Nice job kat, a finish is a finish. Sometimes those brutal finishes are something to be more proud of because you get through them despite the adversity.

I'm in the NYC lottery too. Obviously if anyone gets an entry and doesn't want it, I'll happily take it :p

Thanks!! Good luck on the NYC lottery!! If I had one to give you, I would. :goodvibes

I am just happy that so far my shin is happy. No pain at all.

This is my training plan, any suggestions? I am a Galloway program follower, so I will be also working up my intervals to get to a 1:1. I will likely start the first week in a walk 3, run 1 interval.

CrewMatt ~ Well, being from not NYC will bump your chances up a little. Good luck!!

Kat ~ Do you have any XT/core work in that schedule? It might be a good idea to take a rest day or two and add in some core XT. Just a thought.

You know, I actually forgot about about the fact that I play ice hockey on Sundays, 2 out of every 3 weeks. So I get XT for that. I attribute hockey to never having issues with IT bands or hip flexors. I edited it to add in hockey.

Maybe I will take the 3rd short run day and change it to XT/core. I have been considering some water aerobics and/or pilates/yoga. I put a few of those in as well in the early weeks and will see how that goes.

Thanks!!

Sure! I definitely credit my XT/core work with helping me stay pretty injury free!

Hey guys! It's been a week since my return from Princess weekend and am still going through withdrawals! I had a blast. But racewise, the 5K was much harder than I anticipated. I had to remind myself I had taken 3 months off for a stress fracture then a very slow return to running just 6 weeks earlier. So all in all, I had a great time.

I was also part of cheerleading squad for my cousin and her friend running the Princess Half. Best thing I could have done for the same race in 2012-- although when the alarm went off at 3:15 am I wasn't so sure! ;) But just being at the start, witnessing for myself the sheer volume of runners, was incredible. Watching runners come through the castle was so inspirational!

I'm training now for Expedition Everest and then the Wine and Dine Half. :scared1: Seeing the Princess Half was just what I needed to up my motivation. It also helped that the two Princesses I was cheering for can't wait to do it again!

Good luck to everyone in their training. It's so much more fun to run in the spring!

Congrats on the 5K!! Especially with the fracture! You definitely have to come back and do a race report on the Expedition Everest, I really want to do that one it looks like so much fun!!

Kat, congrats on finishing! It sounds like it was a great weekend.

Meredith~ from what I've heard HoJo is a great hotel. I know a lot of DL Disers that stay there b/c of the Entertainment Book coupons that they get. The gates will be open for you to walk through to get to the start race mornings. It should take about 20-25 minutes and you'll see a ton of people. Depending on what you do before you run, a couple coffee places and Jamba Juice are open at 3:30 race morning if you like. As for flights, I got an email from Southwest today that they're adding a couple cities in South Carolina this month so you could check them out as well. I can't wait for race weekend!

I am SO jealous! Wish they'd come to Charlotte!!

I agree...even though I'm in SC, Charlotte would be MUCH more convenient for me than Charleston or Greenville/Spartanburg. Too bad...the prices were really good!

The best I can find out of Charlotte puts us in the $450 range for each of us. Ugh! I did see a $270 somewhere. I need to remember where that was and probably just go ahead and book it.

I know you're probably checking it already, but you can do Orange County and LAX. LAX is just a little further out, but you can do the Super Shuttle. I'm doing that. Southwest already seems a little high going in and out of Orange, so I'm doing LA.

Hi Everyone! sorry I have been sparse but I have been so busy I swear its hard for me to just sit for 5 minutes! But I guess its a good thing!

That sounds like so much fun!! So do you work for Disney or are you an independent TA?

Kim - I am an independent TA, but trained by Disney. I am actually going down in June for 5 days.. SOLO.. no kids, no hubby for a travel agent conference/training :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I so can't wait!! Its so much fun helping people plan and book their trips.. PLUS it gets me down there more.. you know.. for research! ;)

I sure hope you get in the NYC!! I am just a train ride away! I would love to come up there and cheer you guys on! (you too Matt!).. as long as its not too cold!! :lmao:

Hey everyone, it has been FOREVER since I have been on this thread!! I slacked big time after the Wine and Dine last year and joined a training team for a 10k I am doing in just a couple weeks, that is going great so far!!

After talking over text with someone I met via DISboards and met up with at the Wine&Dine, I have set some goals for this year...she has motivated me to try some new races and set a lofty goal for both of doing our first full marathons

April 2nd - Ukrops Monument Ave 10k in Richmond, VA
May 22nd - Run for the dream 1/2 marathon in Williamsburg, VA
Nov 12th - Richmond half marathon
Jan 2012 - Disney Marathon!!! EEK :scared1:

I am very excited to have some great goals set and will be hopefully joining another training team after my 10k ends :thumbsup2

Hey guys!! Training's been going, this week is a nice short run, 8-10, so that's nice. I love those weeks!! :cloud9:

Signed up for the DL 5K today, space was going quick so I'm in both again this year. It'll be fun!!

Hope everyone's having a great week!!

Hi All! Been lurking around, just enjoying all the advice and encouragement these boards have to offer.

Princess Half was a great experience for me! Definitely will be going back for more. For now, my hubby has decided that he wants to give it a shoot. He said he thinks he ran just as much as me, getting from spot to spot to cheer me on. So, we have set our sights on Marathon weekend 2013. (We could do 2012 except for the finances.) I'm considering Goofy, but I think I want to give a "local" marathon a shot first before spending all the money for Disney. Think I'm going to give the Houston Marathon a go in January 2012.
Other than that, we're just going to stick to some local 5 and 10K's. We're signed up for the Crescent City Classic in New Orleans in April. Hubby will walk it, and I'm unsure if I'm going to stick with him since it's his first, or "run my own race". We'll see.

Hope everyone is out and running, and staying healthy! High temps are right around the corner of us here in Louisiana.

Hello my disney-loving runner people! Is everyone still out there?

So sorry to be MIA for so very long.. lets catch up.. Last time I was on I was training for Wine & Dine, and it was absolutely terrible! My training was about that same as previous races (prolly not enough), but was fighting an infection at the time. I was on three different antibiotics at the time, but feeling ok.. until I started the race and felt terribly nauseous throughout.. Powered through it for my worst finish time ever, and made my runnerbuddy promise not to let me sign up for anything for the January marathon weekend.

Took almost a month off to rest and rejuvenate and feeling much more pleasant about running and Disney in general now! Running has been going well lately and I'm planning on a half marathon April 3.. really hoping it goes better than the last one! I have no idea how I will do because the course is rather hilly and I have no hills at all around me on which to train.

In other news I've always dreamed of working at Disney. I know its not as glamorous as I imagine, but the time seems right, so I thought I'd give it a shot and audition and see where it takes me. princess: Thats coming up next week so I'm not sure what to me more nervous about, that or the race!

Congrats on the Princess race!! I'm doing Goofy in '13 so I'll see you there.

Have you ran the Crescent City before? NO is my all time fav city, and I've always wanted to run that one.

Good luck on your race and audition next week. Are you going out for a face character or a dress character?

Not much but rain going on here. Went out this morning for a quick 3 and came back soaked. Think I have 13 this weekend scheduled, but haven't looked yet. Long runs are back!!!

Other than that 3 weeks til I leave for Boston.:banana: Dad's getting nervous, but I'm getting excited. Of course, I just have to do a 5k whereas he has to do the full marathon, but really, what's a few 23 more miles? :rotfl2:

Hope everyone's well!

Was the National Half Marathon the one that was in DC this past weekend? I was up there sight seeing and saw a race going on :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! Just checking in. Sounds like everyone is pluggin along and have set some great goals. Lullabee-- good luck on your audition! Be sure to let us know how it went!

AFM, DH bought me a treadmill for Valentine's Day-- don't worry-- I wanted one! :thumbsup2 We ran cable to the room where we have it and now I have a tv about four feet in front of my face while I run. Great incentive! But I'm still running at least one time per week (out of my 3 runs) outside. It's so much harder for me, so I have to force myself to get out there.

Happy training everyone!

This will be my first time in the CCC. I love spending time in the Quarter, and think we will enjoy this run. This year, it's kind of a "family event" as my sister, her BF, my Aunt and Uncle are also participating.

Still trying to decide if I'm going to run my own race, or keep with the hubby since it's his first one.

Yes the national half was this past weekend. It was a fun race, logistically challenged, they didnt seem to accommodate the growth as well as previous years. When were you on the course?

I was actually staying at a hotel by Dupont Circle and I was headed to Starbucks over there and saw people running...I am thinking it was around 8 am or a little later
