Okay, looking to do something different while at wdw. Looking into the Dessert party.

Are the desserts worth it? How much desserts can you really eat at the sitting?
Or is this pretty much a seat for the fireworks, that you pay for?

The husband says he's rather go to the Boardwalk and get their brownie cheesecake...:lmao:

Any opinions? Is this a skip or a hit??

you will get a mixed response, some love it some don't/

Personally, I think it is pretty pricey and we don't do it. For the price of this dessert party., we can have a meal somewhere. Or stop and get a dessert item at the bakery or candy shop.

Up to you if you find value in paying that price for dessert and a seat :)

We considered it too, but after reading numerous posts, decided it was not for us. We are more interested in a great viewing spot than dessert.

We're doing it this time (Feb) just because it's something new to try.

I'd rather do the Illuminations boat cruise but I have a mortgage that needs to be payed... :rotfl2:

Thanks for everyones opinions. After considering it, we'll pass, I believe.

There are 4 of us. Our Daughters would be considered "adults" even though they are 11 and 12. They would have to eat lots of desserts to equal the price paid!!

We did it on December 30 for the special NYE fireworks. It was even more expensive than the normal dessert party, and we all felt like it was worth it. We had a great spot for the fireworks, didn't have to deal with huge crowds and trying to save a spot. The desserts were delicious. They were small, almost bite sized, so you could sample all of them easily. After the fireworks were over, we sat and leisurely waited for the MK crowds to die down before exiting. The one person that I thought was going to think it was a huge waste of money was my husband, and he LOVED it. He thought it was a highlight of the trip. I definitely recommend it if you are going during peak season.

I did it this past November. While it was fun to do once and I enjoyed the desserts, it is not something we will do again. If it were a bit cheaper I might consider it but for $80 something dollars for 3 adults, it just isn't worth it to repeat.

We did this in April and we loved it. We knew we'd be going so we made sure we spaced out our meals so we'd be hungry. The desserts were great and we loved being able to sit and watch in a leisurely manner and we got some great photos. However, now that we've done it once I wouldn't pay to do it again. But for the first experience it was wonderful and we really enjoyed it.
:thumbsup2

Really glad to read these posts...we were thinking about doing this in August but now think we may not...looks like more expense than worth it.

It's one of those "ok maybe once just for the experience".

No the desserts are not worth it, 20 bucks a pop, so $90 bucks for my family. They are small servings but you can get as much as you like. You can't see Spectromagic from the area and we missed that.

Go with your dh's suggestion. Now we go to Main street bakery, get a toll house ice cream sandwich and have prime viewing for the parade and the fireworks.

We are trying it for the first time on our next trip. While it is an expense, my DH is looking forward to having coffee/dessert in a reserved spot instead of jockeying for a prime spot only to have people encroach upon it once the parade begins. We will see the parade on another night. We are looking forward to a new experience...and it's worth it for us to try it.

I'm thinking about it as a surprise for my family when we go next December, but I am also weighing the question of "will we eat enough to make it worth it?" I have 11 months to decide :)

4 adults will run you close to 100 bucks. :scared1: Desserts are small, so I doubt if you'll eat enough to make it worth the price. It's more of you're in a reserved spot where you can sit down and enjoy the fireworks.

I just got off the phone with Disney Dining, and they said the last date was December 31 and they had not received confirmation that it will be extended into 2011. From the previous posts, it sounds like it's a given. How did you make reservations for this year?

We were able to reserve it for the end of Jan so it is at least extended till then.

This is a very common question on the Disboards. If you go back and search you can find a lot of responses to your question along with photos of all the desserts. Some love it, some do not. We went this past October and really enjoyed it. We had never seen Wishes before. Also DH is a really big dessert fan. We had a tiny/early dinner so were more then hungry by the time we got there. The desserts were very good and we all ate too much. Do I think it is overpriced? That's like asking if Disney is overpriced :) Yes of course it is. Would I go back every trip? No. But I would go again.

Call back and talk to someone else...I called to book. You can also book online. I checked for availability online before calling. I booked for March, so the CM that you spoke to was incorrect.

We reserved right on the Disney reservation site for Feb...
