If you are in the MK and want to exit during wishes, if you have children with you or just want to preserve the magic for yourself (since these days we are more careful about this than Eisner and the boys) DO NOT exit the park the way the cast members and signs direct you...you will be escorted behind Main Street and into a parking lot complete with trash bins, drab bldgs, off duty cast members smoking etc...its a disgrace...this must be changed...Walt Disney would never stand for this...please if you guys are reading this.....stop making WDW into Six Flags...its a disgrace

I agree it isn't very pretty back there, but it is sometimes truely needed, as the crowds are just to crazy on main street.

I wish they would build an enclosed walkway like they have in Paris, that would make it alot nicer.

what it looks like back there is not the problem....its the facts that guests are escorted there

Escorted there, or just walk right into it?

Children should not be taken into any "Cast Members Only" area for the same reason they are not permitted to take Keys to the Kingdom and certain other back stage tours. It will spoil the magic for them, especially if they should encounter half dressed characters.

Sign on emergency exit:
"PUSH HANDLE TO SOUND ALARM
<small>and open door</small>"

At times of extreme crowding Disney has done this. I think they would perfer not to, but figure losing the magic is better than having you trampled to death (that does not help the magic much either!)

They do the same thing at the end of Fantasmic. I think it is a safety issue as by the end of the night people are no longer curteous and emptying the theater (or main street) without the alternate exit becomes hazardous.

I left through these areas at MGM and MK and never thought too much about it. It was just a fast way to get out of the park for me. I actually wanted to stop and take a couple of pictures of some cute "Wishes" signs they had set up back there but the CM's kept directing us to keep moving. I thought it was pretty cool to get to go "backstage" and see what was behind the buildings and such. I wouldn't count on seeing any half dressed characters back there when exiting the park though. The dumpsters didn't bother me, they have to have them somewhere don't they? If there were cm's back there smoking when someone went through I agree that is not cool. I really did think it was neat walking through there though. Different strokes for different folks I guess. That late at night I just want to get out of the park, not much is going to bother me, if they offer me a quicker, less congested path out I'm all for it! :)
