So my 180 day window opened up yesterday and I wanted to grab a 2 person rez for the wishes dessert party. It won't even let me select a date in September to see times available though :( Does anyone know if there is a change coming to the dessert party?

This happened to a bunch of us here (dis forums) who wanted Dessert Party ressies for Sept of 2014. Our window opened and we couldn't do anything! Not by calling. Not online. To further frustrate us, no one had any answers as to why we couldn't buy tix. Only after many calls, emails and daily sharing info on a thread here, we finally were told that WDW was waiting until the MNSSHP dates were finalized. Mind you, the party dates had already been released but I think Disney was watching to see how these filled up and if they could profit by opening up additional party dates, they would. So they couldn't sell tix to the Dessert parties IF there was a possibility that they might want that date for an additional MNSSHP.
It took about 6wks AFTER our 180 day mark til we could finally buy the Dessert Party tix.

crazymomof4 ...THANK YOU!!!! I thought I was going a little crazy. When I called at my 180 day window the woman on the phone said they had already sold out. But I know that's impossible when you can't even select the date on the website. I think she was just getting me off the phone since she didn't really have an answer for me :)

I will just keep checking. It makes sense that Disney won't release tix for the fireworks party when they haven't finalized the Halloween dates. I just wish they would hurry up! :)

Not sure if you're aware, but they no longer offer pre-assigned seating at the dessert party, which means it has no value for us anymore. :(

Soooooo, your saying that there is still seating but it's first come first served on where you sit? and not based on when you book (like at Hoop de doo)?

Right. There have been reports of people inviting themselves to join others' tables, crowding against them, etc. Having to arrive an hour early for a good table (& then having to defend it all evening) defeats the purpose of paying $49 for the party.

Haven't look at threads lately but seems like some were saying you are not allowed to stand at rail either, so if you had a back row seat you are stuck there.

Which I guess would explain the invasion of tables.

I think the price has gone up from the $49 it was last year, but I could be wrong about that. I've also heard that you can no longer stand up against the railing during the fireworks since they have tables now up against the railing. :( So chalk our family up as another group that no longer sees the value in the Wishes Dessert Party and won't be returning this year. My family of 4 would have to spend $200+ for a non-relaxing time on small desserts. If I wanted to stake out my "spot" for fireworks an hour an advance and defend said spot from others taking over it, I can do that at no additional charge on Main Street. ;)

You're right. It's $59 now. :scared1: Ridiculous.

I think I can laugh about the insanity of calling everyday now. It did make the party more awesome knowing how hard I worked for the resize.

I went last Sept. when it was $49, and I had been before that price jump. We still had assigned tables, the desserts were a little better, and it was still less crowded than the street. However, with the new price increase I can't see us going back. It no longer seems worth the cost as there isn't much value to first come first serve seating. We can do that along the parade route. At least if you book it there will be a window of time to cancel if you change your mind. Just a thought, but if it's only 2 of you instead of the dessert party you could have a really nice dinner and see the fireworks from the restaurant. Also you could see them from the Poly beach, and it's a great view. Of course being in the park is awesome too!

I don't know why they took away the reserved seating. It was so nice not having to rush there because you knew your table was your table. Does anyone know why they chose to do that (or have any theories)?

That was one of the many "reasons" we were given from the phone CM's. We (those on the thread) were making a collection of sorts of the variety differing stories we would all be getting from the phone CM's. In the end, some of us ended up PM'ing each other and making up a text chain. We agreed that the first one to actually be able to buy tix sent out a group text to all the rest of us who had been trying for weeks. It worked!
