Congratulations. You make it seem a little bit more possible to get a job before moving down. All I've been hearing is that you need to live in FL first before they'll even look your way.

In all honesty, most jobs do want you to live in FL before they will look at you. I ran in to that time and time again. I lost out on three jobs even though I had a home here already, and could literally report for work with two weeks notice to my current employer. Each one of them told me that they hired a local candidate instead--and in all three cases they would ahve hired me if only I had lived here. All three also encouraged me to stay in touch and let them know when I got here full time, one actually called me about a month ago to touch base and tell me about an opening they had.
For a lot of reasons, including a HATRED (dripping with venom) of my previous job, I finally bit the bullet, quit my job and came here with fingers crossed. Three weeks after I got here I was doing temp work. Five weeks later I was working f/t. I had vacation time coming to me that helped with the gap, and we can live very carefully on DH's income, and his job wasn't changing.
I'm so glad that I made the leap, because it also opened a bunch of doors for me with my true passion, concert photography, and I've been able to make the jump to pro since I got here--I recently sold a photo to a record label, and am negotiating several others.
