WISH Challenge Delight in December Chat Thread!

Just stopping by quickly ... I can't really type much (I cut my finger a little and have a band-aid on, which makes it hard to type).

I just wanted to share some nice news:
Official weigh-in today ... down 1.5 lbs from December 1st. Yay! I hope this is the beginning of a trend of moving in the right direction.

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Slowly is down. It can be annoying but nice when we finally see it going in the right direction.

More walking today .8 mile in 20 minutes. DD wanted to stop. Tomorrow we might walk at the park in morning then bowling in evening after a company Christmas party for my friend's family and they invite us to go.

:cool1: Walked our booties off today. 1 1/2 miles in one stretch at the park. Then rested a bit while my brother fished. DD and I had to go visit the little girls room so we walked over a half round trip back to the bathroom at the park. And then we did another walk near a mile in the neighborhood after dinner. We will see if we are ready for more walking tomorrow. It's a little drive to the park but was a nice day once the rain let up so we made an afternoon of it since the rain stopped long enough.

DD throwing the leaves. We don't have too many trees in the area that make these beautiful fall colors. At least not in my daily life.

Beautiful pictures!! What a gorgeous place to walk!!

WOOHOO on being down so much in just 6 days!! Let's hope we all are "trending downward" until the end of the year! Hope your boo-boo heals quickly!!

You are doing so well with your activity! I hope you are proud of yourself!! Keep it up!!

Morning all! (Well, at least it is morning for a few more minutes :lmao:). I've been super lazy this morning, but got a lot of online shopping done, so it wasn't a total waste of time! Plus it is icy and snowy out there, so I wasn't going to be going anywhere anyhow.

Had a late breakfast of oatmeal made with chopped apple and almond milk (similar to my overnight oats, but made on the stove). MMMM, mmmm good!!

Today's plan is some housework and laundry, meal planning for next week, and perhaps some Christmas wrapping and decorating!

Off to post some inspiration for you all and then make lunch!..............P

Not sure if I've used this one before, but I really like it so it bears repeating!

Well.... I'm back! Where is everyone?

Anyhooo..... had a good busy active day. We had a birch in the front yard that broke during the T.giving storm. DS helped me cut it down and then I cut it into lengths that I could lift. Next up I"m going to cut it into shorter lengths, drill out cavities with a spade bit, and put in some candles and voila.... rustic Christmas decor for my dining room table! I'll try to remember to share a picture when it is done! I've wanted to do this for years, but didn't want to sacrifice a white birch.... but now that Mother Nature did the sacrificing for me, I'm all about it. Just wish it weren't freezing rain outside right now! Brrrrrr!

Anyhow..... like this....

That looks wonderful Pam.

I did a little Christmas shopping but it is raining here and really messy so I really didn't feel like going from store to store. I also got a late start and the stores were busy and I don't handle busy too well.

I just have to print out the Christmas letter and do the cards. I think I can do those tomorrow. I still have one show tonight and then one tomorrow afternoon. Then we have to gather the costumes we rented and give them to the director who is bringing them back. After that I am going out with some friends that we haven't seen in a while.

Off to get dinner ready and get ready to go to the theater.

Have a happy and healthy evening.

I really hope we can all "trend downward" until the end of the year - it's a hard time to be moving in the right direction, but an amazing feeling when you can do it!

I've always believed that morning is relative ... morning for me ends at about 2PM (probably because I don't get up until after 8 some days...)

Sounds like a busy day ... but all things that need to get done!

I'm with you on the busy stores ... it's why I avoid Black Friday. I prefer to go shopping when things are a little quieter.

How have the shows been going so far? It must be a weird feeling to know that the show you put so much work into is going to be over soon ... but I hope you had a lot of fun working on the costumes!

As for me ... it's been a pretty dull few days. It's raining today (and was last night too), which puts me in a weird mood. I haven't been eating as well as I should and I know I should get some exercise in (I did a little walking earlier, but not much), but I want to watch a little TV first. I'm setting an alarm for 8 PM, so hopefully I'll get up from in front of the TV then and actually do some exercise. I'm thinking about having a fruit smoothie after that ... depends on whether my mom eats the last banana (although I suppose I could make a smoothie without a banana too).

I'm off to watch TV. I hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Hello all!

Just stopping by quickly to say hi! I'm doing my meal planning for the week (hoping to get at least 50% of my meals planned in advance, which is a big deal for me), so of course I needed a distraction, so I decided to stop by here.

I was going to have a smoothie for breakfast today, but I didn't feel like taking out the blender, so I'll do it tomorrow. I may even make enough for 2 smoothies so that I can have another one later in the week.

I didn't end up getting in any exercise yesterday (I just wasn't feeling up to it), but the good news is that I'm all caught up on my TV shows, so until I fall behind again (which will happen tomorrow the latest, because I watch 4 shows on Monday nights and I'm not home for any of them), I've got plenty of time for exercise and meal planning. If only I didn't get distracted by every shiny thing I see...

Love those centerpieces Pamela!!
I haven't even started decorating yet. DS18 is up to his eyeballs in finals, DS14 just wrapped up a play and started indoor track, the other 2 are dealing with school stuff, DH just wrapped up a contract in NY and we lost a parent at school the week of thanksgiving. That last one really made it hard to get into the thanksgiving mood. Her kids are doing pretty well but her husband is just lost so we are trying to help him as much as possible.
Needless to say the food front on my part has not been good. Neither has me exercise. I'm so far behind on my training for the 1/2, it's not funny.
Hopefully things will start to settle into a new routine soon.

Hey all! How's it going? So excited to stop in and see so much chatter this weekend!!:cool1:

I did get a start on making those birch log decorations, but suffered a small "decorating injury" when a log flew out away from the saw blade and nearly took my finger with it. It is stiff and sore with a large purple spot developing under the nail.... But I will survive. And I at least got a bit of decor done on the front porch. I'll try here to copy a picture from Facebook. Not sure if it will work.

10850729_862115513840794_976043068_n.jpg

WOOHOO the picture worked! Anyhow, that decor was FREE!! My favorite price! The logs and greens and pinecones came from my land (a few years ago I collected them and painted them a bit white) and I already owned the bucket and the bow~! I may add a small string of white lights in it when I get the rest of the Christmas stuff out, but I'm okay with the way it is.

Anyhow, the other logs are cut to length and such.... but now I need to find the spade bit for the drill press so I can drill out the cavities for the candles.

So I stayed busy by dragging those logs around, scraping some ice from the driveway, and some general cooking and cleaning. I have a batch of homemade vegetable stock simmering on the stove and it has the whole house feeling warm and steamy. Not a bad thing today!! Plus I caramelized some onions earlier today for marinated steak sandwiches for dinner, so the house smells yummy.

I'm off for now.... gotta dash. But I'll BBL to catch up on the chatter!!..........P

Good Monday morning everyone.

It is cold and cloudy here in jersey and they are predicting more rain for the next couple of days. We had a lot of rain on Sat and we don't need any more this week. I am just glad that it is not snow.

The last show went off yesterday and we settled the costumes in less than a half an hour. There were not a lot of costumes. There were 8 in the cast and most only wore one or two so it was pretty easy.

I finished my Christmas letter that I send out with my Christmas card. Tonight I will start printing that and start writing out cards. I should have that done by tomorrow night.

I still have some shopping to do but dh is off on Friday so I may just make him a list and let him go to town. I think I have one more present to get dh and then some stocking stuffers and I am done with him.

Off to get some papers graded . Some kids are coming in to make up tests.

Have a happy and healthy day

We've got pretty much the same weather up here (NYC) ... I'm getting sick of all this rain!

The last show went off yesterday and we settled the costumes in less than a half an hour. There were not a lot of costumes. There were 8 in the cast and most only wore one or two so it was pretty easy.

I'm glad to hear everything was easy to take care of.

Have a happy and healthy day

Kind of a slow day today. I overslept a bit, but still got out for my walk/run and I survived it despite the cold. Then I had to get my act together fast because we're getting our hot water heater replaced (it's past time), and the plumber came over to look at it, so I had to be fully dressed (my dad called while I was in the shower - I got out of the shower to take the call). I'm still very tired, so it's a little hard for me to get things done. Which is why I'm on here and not doing things off my to-do list.

Anyway ... I should go work on my to-do list. Have a great day, everyone!

Hey all! Sorry I didn't get online this morning, but I woke up YET AGAIN without power. Of course, it was only out long enough to make the morning a big PITA. Then DH and I drove into town to pick up my car (it was in the shop) and on the way back I stopped for some grocery shopping and Christmas shopping. Needless to say the day has gotten away from me!!

Off to get DS at school! I'll try to pop on again tonight!...............P

2 hour delay this morning. It was nice sleeping in even though I should have gotten up and done something.
I'm still not sleeping well, which is becoming a real problem.
I think I need a carb fast and work out consistently. I think to much of one thing and not enough of the other is making for a very grumpy mommy.

Sarah, thanks for the reminder today. For some reason I really need it. I have so much to do and have done very little the last few days. I know I didn't sleep well last night because dh went into the other room to sleep since I was snoring. I have a ton of paperwork to do for school but I just don't feel like doing it. I need to get going.

How did the everyone in the northeast fare with the storm. We had some water in the basement but it stopped sooner than we thought it was going to so dh was able to take care of it. We still have some towels to wash but it is not too bad.

Off to get some paperwork done.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Hey.... at least you are still thinking about it and working on it! Sorry you've been grumpy. Hoping the rest of the week is better!

A nice reminder for days when things get hard:

AMEN!! We ALL need to do that!!

Glad you weathered the storm well. We have a small puddle in the basement, but I put the dehumidifier near it and hopefully that will be enough. We MUST get the gutters fixed in the spring though. We had no school yesterday and I cancelled my WW meeting last night. Even though it was not snow, the temps hovered right at freezing all day!

**********************

Hey all!! Sorry to be away so long! I've just been keeping super busy here at home! Trying to get SO MUCH DONE before DD comes home next week so that we can enjoy our time together rather than me spending the time stressing about cleaning before the holiday!!

I was expecting to work today and was surprised that I didn't get called (although I got called yesterday BEFORE they cancelled school :confused3). So I made up my mind to try to earn the same amount of $$ I would have made at school. So I spent some time this morning bumping up a bunch of my FB yardsale posts, relisted a few items, listed a few new items on the Disney Garage sale page. Plus later today I will be making some homemade gifts for the family (some quick stuff, not quilts and such!!). Plus I can definitely put in an hour or two of WW billable work. And I'll send in a few rebates I've been procrastinating on and perhaps do a few online surveys and hopefully I can come near the income I would have made at school today!

Eating has been JUST FINE lately..... made a lovely batch of mushroom and kale soup for lunch yesterday and packed up two servings to save for school lunches. I now have a GREAT stockpile of mason jars of soup in the freezer to grab for lunch on work days! I have 11 separate containers of soup (about 4 different varieties) ready to grab! Curried carrot, mulligatawny, mushroom kale, split pea.... and I think one more. It wasn't exactly a "plan" but it has just worked out this way!

Exercise.... well, for today it was and will be shoveling/scraping ice from the driveway.... not much fun, but good exercise and it needs to be done!

Well, I've been trying to post here for a while and keep getting interrupted, so I need to say good-bye for now! TTYL.....................P

Walked at the park again yesterday afternoon. Got in another mile and a half of walking. DD kinda slowed the pace because she was following slowly behind taking pictures. She should be the fittest of us all and she was tired but in her defense she had flip flops on. Not sure why. I need to get her some running shoes. May get her signed up and paid for track and field in Jan. She want's to build to running as will I eventually but not sure about running/jogging until I drop some more weight down. We may work towards the 3 mile distance at the park by going farther down the park and back. :thumbsup2

Will see if it makes a difference on scale on Friday. I think last weeks being quite up 7 or 8 lbs from my last Oct weigh in was partly thanks to TOM and water retention but we shall see. I have to get the eating part on track too. It's been kinda off since Thanksgiving. Or off and on rotating. lol

I'm looking for work more hardcore so need prayers(or thoughts if that isn't your thing) something comes along soon. DD is likely going back to brick and mortar school in Jan. I will miss parts of it and other parts be relieved some stress. She's actually wanting to in some ways because while the curriculum is nice we both do not like the testing. Plus even for me if I follow the lessons I find sometimes they don't prepare for the test they have in the online systems. argh. I'd love homeschooling more if it was my own or a purchase curriculum I think.

Another power outage? Yikes! I’m glad the power wasn’t out too long, though.

I love sleeping in when my morning is delayed. And sleeping well is really important, both for health and life in general – something I know from personal experience (I’ve had bouts of insomnia much of my life).

When things aren’t working, it’s definitely a good idea to make a change! Working out consistently is hard, but definitely pays off. And if you think carb fasting will help you, it’s definitely worth a try.

We did okay with the storm … we rarely flood, so everything was fine, just a few extra puddles in front of the house. We do have some snow on the grass now – but none on the sidewalks, so no shoveling necessary.
Hey.... at least you are still thinking about it and working on it! Sorry you've been grumpy. Hoping the rest of the week is better!

Good call trying to get things done now – holidays can be stressful, especially with extra people home, so it’s good to get some of the “stress” out of the way now.

I was expecting to work today and was surprised that I didn't get called (although I got called yesterday BEFORE they cancelled school :confused3). So I made up my mind to try to earn the same amount of $$ I would have made at school. Good plan! Always nice to make some extra money when you can.

Soups sound great … one of the things I love about winter is that it’s always soup weather, and there are so many great soup recipes out there!
Shoveling sounds like a lot of fun to me … but I’m weird (I actually really do love shoveling, I don’t know why). Like you said, it needs to be done, and it definitely is good exercise!

A mile and a half of walking is good, even at a slower pace! But I agree – she should have running (or walking) shoes for that – you really can’t walk that far in flip flops.

Will see if it makes a difference on scale on Friday. I think last weeks being quite up 7 or 8 lbs from my last Oct weigh in was partly thanks to TOM and water retention but we shall see. I have to get the eating part on track too. It's been kinda off since Thanksgiving. Or off and on rotating. lol

I have the same off and on rotating problem (although mine started before Thanksgiving … oops). Hopefully the scale will have something nice to say on Friday!

I’ll definitely have you in my thoughts/prayers! I can understand how the testing can be frustrating if it doesn’t match the curriculum … at least in a traditional school the person making up the tests is the one teaching the material, so it really should line up. I hope you both do okay with the adjustment!

As for me … nothing much. My eating hasn’t been great the past few days, but it hasn’t been terrible either. I’ve been okay with exercise, but not great. It’s been a mediocre kind of week. I feel like I'm not losing, but I don't know if I'm gaining. We'll see what the scale says on Friday.

Great job continuing the habit of long walks!!

Will see if it makes a difference on scale on Friday. I think last weeks being quite up 7 or 8 lbs from my last Oct weigh in was partly thanks to TOM and water retention but we shall see. I have to get the eating part on track too. It's been kinda off since Thanksgiving. Or off and on rotating. lol

It is so hard to get back on track after time "off plan"... but you can do it! You still have TWO WEEKS to make progress before Christmas!!

Good luck with the job hunt and to your DD with her return to "real" school!;)

Another power outage? Yikes! I’m glad the power wasn’t out too long, though.

Yup.... I'm done with that baloney for now!! And it isn't even "winter" yet!!

Dropping carbs can make a HUGE impact on your weight loss.... but be warned, it is a hard diet to keep up!

We did okay with the storm … we rarely flood, so everything was fine, just a few extra puddles in front of the house. We do have some snow on the grass now – but none on the sidewalks, so no shoveling necessary.

Wish I enjoyed it more, as there is always plenty of it to be done! I can feel yesterday's shoveling in my left shoulder blade area... :(

I'm having a similar mediocre week.... but that being said, I'm staying busy. Just too many carbs and too many evening snacks (even if they are within my PP range for the day, I am eating them too late!).

Hey all! Here at work today. She called me rather late, so it was a scramble to get myself showered and dressed and get 2 breakfasts made and 2 lunches packed! But we made it.

I am supposed to meet two folks to sell things through a FB yard sale, but they are both being wishy-washy, so I'm not sure if the meetings are going to happen. I hope they do because the extra money would be good.

Gotta dash!! I need to get my kids from the library and get them out the door to go home! Head is pounding and I can't wait to get home, take an Advil, and chill for a bit before heading out to the robotics meeting.......P
