I have a few questions for you. I'm new to the WISH board but really want to lose weight to get healthier, feel better, and so I can start working on another baby.
I love to work out at the gym but it's just not in the budget right now and probably won't be until summer at the earliest.
So, walking and exercise videos seem to be the best place for me to start. My questions are:
1. What are you using and what do you like about it?

2. How do you get/stay motivated to work out at home?

Please note that I need to lose a looooooot of weight and I don't have one of those thingee's to wear around my neck to call 911 when I have collapsed on the floor :D .

WATP (walk away the pounds) with Leslie Sansone! Easy at first, the 1 mile, but increasingly more effort, and yet fun! with each mile you add! I have been 'doing Leslie' for 11 months now, and I alternate between the many tapes I have. You can purchase them at half.com or Ebay for less than full price - hence my 'collection'. ;) Variety is the spice of life, right? :D

For me, working out, or exercising at Home, is the ONLY option as it takes less time than going to, and working out, at a gym. The only time necessary is the time you spend in front of the TV actually exercising!

Welcome, and Best WISHes in your journey!!

I find working out at home to be MUCH easier than going to the gym. You can do it without makeup :flower: or even getting dressed. It's a matter of habit, once you get into it you're okay. See if blockbuster has excercise DVDs, try several until you find your style. I LOVE Tae Bo, but own quite a few for variety. Get your DS to do it with you or have him remind you -- they are great at that!
Good Luck and YES, Geaux Tigers.......whomever our coach may be

I have Walk Away the Pounds Abs, but I didn't know there were other ones. I just looked at Amazon and I'm surprised at how many there are.
Yes, variety is what I'm looking for. I really hate to exercise so I need to find the right thing for my current physical level that's a little fun (if there is such a thing.)

Oh that coaching situation. I don't have a lot of confidence in what they're doing right now. Saban's telling them who they should interview, LSU goes to Jacksonville, Fl. then supposedly doesn't have the interview they went there for, something's up. This hire will define Bertman's career as AD so he better make it good. I wish Emmert was still here participating in this search.
OK, back to WISH - I do better getting up and going to the gym, but I guess you're right - it has to become a habit. At home I see laundry that needs to be done, the doorbell's ringing, DS needs something - I find the gym more relaxing because there are no interruptions. I will take your advice, though, and look at Blockbuster.
Where in La. do you live?

I have "The Method" Pilates, GIAIM AM/PM Pilates, Tae-Bo and recently added "The Firm" 3-in-1 Body Sculpting System. I love them all. I agree you need variety to keep it fun and I think the variety also helps cross train.

Good Luck!

Another WATPer!! I don't have the "abs" set with the walking belt. I have the other one that uses hand weights.

I love using the tapes because I can look at the time and say... Yep, I have 30 minutes, lets walk 2 miles. Or Darn, not much time, but I know I can take 16 minutes and do the 1 mile. I like how I can vary my effort. Sometimes I work REALLY REALLY hard. On Sunday nights, after my shot, I know I have to walk for an hour, but I can skip the arms if I am too tired. WATP works for me!

I love working out to video's. My favorite is the FIRM video's. I also think that Walk Away the Pounds is great for starting out. It's easy to follow and great for getting you committed to doing exercise regularly.

FIRM video's are addicting though and I really saw great results with it!
