Wishful Thinking

There have been several times while my DW and I were camping at FW were we would say to each other, “Wouldn’t it be nice if the Fort had another restaurant near the Meadows (we think something like Cracker Barrel), or some additional camping loops for long term camping (30+ days)”. I found myself remembering those times and I wondered what other campers would wish to have added to FW?

Damn sure not a DVC...

I would like more loops, and there is plenty of room available to them to do it. I like that they took in a cabin loop to make more camping spaces, but I don't want the cabin folks to get the short end of the sewer pipe. Maybe an ice cream wagon going through the loops in the summer?

1) Good thought.
2) But, too many people eat at their site.
3) More restaurant capacity at The Fort would not have enough profit return.
4) You could always walk over to Wilderness Lodge or boat to Contemporary.

Counter Service for a quick meal.
This was my first thought. I like TE and while I know PJ's is a QS (Take out only), I kind of thought that a QS with some seating would be nice. I know the Pool has this but it just doesn't seem to be very convenient (speed, size, location, etc...) especially with the Bees by the fountain drinks.

Bring back the peacocks and peahens. Lovely to look at wandering around the campsites. I never found them to be noisy or annoying. :daisy:

Oh man. During mating season peacocks and peahens are unbelievably loud. They get up in trees and just screech, especially at dusk and dawn, but dark certainly didn't stop them. Beautiful yes, but we once stayed in a campground where a peacock was in full mating mode in a tree less than 5 feet from our motorhome. It was one of the most awful nights I've ever had in the motorhome, and that includes a stop at Camp Walmart where the delivery trucks circled the parking lot firing off air horns at anyone staying overnight (and yes, it was allowed to stay, I assume someone just found it funny).

Here I am at Fort Wilderness, around 1974-75 buying a snack from a panhandler truck that FW cast member use to drive around FW. It carries, cold drinks, fruits, bread, candy and other items, but that was a long time ago for me to remember, LOL
