I was just looking at the firework schedule for July 3rd. It seems that they are doing Disney's Celebrate America! at 9pm. My seating for the dessert party is at 8:10 on the 3rd. That seems too close together. I am wondering if Disney's Celebrate America! is really at 10pm like Wishes seems to be the night before. Just trying to figure this out and what other people thought.

We got 8:00 for July 3rd for a 9:00 fireworks start. MSEP is after the fireworks (usually it's before) at 10:00. It's also an EMH, so the dessert party is the BEST THING EVER for watching these spectacular fireworks on what promises to be a crazy crowded night. :thumbsup2

They all fill up fairly quickly but I think most people are talking about the holiday week in refrence to the sold out dates. We have been 3 times in the past ( June, Oct) and as long as you call within reason for August it should be ok, Aug is slower then July in my experience.

Thanks for the info - we have it narrowed down to a date that would work really well to not be too soon after a meal so I'm really hoping we'll be able to snag a specific evening in Aug :thumbsup2

So as our Wishes booking date approaches - not fast enough! - I want to ask those of you who have booked before: Are you making your reservations online or calling? And does the time of day when reservations open vary? Do I just start checking every hour on the hour? That wouldn't be excessive at all, would it? :lmao:

Yes, this was the exact same case when we went in 2009. We did the DP with the Fourth of July fireworks (on July 3,) and then Spectro (at that time it was Spectro) was at 10:00 and it was an EMH night.

Let me WARN you....... if you think you're going to leave the DP and go find a spot for the MSEP bring your suit of armour! They were routing people out of the park through Tomorrowland, so it was MOBBED all around the DP and we could barely even get out of the terrace area. Then, the CMs were trying to MAKE us go with the flow out of the park. We said we were staying for EMH, and they said we'd have to go with the crowd because it was too dangerous to go the other way. They said we could either go out to the front of the park and then come back in to watch Spectro, or go with the crowd and then take a left to go through Fantasyland and around through Liberty Square to find a spot.

At that point it was already 9:30 and we were worried we were going to miss Spectro. We waited it out a little bit, and then another CM let a group of us go toward Main St (past the Plaza and Casey's) so we could cross over to Liberty Square/Frontierland to find a spot for Spectro. They said it should have been clear enough by that point so it was ok.

Let me tell you...I have never been so afraid for my safety. It was a MADHOUSE! People were knocking over strollers and wheelchairs, pushing, screaming.... it was nuts. Luckily, we were 3 adults, so we chose a meeting place, and tried to individually duck and weave until we could get across. It took us 45 minutes to get from the DP to a spot for Spectro in front of Diamond Horseshoe. Due to the madness, Spectro started VERY late (I think it was closer to almost 11:00.) I just wanted to give you a heads up in advance. Otherwise, it was a wonderful night and we had a blast, along with a crazy story to share ;)

Good to know; I had heard that elsewhere, too. :scared1: Fortunately, we have another night in the Magic Kingdom for MSEP, so we weren't planning on trying to see it on the 3rd. We thought we would hang around after the fireworks until it was safe to get out. I hope they'll let us as I don't want to fear for my life while I'm at the happiest place on earth. :goodvibes

That is the best idea! Stay in your safe little sugary bubble until it's all clear :goodvibes I wouldn't think they'd have any problem with you staying in there for a little while afterwards. Have fun! It's one of the BEST nights of the year to do the DP for these exact reasons!!

Waiting for Aug. as well ... really want our last night !!!! A little stressed about it! Any theories on what day in May/June.... Aug. will open up? :rolleyes2

Waiting for August too.....I have heard they usually open up the next month on Tues. So I'm thinking around May 29th??!!

Hello All:

Waiting for August as well.

A question though. It seems there will be 8 and 9 pm seating’s. With Wishes at 10pm what time would you recommend? If I make an 8 pm reservation is it ok to show at 8:30?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi sjs314!! :wave2:

I loved your lineup of possible DDP restaurants over on Christine's thread. And CPP and a Dessert Party would really top it off nicely. I am so excited for you. :cool1:

I'm subbed in here. Great thread idea! Not doing Dessert Party for August but maybe my next trip with Mom fall or December. I think she'd like it a lot. :goodvibes

There is only one party...unless there are two fireworks. Everyone is seated together...and the tables are marked the nameplates and only the proper amount of chairs. Taped so there is NO moving tables or names. Doesn't matter when you arrive the tables are assigned before anyone gets there. Get there ant time within 90 minutes before.

Hey Linda

I am thinking maybe actually making it to the dessert party this time. In March we were both exhausted after our 5 pm dinner at Tony's we decided to skip the dessert party and call it a night. I hated losing the money I paid but such is life, we would never had made it we were just too tired. This time will not head to MK till later in the day.

We are also waiting for August.

However, I am confused by the seating times. If you are seated at 8 do you stay there and eat for 2 hours and if you are seated at 9 will there still be food?
I was under the impression that you were seated an hour before Wishes.

We have a res for 7/31. That is DD4's birthday (she will be 5) and dessert party is in lieu of a bday cake. We thought it would be a little more exciting.

She slept through the parade and fireworks past year (in my arms on the curb by the haunted mansion) so Im crossing my fingers this goes over better!

Hi all,

I know most of the May people may not be frequenting this thread so much anymore, but I wanted to post this here too.

I have to cancel my party reservation for Friday, May 18th (9pm) for a party of 3.

I am not going to cancel until tomorrow, so if someone needs it, PM me and we can coordinate a time.

Lisa
:)

We've had to change our dates to the end of next year....so will be back this time next year to watch again! ::yes:: Great thread, Sheila!:thumbsup2

I am desperately trying to get in for 5/28 for my husbands 50th. Do you think there's any hope of a cancellation?

Please pm me if you are canceling. Thanks
