Wish they would have new character meals!!!

A few years ago, there was rumors that adventureland would be completely redone and there would be a pirate themed restaurant inside a ship that was to be built. Characters would include Captain Jack as well as Peter pan. This sounded fantastic, but I guess it never happened and was just a rumor. I wish it were true as I would be on the phone making ADR's right away.

Pirates...Toy Story...Monsters Inc....

Those would go over great with my son!

And I think girls like Toy Story and Monsters Inc. And girls don't like pirates???? Are you kidding me??? Seriously I myself as an adult would go to the pirate one!!!!

My daughter would LOVE a Peter Pan themed meal with Peter, Hook, Wendy and Tinkerbell. That would be awesome.

She'd also love a Toy Story meal. I agree with a PP that Toy Story has really stood the test of time and has universal appeal. That Hollywood & Vine character meal is sad. None of the kids know who JoJo and Goliath are anymore! Of course, I'd also vote to re-theme Sci-Fi into a Cars-type restaurant, but I'm probably the only one that would love to eat in a Mater truck!

Cars themed restaurant???? Heck Yah!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I eat with you in the Mater truck???

:flower3:

DS would flip for a Toy Story meal. Seriously, I'd have to up our next trip date. With all of the Toy Story promos going on, we can hope!

My DS would also kill for a Pixar themed character meal. However, I honestly feel like Disney won't make any changes to the current meals until we all stop going to the ones that they have. When there are empty seats on a regular basis, then Disney will care.

My DS is a Playhouse Disney nut and we have the breakfast booked for our trip in May we will NOT be keeping the ressie as we have more ADRs than DDP credits and would be paying OOP for that meal. At 2.5 he has no clue who JoJo and Goliath are and we have already met the LEs multiple times at DCA. But, on the off chance that Disney comes to their senses I am holding on to that ADR--just in case a miracle happens!

Hi! :) I would love to see a buffet with Toy Story or pirates characters. That would be really cool.:thumbsup2 I would love to see how the imagineers would decorate the dining rooms.:goodvibes

Toy story would be perfect at Hollywood studios at hollywood and vine for dinner. They have the amazing toy story mania ride there. OH man I would LOVE a pirate dinner. don't even need food just bring on JACK SPARROW:banana:

Heh.. Just think if they had a Jack Sparrow that LOOKED like Johnny Depp how many mom's would be booking for..themselves. ;) That would be one hard to get into character meal! :lmao:

ME ME ME!!!! Plus my DSs and DD would love to go! But really a character meal..and I like the name "Adventure Character Meal"... with characters such as Cap'n Jack and friends, Smee, Cap'n Hook, Peter Pan, Incredibles, etc would be awesome!
Also the Character at DHS should really really have Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bulls Eye, Up Characters etc! How cool would that be! Our family would be there for sure!

Sounds like a super idea to me... I know in the new plans for MK there is a new Princess dining place coming... :)

^^^ Yes, the "Be Our Guest" restaurant, but it's not certain it will be a character meal (though it would be cool if it were). Some are speculating there will be a Lumiere animatronic character (like Remy at Chefs de France).

We have both a girl and a boy so we do both types of meals (princess and non-princess) but I do agree there should be more boy themed characters around. For example, a Toy Story character meal would be a huge hit in our family. Both our kids love Toy Story. Our DS is obsessed with the little green aliens from Toy Story. Not the green army guys, but the three eyed short alien characters. We would be at that character meal in a heartbeat! A pirates of the caribbean themed character meal would also be awesome.

Okay may be could make some requests of the imagineers! I'm sure many of us here on the Disboards would do well in helping contribute to the new restaurant concepts. Just ask us Disney, we'd love to help! ::yes::

I know a lot of little girls and big girls that would gladly go to a pirates meal. At DL, the line for Jack Sparrow is generally the longest line I have ever seen. At MHSSHP, we gave up after waiting for 15 minutes and not budging. I heard of people waiting two hours to see him that night. I think a Jack lookalike would sell very nicely. With a wig and enough mascara, its not that hard to make a guy a decent Jack!

Mickey, Goofy,Donald, Stitch, Chip and Dale all sell at WDW character meals. So why wouldn't Buzz, Woody, pirates sell as well? Throw in Jessie or Wendy to appeal to the girls and you have a well rounded roster!

I would kill for a Toy Story meal at DHS. The one at Hollywood and Vine only appeals to very young kids, toddlers really so what's the logic in that?

Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel has their meals geared to both boys and girls. Each meal has Goofy, Pluto and Minnie. Then you get at least one princess and then you have something along the lines of Genie, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Aladin. The Minnie and Friends breakfast at DL also has this same sort of roster. If DL can and does do it, why can't WDW?

I don't think that boys don't make money. As the mother of a young boy, he has already accumulated just as much "stuff" as my sister and I had at his age (2) because parents and grandparents love their sons just as much as their girls and when my son who's two, says "Cars" as his first word, referring to the movie, it melted my heart just as much as if a daughter said "cinderella" (ha ha).

ITA that they need to update the Playhouse Disney CM - I would like to see them keep it Playhouse Disney themed though - Manny and OSO would be perfect! Manny is EXTREMELY popular and if I were disney I'd throw in a newer show like OSO to cross-promote the show!

I would also love a pixar character meal with any of the movie characters. And it's not really just "pixar" it just happens that the Pixar Disney movies were the more popular ones recently. So I'd love a CM with some of the recent movie characters in it. I think Buzz, Woody and Jesse would be an enormous hit, as would the Incredibles (they just seem character-mealish to me).

As an adult woman, I appreciate all the more "boy" themed movies (Cars, Toy Story) and don't see them as gender driven. However, some people would see a TS CM that way and the parents of boys would flock to them even just for that reason. Disney would make money.

In fact, I'm SO confident in this idea that I would bet that we see it happen in the next 2 years. any takers?

I know a lot of you would like to see the toy story character meal, but when I think about it, I would prefer a pirate character meal since you can already meet toy story characters in MK and DHS. I think if I'm correct, they stopped the captain jack meet and greets, but I remember the lines to meet him were super super long cause you couldn't meet him anywhere else. (only see him some of the parades). That was really the only time you could meet a pirate. At least you can meet the toy story characters in the parks still so I would love to have a pirate meal, but any new meal with new characters would be great regardless.

1) Boys don't sell, girls do.
2) Even if they sold to boys, it might turn off girls.
3) Thus, not well attended.
4) Been part of lots of conversations on the matter.
5) Just plain facts.
6) Ever hear of a prince breakfast?

NOTE:
Yes, they did have a villains meal.
They did consider a Pirates meal, but nothing came of it.
Girls aren't into pirates.

Hi TheRustyScupper! :wave2: If you've been part of the discussions regarding expansion of character meals, perhaps you can take a few things back to the table for the decision makers. Here are a few:

1. Moms are generally the ones making dinner ressies. Many women are into the pirate theme since a lot of people are into Pirates of the Caribbean and in particular into Captain Jack Sparrow. ;) That has nothing to do with whether their children are girls or boys. It's got more to do with Jack Sparrow. "Savvy?" ;)

2. As a mom of a boy and a girl I can tell you both our kids would enjoy a Toy Story character meal and/or a Pirates in the Caribbean character meal. As you know the Disney Cruise Line offers the Pirates in the Caribbean party and it's a huge hit. Why not offer a similarly themed meal at WDW and/or WDL? Add Jack Sparrow, Captain Hook, Elizabeth Swan, and Mr. Smee. You'll be all set. :thumbsup2

3. As per items 1 and 2 above, either Toy Story and/or Pirates would be extremely well attended. It would still be a Disney themed meal and thus it would appeal to many people that might not be into the younger themed characters (Jojo and Goliath at Hollywood and Vine for instance). If you don't believe us do a trial and see what happens. ;)

With the addition of the Pirates League and the Pirate rooms at CRB they are starting to get the hint. Let's hope for a PoC or TS in the near future.
