going to try having DD use the daybed at BC next trip, but we've cancelled that room.

We travel relatively frequently - over the past couple years, in addition to Disney trips, I've researched and booked rooms in San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Santa Barbara, Monterey, Chicago, New York, Savannah, Vero Beach, Nashville, Asheville, etc. In every single one of these locations, we have beds for four and our youngest is on a cot. We know the cot won't work much longer! So next year, in addition to Disney, it's VRBO in Newport Beach, Paris and Rome.

I'm just really happy that we can find a room for 5 at any Disney destination. Some of our favorites include the Disney Wonder, BWI, BC, Poly and GCH.

From what I understand, priority goes to ppl with a family of 5, but we're not a family of 5..I just have a giant 17y.o. who is the size of an adult.

I'm not saying that a family cannot fit in these rooms, but I think the other poster got what I was saying a little clearer. I would love to have some add'l space within the room. Even having the 2 TV's is great, & an add'l bathroom wouldn't hurt.

Also, you have 3 boys..we have a son who is 17 & daughter who is 14 who don't sleep together & I'm sure other posters who have the kids of the opposite sex can tell you the same thing..

You could book a Deluxe suite or a 2-bedroom villa or even a 3-bedroom treehouse at SSR. WDW does have room options with more space. Unfortunately, they cost a lot more.

Have you considered renting points (we are using Dave's Rentals for the first time in Jan.) for a 2 bedroom villa at any of the DVC resorts. We are headed to BCVs on Thurs and have a 2 bedroom villa with a AAA discount. The only thing with renting points is you don't have daily housekeeping but you can pay to have it daily (we will be doing that in Jan).

We are in a Deluxe (Suite) I suppose that's what it's called. It sleeps 6. It's a WL Deluxe room CL that sleeps 6.

I did try & rent points for a 2 Bdrm with no luck for my dates..& I was looking for anything but OKW & SSR, just because of the distance.

I know that there are more expensive options. I could spend $1800/night for a 2bdrm suite in BC, but that's a bit out of the budget.

What I was trying to say-& maybe I'm just not being clear-I just wish there were options with a little more space (doesn't have to be a 2bdrm)
I wish the room we are staying in @ WL was available at all of the other Deluxe's.
we're not a family of 5, but the way we need everyone to sleep, it feels like we are..

We purchased DVC for some of the reasons that you have mentioned. We have 2 teenage boys, so we can technically still fit in a regular Disney room, but that option doesn't feel like a vacation to us. We purchased DVC so that we can stay in a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom villa at Disney - with a larger villa, we can all spread out and have some separate space. It has made our Disney vacations so much better - they feel more like a vacation now since we can actually relax in our room, and not try and escape it for some space.

I grew up in a family of four, and my brother is six years younger than me, so I definitely get that - my brother was always in the daybed or rollaway!

Would a deluxe CL room at BC or BWI be a good fit for your family at some point? They have either two queens and a daybed (BC) or two queens and a pullout sofa (BWI.) It's not like a regular CL room at BC where you may or may not get a daybed - the deluxe CL rooms at BC all have them. But they don't have the extra TV or the door separating the sitting area, so that may not work for you as well as WL.

I agree! I can not believe the 1-bedrooms claim to sleep 4. It sleeps 2 in a king bed and 1 in an uncomfortable, awkward contraption. My youngest son always sleeps in the sofa sleeper and I optimistically test it for comfort only to be disappointed each time. I can not imagine 2 adults sleeping in it.

I was just looking into this & thinking of a possible split ressie.,we've done it before, but it's still a pain-re-packing & moving...lol
It's strange-I looked at the pics of BWI & they have what looks like 2 TV's & the pullout but no separation per se.

I feel so confused & stressed-lol! We love to stay near Epcot. We usually have dinner almost every night @ Epcot.

I've heard such wonderful things about WL, & I know sometimes change is good, but we haven't gone since 2008 due to my son's swim sched., but this is his last yr before college!

I totally agree!! One bedrooms do NOT fit four comfortably, no less children of the opposite sex!

I even looked at the Garden Cottages, which look so beautiful (on my wish list!) but they have that stupid pullout couch & upstairs is a gorgeous King bed. It has 2 bathrooms & everything! I don't understand why they couldn't fit a pull out sleeper chair even like I've heard about at AKL (Villas, maybe..I forget)

Maybe I'll hit the lottery this week that's huge & I'll be reporting from my Presidential Suite at each of the Resorts!! Haha!!

I think people would be thrilled with the 1 bedrooms if they just put a king bed in the living part of the 1 bedrooms. Maybe build a half wall to give some sort of visual break between the kitchen part and the bed area, but still allow light through the whole room. Keep the kitchens and the tables as sitting areas.

Well, as a DVC owner who would have to pay for that sort of renovation, I know that I wouldn't be thrilled at all. I actually enjoy having a "living room" and would hate it if they changed the 1-bedroom villas into some sort of mutant hotel room.

Totally agree!


Folks have to remember the villas are DVC units and set up with the wide variety of unit sizes EI studios to grand villas. These are not meant to crowd people in.
