** WISH Volunteers for WDW Marathon Weekend **

I wanted to sign up for the offical volunteering, but have decided against it. DH and I are staying at the Poly though and I will try to walk out and cheer everyone on. Since this is our first Half Marathon, I didn't know what kind of condition we would be in and didn't know about getting up at 4am again. Plus, we are leaving on Sunday and have to get all packed up and everything. But, since we are at the Poly, I am planning on getting up and going to cheer everyone on. I think Mile 9ish and 13 (so I've heard) are within walking distance.

I signed up as a volunteer for the marathon, but it was slim pickings for positions left. I ended up volunteering for:

1/11/09, Course Monitor Epcot Start Area Volunteer, 3:00 AM - 9:00 AM

There were no water stations left, and I wanted something that I would be done early enough to hopefully go somewhere else and cheer.

I got my "confirmation" volunteer paper today. WS #11 during the FULL!! It gives a parking information on it. NOt sure what that means?? I guess I am supposed to check in at the EXPO to get the final directions??

Was that confirmation in email or snail mail? I didn't get anything today and we are signed up for Water Stop #7 during the Full.

You know we're not going to have any vocal chords left after that Sunday It's going to be a blast!!!!

Diane - I know me and Tracy got our letters in the mail yesterday but we are just 3-4 hours south of WDW so it probably got to us quicker. I am sure you will see yours soon. I am so bummed that I am not assigned to the area I signed up for.

Mom's arrived today so mine should be here Fri or Sat. Mom is at # 7 of the Full which is what we signed up for so hopefully the other 3 of us are the same.

Carrie I was wondering where you were, I was at the gym tonight thinking I have to find out. Gotta know where everyone is at so I know who I'm running to next

We got our confirmation also. I had actually been thinking of backing out due to transportation issues. I thought we had to show up at WWoS and since we are at the Poly without a car, it would be too difficult. Our confirmation says we have to report to the Pluto parking lot. I tried to find a map of the parking lot, but can't. Does anyone know where Pluto is? Can we walk to it from the Poly? If so, we will probably be able to volunteer.

Jeanne If you are volunteering for the full, I would be happy to pick you up and bring you to wherever we need to go. My confirmation says Pluto parking lot, too. Also, I know Tracy is staying at Poly, so transportation fhouldn't be an issue--for the full, anyway. we're both doing the half.

jeanne - Are you at 1 & 11 too? My parents ended up volunteering, so my car got filled. However, with it being at MK parking, I coudl drop dh adn mom and dad off and tehn drive over to the Poly likedly split. Not like it'd be far at all!! Besides, I told you I'd get you rhere. Would not leave you hanging.

Geez, since Kristi and I started this it sure would be nice if WE would get our packages in the mail.

And for those of you lamenting that you have to get up early two days in a row....I feel your pain, doubled! I have to get up at 4am for an early flight on Friday, 2:30am for a race on Saturday, 2:30am to get Charlie off to the Full and for me to volunteer on Sunday, and 3:30am the next day to get our bride Cam off to the MK.... Guess what time I'm going to bed Monday night?

Carrie: I got the map on the link, but can't figure out where it is......it appears to be around MGM, but my confirmation says MAGIC KINGDOM Pluto lot. I do NOT want you to have to do a second trip at that ungodly hour. I called the # on my confirmation, but all you can do is leave a message so hopefully they will get back to me. I am still having second thoughts about volunteering in the first place. It will be John's first full and he is not nearly as well trained as I was last year. I'm worried that the long shift will be too taxing for him the day before. The final verdict is still out on this one.
