Wishing I wasn't such a scardey cat...Hulk/Dueling Dragons/FJ

Also, try to sit in the middle of the ride - like if there are three harnesses in a row, sit in the middle. Its a little less intense.

I agree- keep your eyes open, that way you can anticipate what's coming- your body will get thrown around more and you'll get dizzier faster if you keep your eyes closed.

Know that the ride is SAFE and that you'll be fine :) Have fun!!

I'm a scaredy cat too. A few years ago I forced myself to do Hulk and DD. I enjoyed them! I just get myself too worked up before the ride but once I get going its fun. The only part that still freaks me out is the beginning of Hulk because you are shot up and it happens fast, but after taht its a great ride. Just go for it!! I still haven't gone and TOT...and don't think I ever will.

The advice about keeping your eyes open is interesting. Does it really make something less scary? I always close my eyes on drops like on Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain and Jurassic Park. Maybe I shouldn't....

OP, Forbidden Journey isn't really a coaster but a car on a moving arm. It does give you that sense of a wild ride though and can induce a bit of queasiness in some people. But not everyone which makes this one a hard call.

Hi Planogirl :goodvibes It's not really the motion of FJ I am scared of, more the story line/ lifesize props popping out at me in the dark! :scared1:
The thought of those dementors and spiders really strikes fear in my brain!!!!
That's why I am pretty sure IF I do get brave enough to go on it, my eyes will be closed for most of it, I am sure!!

Cherbear....I'd like to give you some encouragement that if you ever get the chance to do TOT again, GO FOR IT!!! :goodvibes It is very, very fun and I am sooooo crazy that I was so scared of it for so long! I missed out on a very fun ride my first trip due to my fear.

When I finally tried in last Sept, I absolutely LOVED it! Especially the "floating air time" you get on the drop/or rather "gravity pull-down" of the ride vehicle! It is fun, fun, fun.....and my stomach didn't drop at all like I was worried it might! My 14 yo son , on the other hand, really didn't like it much and he's told me I'm probably solo on it on our trip! He has a thing about drop rides making him feel funny and he doesn't like how his stomach feels on them! This coming from a kid who did MANTA at Sea World!!! He's brave when he has someone to share the experience with, so I would really love to surprise him and share a big roller coaster experience with him, as well as FJ!

Maybe I will have to just do what I did to go on RCnRC....Just jumped in the ride vehicle and pulled down the harness before I could change my mind!!!

I may go look at HULK on you tube and see if that helps me visualize what I could expect! Those loops look awfully high, and there's 7 OF THEM!!!!
I'll have to do some thinking on this one!
Thanks for all the replies so far, I am weighing them very, very carefully and appreciate you taking the time to post your experiences!
:flower3:

More thanks for the responses!

For me it's not a fear thing, but rather a physical (motion sickness) issue--I've never actually thrown up on or after a ride (thank goodness!) but I do feel pretty lousy for several hours after riding anything that spins, bounces me around, or changes directions really quickly. Which kinda ruins the theme park experience! Oddly enough, I'm ok on some coasters (really SMOOTH ones)... So it's hard to decide, and I usually like to try everything at least once, but have learned the hard way NOT to try a new "iffy" ride first thing in the morning (unfortunately, that's usually when it's easiest to ride without a wait). So I either wait until late in the day or send DH on for a "test run"--he's usually pretty good at figuring out whether I'll be able to handle something...

Then I would have your DH go on FJ first. My travelmate loves coasters but felt ill after FJ. Motion sickness seemed to be mentioned by several people that came off of the ride.
I felt fine until the 5th or 6th time and then even I felt queasy:rotfl:

Maybe you could try some of the motion sickness medication that's out there? I can sympathize because Body Wars at Epcot did that to me. The only ride that has bothered me in a while is Jimmy Neutron but I seem to be the only one. Maybe it's the appearance of motion through liquid.

Forbidden Journey is fine for me but there is one 'swoop' that leaves my stomach wondering why. That feeling passed quickly though. It's odd because some people prone to motion sickness have no problems with FJ while others who ride everything feel a bit off.

Is that "swoop" you're referring to where you get whomped by the whomping willow and into the quidditch match? That move messes with me every time.

Yes! The car lurches in such a weird way that I always wonder if I'm going to get sick. But luckily it passes for me.

A question about the hulk launch.....Is it more intense/less intense or about the same as the launch of RcnRC???

I am fine with RcnRC launch!

I would say the launch is shorter, so maybe less intense. On RnRC, you are launched into a long section of straight track and then into the loop. On Hulk, there is very little track between launch and the first inversion.

OH NO!! That's all I'll need is to feel sick on that ride! I'll have to order some Dramamine? ?sp? to be delivered to my resort in Disney.....or perhaps have my towncar driver stop at a drugstore so I can get some on my way to Universal, as they don't sell that in Canada....I can see myself maybe needing some!!!

As a general rule, have your butterbeer AFTER riding FJ. I can ride the ride 2x in a row before needing a break. If I have butterbeer before riding....UGH. Butterbeer after = :cool2:
