Wishes 10/8/11 WP/GF-- Love's First Kiss-- Trip Report Complete

Thanks for the  Tammy! That was a rough day for me and Brandon.

A little more about music...

For the cocktail hour, we’re providing an IPOD with an all-Beatles playlist. To say the Beatles are my favorite group feels like a serious understatement. When Brandon met me, he pointed out that not a single room of my house DIDN’T have a Beatles knick-knack in it. I breathe Beatles. I only questioned if I wanted a Disney wedding once; I wasn’t sure if I would prefer a Beatles-themed wedding. Anyhoo, all-Beatles cocktail hour.

I don’t know what song we’re entering the reception to (but I’m thinking “Got to Get You Into My Life” or “I Saw Her Standing There”).

Although I’ve started to wonder: Since Brandon and I are the only ones being announced, is there time for a song? Do we not immediately go into our first dance?

Our first dance is “Hold On” by Michael Buble. It isn’t your typical, isn’t-love-perfect, first dance song. But I love it. The first time Brandon and I heard it, we both had a very emotional reaction to it. The message really means something to us: Even if we lose everything else, having each other is enough. I will never make it through the dance without crying. I wish I could be a cool, collected bride, but I’m just not. I’m a big sap.

Haha, I don't think I'll make it through our first dance without crying either! Or walking down the aisle, or saying my vows, for that matter.

As to your entrance, I think it's nice to have a separate song. How about "With a Little Help from my Friends"?

I'm going to be the same way!! I well up just listening to my bridal march song! And that song would be amazing for the entrance-- nice thought :thumbsup2

I don’t have much to update on at the moment… we’re in one of those weird waiting periods. I thought in the meantime I could talk about the plans we have for our wedding week and honeymoon.

Wednesday (3 days before the wedding)- Brandon and I check into the Polynesian. Although I took a lot of heat for it, we are staying together before the wedding. We’re not seeing any of our guests that day. That night, we’re having dinner at the California Grill. That’s where we got engaged so I really wanted to start our wedding trip there. :lovestruc

Thursday
Morning- I have a makeup trial with Beaute Speciale; the guys are trying on their tuxes, delivered from Men’s Wearhouse
Evening- Our immediate families are having dinner together at ‘Ohana. This will be the first time they are meeting. After dinner, my mom is throwing a casual welcome party by the Polynesian pool for the families; All of the young adults are joining Brandon and me at Jellyrolls for a little fun.

Friday
Morning- Bridesmaids Luncheon at the Grand Floridian Café (I love it there!)
Afternoon- Wedding Rehearsal (probably at the GF convention center, WP is totally booked)
Evening- Rehearsal Dinner at Hoop-Dee-Doo! I am SOOO excited for this! I love HDD and I know our guests will get a huge kick out of it. I called at 180 days out, and I was still living in L.A. so I got up at 4 a.m. to call! We are a party of 40, all in Category 1! Can’t wait!

Saturday
:bride:WEDDING DAY:bride:
Brandon and I are having breakfast, just the two of us, at Kona Café. We are exchanging letters, since we are doing traditional vows. I’m thinking of giving him some cuff links, like these:

cuffs.jpg

Our Alma mater, where we met

Then we split. He’s checking us into the GF. We girls are getting ready in my Mom and Godmom’s rooms at the Polynesian. The rest of the day is pretty self-explanatory ;)

Sunday
Dinner- Victoria & Alberts :cloud9:

Monday
Dinner- Plaza Restaurant (not very fancy, but we’ve never been and want to try!)

Tuesday
Evening- Haunted Carriage Ride!! I’m probably too excited about this

Wednesday
Morning- Breakfast at Tusker House. Everyone raves about it and I’ve always wanted to go.
Dinner- Biergarten, one of our faves!

Thursday-Saturday
CRUISE!! We’re in a 1 Bedroom Suite on the Dream. On the Castaway Cay day, we’re getting massages on the beach. For that night, we upgraded dinner to Remy’s.

Sunday
Back to WDW and checking into the Contemporary. Brandon has always wanted to stay here. It was a toss up for us if we wanted this or BLT, but we actually liked the regular photos better. And we have a castle view.
Dinner- Le Cellier (I haven’t been in years, Brandon’s never been)

Monday
Morning- Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s!!
Afternoon- Lunch at Sci-Fi. We think the food here is just okay, but we both love kitsch.

Tuesday
Evening- Bistro de Paris for the last night of our honeymoon.

There are some gaps in the schedule, but we wanted to leave times open for room service, or just eating wherever we happened to be. There are things we want to do that don't need to be scheduled, too. We really want to try a water park and I’m sure we’ll hang out at F&W Festival a LOT. I also really want to try Beaches & Cream one day, those ice cream photos look intoxicating!!

I'm going to be the same way!! I well up just listening to my bridal march song! And that song would be amazing for the entrance-- nice thought :thumbsup2

The Beatles are the only music that DF and I agree on, so we will probably be playing all at our wedding, too. :thumbsup2

You mustmustMUST divulge all details about V&A's! DF and I are going there the night after our wedding as a special 'us dinner.' I am so super excited (and, it's two years away)! :rotfl:

I honestly believe that Beatles music is a perfect choice for ANY occasion :)

I will be glad to! The day after the wedding is going to be perfect. We're sleeping in, renting a cabana by the GF pool, then V&A's. I cannot explain how excited I am for this meal. We LOVE to eat... it's going to be great! Have you thought about what you will wear? I have a dress in mind, but I'm a little concerned that it's too dressy.

Wow! You are going to have an AMAZING two weeks, Missy! I am SO excited for you. Is it sad that I think I am most excited for the Haunted Carriage Ride?!?!? :lmao:(I am SO mature.) I can't wait to hear all about it. It's going to be a kick-butt TR!

Also, I agree about Sci Fi. The food is ehhhhh but man, I love the cat who hated people.

Thanks Jackie, I'll definitely try to speak to the tech guy beforehand. Good idea :thumbsup2

Ok, I need to vent a minute. I know this story sounds bad on the surface, I hope I don't come off as a totally selfish, unsympathetic person.

My fiance talked to his brother (the best man) this weekend, who said he may not be able to come to the wedding. This is his reason:

Brandon's Stepmom's brother has had cancer for about two years now. He recently has decided that he doesn't want to continue chemo. His doctors told him that without treatment his life expectancy is about 2-4 months. Our wedding is a little under three months out. His stepmom is saying she can't come to the wedding because her brother will either be very sick or have passed away, and she will be too sad to travel.

Now, first off, I was a little upset by this because Brandon's Stepmom has been married to his dad for a looooong time. I understand that horrible things happen in our everyday lives and I didn't fault her at all for not coming to any of the pre-wedding showers/parties/etc. I'm still a little surprised that she doesn't mind missing her pseudo-son's wedding, but that's my problem. I also want to include that she has a long-time habit of ditching FFIL's family events. I know that's me being catty, but still it irks me.

HOWEVER now she has decided that October will be such a difficult time for her that either FFIL or FBIL (her son, best man) NEEDS TO STAY HOME WITH HER. The worst part is that they are going along with it!! So now it is very likely that either Brandon's father or his best man will not be coming to the wedding. I can't believe they would do this to him. His feelings are so, so hurt. I would love nothing more than to call them both up and explain to them how much pain they are causing, but it's not my place.

I hope this doesn't make me sound terrible. I just needed to get that off my chest.

It's a tough one, but I completely understand how you feel.

Your plans for your wedding week and honeymoon sound great. Your ADRs sound good, I've always wanted to do V&A.

also... I really like Mindyjoys idea of 'with a little help from my friends'... I love the beatles. x

I thought it might be a good idea to post my inspiration photos. Then, after the wedding, we can see how closely Disney was able to recreate each element.

Before I start, let me talk about my Snow White inspiration for one second. I get asked a lot why my colors are pink/pink/gold when SW is my theme. I think it’s because most people think of SW like this:

snow-white-image.jpg

When I’m thinking more like this:

wishingwell-1.jpg

Soft and delicate. I sort of mixed SW with a ballet aesthetic, like this:

Ok, So this is the picture I gave to my florist—I want my bouquet to look EXACTLY like this:

21.jpg

The BM bouquets are going to be like this (except with my raspberry pink instead of that medium pink)

Pinkwhitepeonies.jpg

The WP is going to have a plain white runner with petals down the aisle, and a plain white altar cover, sort of like this:

aislewithpetals.png

But with little clusters of flowers on the pews and tea candles, kind of like this:

Aislewithcandles.jpg

I so badly want it to be dimly lit in the WP, I'm praying for rain

For the reception, I want the lighting to look somewhere in between these two pictures:

1ballroomlighting.jpg

I like the warmth and lighting level of this picture

uplightingpink.jpg

With the light pink of this. I’m hoping they can do a kind of “warm-toned” pink.

Some of the centerpieces are going to be high and big, like this:

WhiteTable.jpg

In my pinks of course

With little hanging crystals, like this:

20.jpg

And some centerpieces will be small and in glass vases, like this:

PerfectColorCombo.jpg

The cake is something I dreamed after seeing Lurkyloo’s coverage of the Bridal Showcase (these two are her pics, hope she doesn’t mind!)

We’re mixing this draping:

Disneyminicakewdraping.jpg

With these flowers:

Disneyminicakeflowerwbeads.jpg

To create this:

19.jpg

With blush fondant, white draping, and raspberry fondant flower (with little gold beads in the center) and I will provide a monogram cake topper, which I’m still looking for…

We’ll have a little lounge area in the corner, like this:

Loungefurniture.jpg

With black pillows.

And recently, we’ve been tinkering with the idea of having this at the reception:

wishingwell.jpg

Which our florist would decorate with white and blush flowers. I saw it on the Disney Parks blog and swooned.

Fingers crossed it all comes out right!

OhMyGosh--- that last picture!! That is really really really amazing. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with it!!

All of the inspiration pics are lovely!!!

Everything looks so fabulous.. and if you do that wishing well.. it will be to DIE for! It's stunning!!! I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

And I honestly love your color scheme mucho! <3

Wow! Gorgeous inspiration picture! And I love the idea of the well...so unique!

All your details are absolutely gorgeous! Having that wishing well would be so amazing!

Thank you thank you!! I hope that Disney is able to match the vision in my head. I just got a reply back on the well-- they can definitely do it, to have it is $585, so it's not cheap but not nearly as much as I was anticipating. I would love to have it, I've worried for awhile that there's not enough Snow White-ness at the reception... I think now we have to work on a room diagram to decide where we would put it!

I don't have a lot to update on, but I just have to share what came in the mail today...

congrats.jpg

I was so excited!! I didn't quite think it through when I sent the invitation, because how would Mickey and Minnie know that I go by my middle name... Woops. I don't mind though, it's still so fun!

In other news, I have ordered my last bridesmaid's necklace. Once it gets here, I'll check to make sure that it looks good with the other four, but hopefully I will be good to go! Here is the pic from the website:

jessiesnecklace.jpg

For one of my MOHs, who is very bright and flashy. I think it will look good next to the other MOH, which is this one:

pinkWHBMnecklace.jpg

Fingers crossed!

I'm still loving getting RSVPs in the mail-- I get so giddy when I open the mailbox! Our count is currently up to 52, and we have a little more than half yet to be returned. I hope it doesn't top 100. If it does, our BEO will go up for food, alcohol, tables, chairs, centerpieces... eek!
