WISH Team Marathon Weekend Events

There are two main WISH team events on marathon weekend: dinner at POP food court on Fri, Jan 11 and breakfast Mon, Jan 14 at Boardwalk Bakery. Last year, racers also met at the start of each race to hangout together for moral support and pace grouping. Generally, we gather at the end of the race at the W tent (which didn't exist last year) though we did find each other for a photo op with medals. Anyway, please post where you'll be, how many you're bringing with you and when. Also, if you're scream teaming or have a scream team, please post their location. If anyone has any ideas for other events, please post 'em! I'll keep a list here of who's doing what.

Come on over to POP and bring your scream team for the kickoff of marathon weekend WISH team events! Meet and greet, gather for the official team photo, then hangout and eat together. POP was very accomodating last year and we all had a great time together!

Erica and I will be there for both meets and the pre race huddles. We don't have any scream team. We are staying at the Dolphin.

We will be arriving on Jan 6th and leaving the morning of the 17th. We are open to any dinner ideas, lots of places we haven't eaten at.

A meet at Pleasure Island would be fun, I think there are a few interested in going there for the after race party Disney is putting on. There is a free ticket in your race goody bag.

Someone is not getting excited about January already are they?

Mel - We're arriving 1/11 and we're leaving 1/20. We'll be at the POP meet and at the Boardwalk Bakery meet. It will be me, DH, DD6 & DD10. DH is running the 1/2 so DD's and I will be scream team at MK main street and at Epcot before entering the park for the finish. For the full I will be at the WISH meet area pre-race and DH & DD's will be scream team on main street in MK, Animal Kingdom parking lot and Beach Club.
I will most likely walk back through EPCOT after finishing to join my family and cheer runners on from the Beach Club. We'll have our cow bells
Why do I still get so emotional about this race after of all these years ? I can't wait to share the weekend with our WISH family .

Mel - The DW and I will be at POR from 01/10 - 15. Please put us down for the POP and Boardwalk Bakery meets. We'll be at the finish for the 1/2, sceam team location TBD.

For the full, the DW is scheduled to be at Waterstop #2 blue, and will be at the finish. I'll be at the prerace location, and (god willing and the creek don't rise) at the finish.

Let's see--we are arriving on the 10th and leaving on the 15th--that is if DH ever buys tickets!!!!! Anyway......we are definitely in for the POP meet, hopefully we'll have the kidlets with us to show off, but IL's might steal them away from us--so put us down for 4. I'm also hoping to scream team it for the half--but not sure where. The poly/GF sounds like a great location. Mel, can you help me with directions on how to get there?

We (I say we, b/c DH is being dragged along with me everywhere) will definitley want to meet up both at the start and finish of the full. And then put us down for 4 for the bakery meet on Monday (heck, how can we not do this one since we're staying at BWV!)

Hey there everyone.....WOW makes it seem so close now that we have officiallly got planned events

We are arriving Jan 10th - 14 staying at POP. Myself and DH

We will be at the dinner on Friday night at POP
Not sure about breaky on Monday will depend on our flight home which we have not booked yet.

We are at waterstation #22 for the marathon so will be screaming there!!!!

With my volunteer times I don't think we will be at the start or finish of the marathon but I will be at the start and finish of the 1/2.

Also we will be at Pleasure Island on the Sunday night to celebrate!!!

I'm so excited about this trip! I'm traveling solo as well and I'm not sure about the Pop dinner because TNT is also having one, but I'm not sure what time. I'll be @Pop from 1/10-1/20 and will be able to meet up for breakfast. I'm not sure if you guys want to wait for me after the full because I'm sure I'll take the entire 7 hours to walk it. lol. Krista and I will be arriving on 1/11 and staying through 1/20. Count us in for the POP Friday meet and the BW Bakery on Monday. We'll be scream teamin' it for the half (location TBD) and we'll be at the finish afterwards. I'll be at the start for the full; Krista will be at water station #2, red start I think. She'll be will the scream team at the YC/BC later that morning, and we'll both be at the finish of the full.

Is anyone still thinking of something like the Illuminations Dessert Party on Sunday evening after the full? We didn't go to it last year, so I have no idea how it turned out, but it sounded like so much fun.

I can't wait to see all you guys! The weekend is getting closer and closer!

DH (jims2cool) and I will be staying at Pop 1/10-1/19 and will definitely be there for the WISH dinner

For the HALF

DH will be on the lookout for WISHers before the half, especially walkers who plan to finish in about 3:15. This will be his first half without me, so he is a little nervous.

I will be cheering for him and all the WISH team maybe on Main Street, but definitely outside Epcot.

We will both hang out at the W tent at the end.

For the FULL

I will be at the start very early - I am one of those who catch the 3AM bus.

DH will be volunteering at RED waterstop #2, and then, if he has enough energy he'll be cheering outside of AK, MGM, AND at the finish. With all that running around after the half, he might not be getting a goofy, but he sure is a Prince!

It will take me 7 hrs to finish the full and we will stick around for a while and celebrate with WISHers.

Monday

We will be at BWI for breakfast. Well, I definitely will be, not sure about Jim. Poor guy has to go to Vegas to get a relaxing vacation!!

My scream team is all women I work with. I even convinced one of them to do the 5K on Friday (still working on the others. They keep saying yes, but haven't registered yet ) So I'll be the scream team on Friday.

DH, DD16 and I will be arriving 1/10 and leaving Sun afternoon 1/13 (those darn high school exams!), staying at POFQ. DD is running the 5K (DH may do it as well - TBD). I'll definitely be at POP Friday afternoon; I'm assuming they'll join me, but it depends on how much fun they're having in the parks.

I'll be at the start of the half on Saturday and hopefully the finish! DH and DD will be scream teaming, but I don't know where yet. I'm giving them Krista's suggestions and assuming they may use those. Sunday I'll be scream teaming for the full, hoping to drop in on the WISH water stop, but am open to suggestions since it's my first time.

DH and I arrive on the 10th at Pop, then move to Poly for the 12th and 13th. I'll be in the 5K, then screamin' for ALL my WISH buddies at Poly on the 12th and 13th!!! It was great to scream during the Full there last year, have breakfast and move over to YC to scream some more! We'll be at the Pop meet on Friday! Anne

I think I have everyone listed up to here.

Stephanie...I think the easiest way from BWV would be to ride the bus over to EPCOT, then monorail over to TTC. You can take the resort monorail or walk to Poly from TTC.

Steve...we would need a point person to organize/hold the contract for another Illuminations dessert party. Anyone interested? I also thought about trying to arrange a Wishes cruise for that night instead.

Terri...bring as many as you like. Pop has lots of room and we usually try to be there early enough to not cause a problem for the restaurant.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Chad & I plan to be at Pop on Friday and the Bakery on Monday morning.

I will be at water stop #2 for the full, then moving to YC/BC or near the finish.

We are booked at SSR, but I am waitlisted for just about every other DVC property.

A get-together Sunday night would be fun. We are not going to have park passes, so a WISHes cruise, or PI would work great for us (we are not big IllumiNations fans).

I will be doing the Half - Chad is going Goofy.
So, I will probably be at the WISH tent after both races.
