Tomorrow morning, I leave for the DECA state conference. If I do well there, I move on to Internationals which is being held in Orlando!!! There will be a DECA day at serveral attractions, including Universal (I would not go to that one as prom is the day before so I would be flying down on Universal day), Sea World, and Disney!!! So wish me luck and maybe I will see some of you in Disney in April!

Good Luck!!! My sister was in DECA and made it to Nationals twice and the first time was in Orlando. She got an award at her second trip for her merit awards. She had a blast! Though when she went they were only allowed to go to one park and all the kids from that school (I think that was it) had to select one of the four parks. Her group picked Animal Kingdom since that was the newest park.

She actually got something in the mail last week about being a judge at the MI state conference. I'm trying to convince her to do it, but I'm not sure the dates of it work with her schedule. I keep telling her it would be a great experience for her.

Best of luck!!! I hope you make it to Nationals

Where are you going for State? My SIL is a DECA sponsor in Illinois.

I am in Pennsylvania and we're going to Hershey for the competition. Still have to finish packing. Yikes! I better be off to do that! LOL.

I got back last night and just wanted to update yall on how I did. We won a medal for our test scores (I got an 80 out of 100, which I'm fairly happy with). Our role play wasn't as great as we thought it was, but it wasn't terrible. Unfortunately, we did not win overall and therefore are not going to Florida. The whole time we were there was fairly boring. We were trapped in the hotel from about 2 PM Wednesday to noon yesterday except for the one hour that we went to the shopping outlets on Thursday. There were a couple things that happened that made it eventful, but horrible at the same time. We were just lucky that our whole school didn't get disqualified to be honest with you.

My son went to the state Colorado DECA conference last week. He didn't qualify for the nationals either. Also there were some behavior issues that happened there too.

I'm glad you had a good time too.

Your post brought back memories. I was in DECA and went to Hershey to compete. I did qualify for Nationals (New Orleans that year) but did not go.

When we were in Hershey, we were at the hotel the whole time. We didn't get to go to the outlets at all. We had fun, but I remember sitting around and wishing that we could go explore the area. We rode a bus there from Pittsbugh, and it was a long bus ride. The competition itself was fun!

Wasn't in DECA (I was in VICA which is similar). But I went to competition regional, state and nationals 2 years in a row and it was the best memories of my life from school! Ahhh red polyester blazers and nude stockings as far as the eye could see...

Congrats on your excellent performance!

WOW! This brings back so many memories...

Tennessee DECA here. I have all my old ICDC shirts in my dresser that I still wear years later. I competed on the national level 2 years in a row...

Utah and Orlando (I didnt go to Nashville because I had WAY too much on my plate getting ready for college and everything senior year!). What great memories!! :woohoo:

GL to you next year!! DECA is a lot of fun and Internationals are seriously like being on top of the world. The dances, the community, the fun... its amazing!! You feel really proud. Work your butt of next year because its worth it just to compete at that level!

I put a lot of sweat and tears into that organization-- and stayed up many late ours with my team rehearsing and simply doing research.

GL to you next year!:thumbsup2

My sons deca competion is coming up on the 15th in Boston. I am hoping he makes it to Orlando in April as he could really use the boost right now.

I'm in Pittsburgh too! The bus ride there wasn't bad, but the bus ride home was one long, miserable, 5 hours. Most of the groups there were from Philly, so they didn't have too far to go. Everyone was complaining that they traveled so far, a whole 2 hours. And when they found out we traveled 4-5 hourse, they were all like :scared1: . LOL. That is so cool how many people on here are/were involved in DECA. It can be fun at times, this week just wasn't the greatest.

hegs65: Good luck to your son! What is his event? I would love to know how he does! I really hope he makes it to ICDC.
