Wishes FP complaint

Its not real grass

However, I have read on those boards in the last month or two that there were fire ants on the artificial turf during Celebrate the Magic and Wishes. The poster said that she saw them on her shoes in the FP+ area and she had some bites from them.
Later posts (a night or more after) said that it appeared that Disney had taken care of the ant issue.

Since I've not read any other reports of fire ants in the Wishes FP+ areas, I'm hoping that they will continue to be controlled there.

No bug problems last week.

We just returned last night from Disney and we watched Wishes from the East side on a Tuesday night. The area was just packed. Really, it was standing room only to watch the MSEP and people just kept coming and coming. By the time they started Celebrate the Magic people were crushed up against each other. Also, people were lining up to enter at 8:00 which really defeats the purpose of a fp but after seeing the line we entered early and just hung around but the mentality was the same as always i.e. people claiming the best spots up front 2 hours ahead of time and many kids on shoulders which blocked the view of people behind. The show and fireworks were beautiful and the parade can be easily seen if standing towards the front near main street.

CM's or Managers at Disney can give Wishes FP to guests at their discretion.

For example - when we were there in June I was upset and sent an email explaining the problem (poor customer service by a waiter at a TS) I got a call from the manager at the resort we were staying at, saying he read my email and it would be fwd to the restaurant (I tried to ask for a manager to question our experience and was told there were no managers, they went home, so I emailed)

He then said he was adding a Wishes FP to our MDE account and it won't count for our FP allotment.

so my thoughts when reading this, is it could be a group of people were given that perk??

I was very pleased with our Saturday July 11 Wishes FP+ experience! The park was very very crowded. I finally got to see the Pre Wishes show on the castle without feeling like a sardine. I had actually given up seeing Wishes from inside the park, as DVC members we can go to TTOTW lounge, but from there we never really could see the pre show!

I just want to mention for others reading that what you are calling "Pre Wishes Show" is "Celebrate the Magic" and is not actually a Wishes pre-show.

It is it's own fully self-contained presentation (projected on the castle's front facade) that also runs at times other than right before Wishes.

It's not a big deal, but it can get confusing to many who don't always understand that there are currently THREE regular "after dark" spectaculars running at MK.

Main St. Electrical Parade (lighted parade)
Celebrate the Magic (castle projection show)
Wishes (fireworks)

Reading through these reports I am getting the sense that sometime quite recently (the last week or two) they started increasing the number of faspasses they are issuing for Wishes. We are going on a day with a predicted crowd level of 1, and I'm really hoping we won't have the sardine experience. My kids really want to see the castle projection show cause they had such a hard time seeing it last time we went.

I have been trying to get a FP for Wishes for Aug 18th but I'm not having any luck. I know we should of decided earlier.

I was nervous about the report of ants and was very aware going into our FP. I freaked my poor son out who would not sit but my daughter and I did with no problems. This was July 9.

Hmmmm. Now I'm unsure. I have the claustrophobic daughter. She should be ok if there is an "out" for her..if that makes sense. She is terrified of elevators. But if she can get out if she feels anxious...She should be ok. But I'm questioning if I want to use a fp on this now.

Couple of things here. 1) I like being able to enter at 8 p.m. We grab desserts from the Confectionary and have a picnic while we watch MSEP. Then CTM and Wishes. And 2) Beyond kids on shoulders, the front of the viewing area isn't necessarily the best spot for viewing. We like being farther back since most of the crowd tends to bunch up toward the front.

The CMs don't "make" anyone stand up. There's no Disney jail for those that don't.

Well, according to some of the recent reports of CM insistence,
that might require some overt DEFIANCE by the guest of the CM standing there making a scene about it.

No Disney jail, but who knows the extent an overly-officious CM would go to.
I hate those kind of situations.
They can absolutely sour an otherwise very happy trip.

Is the view from the Plaza restaurant good? One night a few years ago, we decided to grab a late night meal at the Crystal Palace. The lady sat us a table that had an excellent view (to us) of both the parade and Wishes. We liked it much better than being in the hub in front of the castle.

Would it help if you stayed near the entrance/exit? I imagine it would be easier to duck out from there if you had to.

Maybe that is a better idea. I thought getting a fp was the best option...but if you are squished in like sardines....we def. Want to see celebrate the magic also. Im going to have to think about it. I was thinking with the fp..this would be a nice open section.

Maybe they make everyone stand because it would be impossible for some to sit on the ground. What would they handle it if they had adults who couldn't make it down to sit on the ground?
The reserved seating for dinner packages for f! At DLR is sitting only, I believe. I don't think people are allowed to stand ib those sections. If people not getting to the ground were the reason that they required standing in the wishes fp section,.I would think that concern would cause the same decision in both parks.

I'm sure there's a reason for Disney's decision to have those areas standing only, I just don't know that this reason is likely. But we will likely never know the real reason for sure :)

Oh I was thinking stay near the entrance/exit to the FP area so you don't feel as packed in and so you could duck out more easily if needed.

@sersee05 @ArwenMarie has a valid point. If it not too bad, it may not matter. However, the crowds all around mainstreet and the castle can be extremely overwhelming. I was park hopping with a friend and we were entering as a thousand people were leaving right after Wishes and I had to grab her hand, tell her to keep her head down, and literally pull her thru the crowd while she screamed "What are we doing here?!" I said "it's OK, they are all leaving" and we ducked thru Chrystal Palace and thru the back way behind Main St. That exit thru the tunnels is the worst after Wishes. I'd either be prepared to wait out the park til closer to, if not, park closing, or I would watch Wishes as close to the gate as you can and then bolt. The ferry lines and monorail lines are like cattle too. And this was with smaller crowds than we had this last week. So just so you can be prepared...

Good point the exit can be bad sometimes.

Can you wait around in the FP area until it clears a bit, or do they boot you out right at the end?

Nobody gets booted.
(There's nothing else that happens there after the shows.)
