Wishes FP+ Ending

I'll guess 6 at each of the two locations.

(What do I win if I'm right?) ;)

That sounds about right if my memory serves me, keep in mind I wasn't looking to see how many were staffing it... and I could only ever see one at a time :P

I wrote an email saying that I hoped that they would keep Wishes fastpass and this is what I got in return:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Yes, the Wishes FastPass+ offering will be coming to an end on April 18th.

The two FastPass+ areas will be available for everyone at that time.

Thank you for taking your time to share your thoughts with us. When we receive comments such as yours, they are shared with various members of our organization. We appreciate your observations and will share them at the appropriate levels.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

So, she says that the areas will just be used for the general public. Interesting. I was really looking forward to using a fastpass for one of those rare nights in December when there is no MVMCP and the nights when they do show Wishes and MSEP are packed. I hope they keep MSEP fastpasses!

Thanks for sharing the email confirmation. MSEP FPs should continue as it keeps people in Town Square rather than in the Hub while requiring less CMs to oversee the area.

Thanks for sharing the email. No more Wishes for us then. I wonder how much of a mess this is going to create once people realize that these areas are open to everyone. I can see the picnic blankets coming out hours before Wishes starts.

That's too bad. Thanks for sharing the email though.

I still think they are going to try to turn into some sort of upcharge-cupcake-party-area but we'll see.

OH yea, pretty much what we thought, just wish they had said something like "In the process of cost cutting"

Sad :sad1: Thanks for sharing, but that is very disappointing. Why did they ever build these then? Crazy!

I'm wondering -- and just rambling -- if Disney will eventually have those spaces available as a "private" space for a price...kind of like a fireworks cruise or a dessert party. You pay Disney $10 (random amount) per person and you can view the fireworks from that space. You'd have the option of just buying 5 admissions for your family or you could buy the whole space for the total price of admissions and have the area to yourself. They could sell 20-25 (again, random numbers -- just some amount that would allow for plenty of space for everyone) admissions for each "corral" and the admission cost would more than cover the wages of the CM's that will need to be there to babysit. It could be a low-cost, no-frills alternative to the dessert party and cruises. Or maybe they'd make the cost almost as high as the dessert party because it's a better view. :confused3 I do think a PP is correct in that if those areas are just open for anyone to use, there will be blankets thrown down at rope drop to save spaces for families. It will not be pretty.

I completely agree with this. We had an Illuminations Dessert Party at Epcot as part of our wedding several years ago. Just renting the space was a couple of hundred dollars not including food or admission tickets. That included 2 dedicated CMs to act as guides. We would have had a Wishes Dessert Party if there had been a place to do it. Disney could charge a huge amount for private parties in those spaces.

If people start putting down blankets at rope drop then don't they have to pay CM's to police the areas all day? I think Disney has something else up their sleeves with this.

The dedicated FP+ areas take special "policing and supervised admittance " (with a number of CMs specifically dedicated just to take care of the two FP areas, once the areas become active for FP) unlike the rest of the day.
Imagine the number of guests who (knowingly or unknowingly) try to step into those areas during near total darkness and massive crush of guests in the Hub for
1. MSEP
2. Celebrate the Magic
3. Wishes
Disney has created a very difficult situation by running THREE "must-see spectaculars" that can be best-seen in the Hub.

Right but that is just for the few hour window that the FP+ was active. If the areas are now open and people essentially camp out all day doesn't that become a safety hazard for most of the day and especially as it becomes dark? Now people use those areas during the day but then move on to whatever else they are doing.

No more than anyplace else in the over-crowded hub.
There would be no need for CMs to keep guests out of the areas if they are open to all guests… just like the rest of the Hub and Main St.

The way it is NOW (with FP+) it requires separate, dedicated CMs just to staff the FP+ areas.

No more so than they would have to worry about the same thing in the Hub I think. I don't this this would require any more staffing.

I emailed Disney on this telling them that our family really enjoyed Wishes FP+ and to please consider to return it as an option later. I received a phone call and was told that the more emails they receive regarding this, the more likely that FP+ for Wishes may return later after the cuts are reconsidered.

What is the best email address to use?

I emailed Disney about this. I got a call back from Guest Services and they said they hadn't heard of the Wishes FP+ ending and to check back. The woman I spoke to wasn't saying that it wasn't true just that she was surprised to hear about the possibility.

Eee gads, someone over there needs to introduce their left hand to their right.

I've been mulling this over all day.

I'm hoping the CMs were just wrong and those dates will be loaded back in the system soon.

But they didn't build those areas to not use them. That leaves me to wonder if they decided to offer some sort of upsell experience. How has attendance been at the dessert party since they increased the price? Maybe they feel like they could get more, or sell it out more readily if they moved it to the current FP+ viewing areas?

popcorn::

I nailed it:
