wishing for a new orleans style dvc resort

We just returned from seeing The Princess and the Frog movie. It was a cute movie, brought back many happy memories of vacations at POFQ/PORS and memories of the years we lived in a small town in SW Louisiana. As we were leaving the theatre my husband expressed the wish of a DVC with Louisianan theme. I fully agree but I doubt it would ever happen. Which led me to thinking, does Disney still have enough land to add more diverse villas as the years pass?

Thus far Disney has used about 40% of the land it owns and that is after giving up quite a bit of what it had-- e.g., for Celebration and for the new Four Seasons resort that will be going in. It has many places where it could still build (including another theme park) although it has issues of making sure land is set aside for environmental reasons. I would not be overly joyed with a DVC at PO because that is a moderate resort and it is already sandwiched by two DVC resorts (SSR and OKW). Also, though a Louisiana theme sounds like a good idea I do not think it would be in the hands of Disney. It is the food issue. I really like cajun food, but I don't like it when it has been dumb-downed to take all the spice (hotness) out of it so it suits the palates of those who have never really come to love cajun food which would undoubtedly happen at any restaurants Disney would include in such a resort.

Is all Louisiana food supposed to be hot? DFDiL (born and bred in LA, Houma) makes food that I love! If she's dumbing down the food, I'll have to give her a huge hug! Her food is delicious!

remember when POR - was called Dixie Landing.....

although been told there are plans to make PO or at least a part - DVC.

so would not expect anything. First DVC would need to think how to make a moderate part of a deluxe. they could not charge the same points costs. that say it would also change the entire plan - because they could not allow us (previous members) to get all the rooms.

I'm with you, kid-at-heart! We were Dixie Landings fans pre-DVC (still vist there most every trip) and I enjoyed the theming in Princess and the Frog. I would love to see POFQ being revamped into a DVC with New Orleans theming.

Saying that being Southern is offensive...is kind of offensive y'all.

I was disappointed that they changed the name, but I don't think all things Southern are offensive.

We went to DL on our honeymoon back in 2000. I wish it was still DL and can't stand that it was changed. I would love for it to be a LA theme. I don't see it happening though. Being from North LA but living in South LA for the past 10 years, I can say that not all of the food is hot. However, it is quite flavorful and seasoned. I had never eaten at a place outside of LA that could get the seasonings right. I don't expect Disney to, either. The food we ate at DL and PO was quite bland.
