** WISH Volunteers for WDW Marathon Weekend **

Jeanne - If you click on teh map, you can pan and zoom out. It's not far from Space Mountain. Keep going on the road to teh contemp and just past MK.

... I am still having second thoughts about volunteering in the first place. It will be John's first full and he is not nearly as well trained as I was last year. I'm worried that the long shift will be too taxing for him the day before. The final verdict is still out on this one.

Does anyone know what happens if you are unable to fulfill your volunteer duty?

Yeah, Mickey comes and beats you with a stick!

I'm sure they expect a certain percentage of people to not show up and they probably overbook for that reason. If I decide not to do it....and I am certainly leaning in that direction right now.....I will definitely contact them. The phone number gets you nowhere. I left a message earlier today with a question and no one has gotten back yet. Plus, I heard the clothing item is a T-shirt and not a jacket this year. I really wanted the jacket.

Jeanne - Thanks to Carrie's map link (I am the most directionally challenged person on earth), I've finally figured out the relation between our hotel, your hotel, and the Pluto lot. It looks like it won't be out of our way at all to stop by on our way Saturday morning, as long as you decide that John can get up that early. Or you can leave him in bed and we'll drag you along! I'm a little freaked out about getting up that early 2 mornings in a row, but I figure it should help me sleep better Saturday night!

See you next weekend!

Jackie

Thanks, Jackie......let me see how John does with his 12-miler tomorrow and 20-miler next weekend. It's touch and go right now and I don't want to do anything that will make it harder for him. Worse case scenario, we will Scream Team at TTC, Poly and then at the Finish. I will let you know....actually we can decide on the 20th.....you're still with us, right?

Absolutely! Saw the doc yesterday, and he filled me up with new meds. Told me to run indoors for a few days, so I'm going to do as many miles as I can tomorrow on the dreaded TM. Will be my first run since 11/29. But I'm definitely on for the 20th - HAVE to get the mileage in, which is what the doc said when he was handing out prescription after prescription!

Well Tricia i was going to say that is what they do with all the left over pasta from the pre-race meals LOL But I see Jeanne beat me to it :lmao:

Jeanne? Is that the same stick they use for post-muscle or are we talking just a stick he picked up passing thru the MK? :lmao:

Either way Tricia I would RUN!!!!!!!! :rotfl: Or is it Jeanne that is in danger? I see she is on the fence now. Hide behind us, we'll protect you just let me know in advance so I can bring extra garlic bread to go with the noodles flung :thumbsup2 If it's a stick your on your own

Mine STILL wasn't here. Grrr at the snail. Judy your getting poor Cam up at 3 am!?!?!?? Cam if you want to hide out for extra sleep let me know ;)

I was just asking to see if anyone knew. I can't back out - my DH already told me that wouldn't be right, not like I didn't know that already.

So that being said does anyone know what I have to do as a "screaming fan?I will most likely wear my WISH shirt but its the running tank and I don't know what the weather will be like at 4:45 in the morning so I might need to wear a jacket or sweatshirt (I am a native Floridian and its chilly to me even in the 60's - not saying that I don't love the cool weather!!) Of course if I am going to be a volunteer screaming fan I will have to scream a little louder for the WISH team.

OK, I am confirmed for Red WS#2. YAY! :yay:

Where's Jim? "Free Disney water!!" :lmao:

Geez, since Kristi and I started this it sure would be nice if WE would get our packages in the mail. :headache:
Still nothing here... :confused3

And for those of you lamenting that you have to get up early two days in a row....I feel your pain, doubled! I have to get up at 4am for an early flight on Friday, 2:30am for a race on Saturday, 2:30am to get Charlie off to the Full and for me to volunteer on Sunday, and 3:30am the next day to get our bride Cam off to the MK.... :faint: Guess what time I'm going to bed Monday night?
:charac2:

Jeanne: I figure from looking at the map, that it might be possible to take the monorail over to the Contemporary and then walk out to the road and make a right and go down. Doesn't look too far, but not sure. Would still like to know if we are supposed to meet there first and not WWoS?? Do I need to check in at the expo as a volunteer like we do as race participants at one of the booths??

If I can't take the monorail I may need a pick up or something Maura ( you said you had a car right??)

Last year I had to check in as a volunteer at the Expo in the volunteer trailer thingie.

The morning of the full, everyone was required to check in at WWoS and then take Disney bus transport to their designated volunteer spot. It actually was run very well, and it was very easy. After your shift, you had to bus back to WWoS on the volunteer buses and check out to get your one day park ticket.

I am assuming all is the same this year - was run very smoothly last year.

Thanks, Diane! Actually, Judy is being a sweetie and not complaining about the fact that I am getting up for hair and makeup at 3:30 a.m. Monday morning and since she is staying with me, she's getting up too. :lovestruc

I am so excited about volunteering for the full, even though it will be one of many early mornings.
Thursday -- up at 3:30 am for 6:00 flight to Orlando :goodvibes
Friday - up early for 5k (Howard and DS15 are running it) :cheer2:
Saturday -- up early for 1/2 marathon :cool1:
Sunday -- up at 2:15 to work red water stop #2 :grouphug:
Monday -- up at 3:30 a.m. for hair and makeup before pix at MK :cloud9:
Tuesday -- up early for breakfast with in-laws at 7:50 before they fly back to Pittsburgh and Oklahoma

:faint:

Last year Volunteers had to check-in at a trailer behind the Milk House to sign a waiver and get our lanyards. I'm sure we have to check in somewhere, otherwise how will we get our credentials? They are very strict about not letting anyone volunteer who does not have their lanyard credentials. Let me see what I can find out.
