I just got back from Disney on June 22nd. I bought a package through my travel agent and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.
The room was good right around the corner from the elevator but didn't hear any loud noises.
The crowds were O.K. but people get very cranky in the 92 degree weather! Some of the staff at Riverside were just down right RUDE I never thought that someday I would see this from Disney employees! I have never had a problem with OKW or BWV
It is always a very pleasant experience.
If you go down now be careful of these little tiny flies they bite bad! It's a cross between A horsefly and a mosquitoe bite. My family got bitten multiple times.
I am traveling to OKW in October for Halloween that's why we decided to do the package. I will definitely think about staying there again.
Oh yeah if anyone stays at Riverside in Parterre Place Watch out for the killer mockingbird in the front near the fountain I saw multiple people getting chased and pecked at. The hotel said there was nothing they could do about the bird.
My daughter was petrified to walk up the walk so we had to walk all the way around .
Thank for letting me vent, Hope everyone has safe trips.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy the trip.

I have never stayed at POR so I can't comment on it.

But the birds, that is another story.

I cannot understand why Disney let these birds be all over the place. We were "attacked" at Peco Bill when eating outside by the tables, and by Plaza Pavilion by Future World. They went after food so aggressively that it was very scary for my little ones or even for the adults.

Was it just us

Yes...I know the flies youa are talking about. We were at OKW the beginning of May (for our last night - stayed at BCV the rest of the time). When I came home from our stay, I had bites all over my feet and ankles. The bites lasted for over a week and were horrible! At one point, I almost went to a doctor to get something to put on them, since everything I tried made them itch more. They seem to be around the LBV area - not so much the rest of Disney World.

Sorry to hear your stay wasn't the best - next time will be better!

Other than kill the birds, there really isn't anything Disney can do - and that still won't solve the problem, other birds will come. These are birds that have learned that people will either feed them directly or drop crumbs and they get feed that way. At pool at HH, the grackles were bold and while they wouldn't take the food out of your hand, they would come right up to you to get the crumbs or sit and wait for you to drop something. At Tide me over, the service counter window at the resort, Disney strung wires to keep the birds from molesting everyone. Noticed this with the blue jays and cardinals too while sitting on the balcony. The canadian geese are so agressive at our zoo here that you cannot eat at any of the outside vendors. They will literally attack you to get your food. This is a problem anywhere where there is large amounts of people eating outside - not just WDW.

Sorry your trip was a disappointment. I know I was disappointed in CSR after staying DVC. It just wasn't the same. There wasn't anything wrong exactly, it just wasn't what we have been accustomed to with DVC.

Have fun at OKW in Oct!

We didn't like Dixie (POR) when we stayed there on our honeymoon it was beautiful but way to quiet for our tastes. We absoluteley loved Coronado Springs even better than VWL I don't think I will stay at VWL again didn't really care for it again it was beautiful but way to quiet. I am afraid with our stay this Dec at OKW I will not care for that one either we however loved BWV and all the excitement there. Our all time favourite resorts are the All Star resorts lots of noise and lots of people and kids all having a great time playing and laughing it is the best when I am involved in that type of atmosphere with my family that is the stuff we love. Hope you next trip is alot better for you and as for the birds we have found that if they get that glose a rolled up magazine helps to curb the agressiveness kinda like with a puppy.

We used to live in Florida and had a problem with a mockingbird attacking us as we entered and left our apartment. I called animal control, and they couldn't even move the bird because it's a protected species. She was protecting her nesting little ones. When they leave the nest, the mother birds become far less aggressive. Seagulls on the other hand...
