WISH Away The Pounds ~ Achieving in April ~ All are WELCOME!

Thanks so much for coaching this week, Helen! :flower3: Great questions and some thoughtful responses. :goodvibes

A big WATP thank you to our hostess this month, Amanda! :thanks:

Please be sure and PM her your weigh in numbers tomorrow.

I am Lisa and I will be your coach for this week. :wave2: I am a veteran of many of these challenges since I found the WISH boards in 2009. My weight loss seems to move at a glacial pace at times but each year I end the year weighing less than what I started. I've also done things that I never dreamed of doing and made lifelong friends. I can honestly say WISH has made me so much happier and healthier. :goodvibes

I am in the Pacific time zone so I am going to post the QOTD for tomorrow and be back tomorrow for replies so you east coast folks, and beyond, aren't waiting on me.

I am a big fan of sparkpeople.com Although I am on WW now the content and emails from sparkpeople are wonderful. This was something that appeared in my inbox this week and is the inspiration for the theme that you will find in the questions this week.

We all have reasons not to exercise even though we know we should. But what about a list of reasons to exercise -- do you have one of those? Well, you do now!

100 Reasons to Exercise Now

Because it makes you feel confident
Because it prevents diabetes - trying to get off my once a week shot by being more healthy
Because you want to feel good in your clothes
Because it reduces back pain - losing weight has help this greatly
Because it helps you lose weight - Oh yea
Because you want to stay healthy as you age
Because you want to live longer
Because you want to see the scale drop
Because exercise improves your sex life - hope so :)
Because you are worth it
Because you deserve a better life
Because you want to do real push-ups
Because it makes clothing shopping more fun
Because it'll give your skin a glow - I have seen this just from changing my diet.. used to have the most awful eczema and it's almost completely gone after 9 weeks of Atkins..
Because you don't want to squeeze into an airplane or rollercoaster seat - I want to walk Disney without feeling winded or tired! and NO squeezing in!
Because it strengthens your spirit
Because you're tired of being tired -- VERY TRUE
Because it boosts your metabolism

QOTD Friday, April 12, 2013: What is your reason to exercise today? It can be from the list or share you own. Bonus points if you share your favorite exercise excuse and a way to bust it.

Have a great day all! :flower3:

Thanks Lisa for the above - I've saved just the ones for me.. I have diabetes and am trying to kick it with diet and exercise altho I don't exercise that much.. been trying to get a little more walking in now that weather is nicer and I signed back up for once a week Zumba.. I could do more and when I do I feel like alot those mentioned above.. I am very good at brushing it off - been doing it for years so I don't really have a way to bust it..

Happy Friday friends! Anyone else glad that the week is nearly over??

I'm at work today, but came in early so I have a few minutes to pop in here to say hello. I may also have time when the kids go to recess and then later in the day when they have Special, so I should be able to catch up easily!

Confession time.... As I mentioned I've been hovering a few pounds over my maintenance range lately. I've had trouble getting my weekends under control and figured that was the problem. So last weekend, despite lots of easy excuses to not eat right, I stayed OP, made good choices, and did not have any big splurges. I ate well during the week, measured my portions, journaled all my foods, etc. And I was looking for GOOD THINGS on the scale this morning. And you know what.... I lost exactly .1 !! And I can see that the frustration, anger, and disappointment is ready to cloud my entire day. I feel HUGE (although I know that is more about my head than my belly). I feel ANGRY. And I feel SCARED that somehow, despite having lost nearly 90 pounds and keeping it off for 4+ years, I can't do it any more. I know that is CRAZY and that I KNOW what to do and how to do it and I just need to be a bit more patient and maybe make a few more changes (like increasing my exercise routine).

Why am I confessing all of this?? Because I know that many of you struggle with losing and maintaining and I want you to know that it isn't just YOU! Even us "success stories" have days/weeks when we feel like we just can't do it any more! But you know what I will do? I will stay the course. I will stay on plan. I will stay "in the wagon" with you all. I will continue to make smart, healthy food choices. I will continue to get regular exercise (although admittedly I need MORE of this). I will NOT let this 3 lb +/- of "extra" weight get me down! But most of all I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!

Off to finish my coffee and read here a bit before the craziness of a Friday in 1st grade overtakes me!..............P

Weighed in...I was 188 last September before our cruise, took 5 months off, yep, put a bit back on...likely weighed over 205 at the start of April...so today's weight was 202.8...hitting Onederland NEXT WEEK! Shooting for 189 by the end of April!!!

Hi Friends usually just a lurker but wanted to say HUGs and stick to it to those who need a bit of help right now..

I am hoping to have a great finish to the week.. up to now I've lost 2.3 but want to lose a pound more by Monday which is my offical weight in for Atkins and it would put me into the 150's (159 to be exact but hey I in them!) so my plan is make sure to eat all my carbs, drink all my water and do a little excersize (like raking)

hope everyone has a fab day.. :wave2:

WOOHOO for the 150's!! You will do it!

QOTD Thursday 11th April 2013

We all need little treats from time to time, whether it be something that is calorie laden, or something that upsets us medically (GF for example).......how often do you allow yourself such a treat? And do you feel it was worth the hassle and guilt afterwards??

I am SO fortunate I don't have any medical dietary restrictions (such as food allergies or CD). My guilt-inducing treats are just due to WEIGHT issues. I don't go too crazy very often and if I lose control TOO much when having a treat day/meal, I do end up with TONS of morning-after guilt. But if I can CONTROL a splurge/treat (such as just 2 slices of take-out pizza or one serving of real ice cream), then I DON'T generally feel too guilty. As long as I was able to work it into my calorie allotment and I didn't eat it in place of HEALTHIER foods, then I am generally okay with it.

I can tell when I've been feeling really deprived because I end up with day dreams about eating an entire large bag of peanut butter M&Ms and things like that!! :lmao: That is when I realize maybe it is time to loosen the reins a bit and plan a small splurge.

On my diet, I get 5 to 15 syns a day to spend as I like, but they don't go far. For example 1 tbsp of light mayo is 2 syns; a Snickers bar is 15 syns. I tend to do without during the week, and have a treat at the weekend. As long as I stay within my weekly syns, I refuse to feel guilty! We also have a bit of a blow out once a month around payday...sadly this is usually a pizza from Dominoes or a meal from Burger King. I love junk food, but at least I know how to control it now! This method keeps me on track and it's obviously working as I'm now 32lb lighter than I was on 7th January.

Look forward to hearing from you all.

MAJOR WOOHOO on 32 pounds!!:cool1:

Aaah good question... I am on Atkins so bread, rice, pasta, and sugars are a no no for me... I've been trying to find likeable substitutes (like pizza made on cauliflower crust or low carb bread/wraps and dreamfields pasta) but sometimes nothing beats what you really want.. I’ve not really caved and had too much that I’m not supposed to but I also haven’t put myself out there too far.. I have a bite of Hubs pasta or a cracker maybe a chip but to me right now it’s not worth it.. I do give myself a piece of sugar free chocolate every day – it taste like the real thing so I feel like I am getting away with something !

My DH is doing Atkins (for the 2nd time) for over 2 years now. I have created and found some great treat recipes if you are interested. I don't post them here because most folks are watching calories or doing SB and these treats are pretty high calorie, but they are low carb and fairly healthy. Let me know if you would like a few new recipes to try!

Thanks. :) But just to clarify, I was at goal--and gained a bunch back. Ok, being completely honest--16 pounds. And the running is great, but I have been dealing with chronic injuries. Yes, in the big scheme of things it is all still pretty awesome, but I have back slid quite a bit from where I was, and I was very frustrated with myself. And angry. But that is what I needed to be, and now I am feeling much more on track. :) I don't think 16 pounds is a reasonable goal, since obviously I did not do such a great job maintaining it, but I would be thrilled to split the difference.

I think that you and I are sitting in a similar spot right now. We need to support each other as we struggle to get back to our maintenance weight!

*********KIDS ARE HERE! BBL to finish this!

ETA: I'm back!!

QOTD--I build treats into my days, or I would go crazy. When I am on plan I have a tiny bit of ice cream almost every day and that is just about it.:goodvibes Sometimes I have a g-f beer instead of the ice cream. The issue is when I have the beer AND the ice cream....and the seconds on the ice cream, etc. Hence the 16 pound gain.:thumbsup2

I know the feeling~.:rolleyes2

The frozen snickers were calling me at work today. It was like a siren's call..But I resisted! One of my coworkers hid some in the freezer for candy emergencies. I went to the gym and ran for 31 min (run 2 walk 1) and only drank water. So pretty on plan for today.

Hope everyone has a great night. :)

Great job on the exercise! Wish I could be so motivated and dedicated.

Thanks so much for coaching this week, Helen! :flower3: Great questions and some thoughtful responses. :goodvibes

I agree and say thank you as well!

A big WATP thank you to our hostess this month, Amanda! :thanks:

I second that!

Please be sure and PM her your weigh in numbers tomorrow.

100 Reasons to Exercise Now

Here is the link to the list in case you want to save it. http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=100_reasons_you_should_work_out_today

QOTD Friday, April 12, 2013: What is your reason to exercise today? It can be from the list or share you own. Bonus points if you share your favorite exercise excuse and a way to bust it.

Have a great day all! :flower3:

Amazing list!! My reasons are because I want to keep my weight under control and because I want to feel my BEST as I age.

I learned my favorite EXERCISE EXCUSE BUSTER from my friend ROSE!! My best buster is to START! If I want to quit after 15 minutes, then I give myself permission to do so.... but often if I start like that I end up EXCEEDING my normal exercise minutes!! I usually end up SO PROUD of myself for at least starting, that I am inspired to excel!!

By the way, thanks for the list, I've been wondering why I've even been doing everything I do....

Was a little sore today so was going to swim, did some reading on lifting weights and really think I ought to start doing 1/2 of my weights each day--different muscle groups because that is what is really emphasized so your body can heal and build muscle. Decided at some point it would be faster and less hassle to go for a bike ride. Couldn't figure out where I wanted to go and then thought of hiking. So I did it but didn't really enjoy it because all I could think of was my bike hooked up to the bars at the onset of the path lol. Next time I'll hook it up at the playground. Our town is prolific for bike theft. There's some lock company that guarantees their locks except for NY, a few others and us.

Fed Sunny 5 times today lol. She's definitely getting the hang of things. Some extra Pixie dust for her please--I think she's past the worse but still needs your good thoughts.
]

Oh my GOSH! Thanks for sharing those pictures. Sunny is definitely smaller than her siblings, but looks great! But that grey tiger/tabby.... OMGOSH!! ABSOLUTELY in LOVE! Other than one all black kitty we found about 10 years ago, I have had exclusively tiger/tabbies over the past 20 years.... they seem to find me!

*****************

Okay friends! Here I am, but with no time to spare, as my recess coverage did NOT show up. I have just a minute to spare before I have to do lunch duty. I'll try to pop on again at Special time!..............P

Hang in there, Pamela. I get it. :goodvibes I was furious with myself this week. If I don't get it under control I am buying clothes this summer--and not cause I want to. But it is doable and we can do it. :)

Are you calling yourself at maintain? I know you have struggled with this decision.

Weighed in...I was 188 last September before our cruise, took 5 months off, yep, put a bit back on...likely weighed over 205 at the start of April...so today's weight was 202.8...hitting Onederland NEXT WEEK! Shooting for 189 by the end of April!!!
Hoping you see onderland next week! :)

Thank you to our wonderful coaches. :)

QOTD--I will exercise today because I always feel great afterwards and proud of myself. Favorite excuse--I am tired. I inadvertently busted any excuses I have by making my mile a day commitment for the year. But I have been kind of slacking a bit (some days barely getting the mile in), so I have recommitted here to at least 30 min a day for the rest of the month.

Saw this on fb today and loved it:

Life has no remote. Get up and change it yourself.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday. :)

Oh lord! It must be the season, the month, the weather, who knows what but I have been struggling since Easter. I haven't lost a single pound, some BAD snacks have been creeping back into my daily diet and I have been skipping some exercise days!
Some emotional issues at home ( come to find out DH is really NOT supportive of this lifestyle change, he was hoping it was just a fad) so I've been battling with his attitude as well.
Starting tomorrow I need to get back on track! Ultimately I know what I'm doing is good for me and the kids. Recommitting to eating good and exercising. I'm going to block out any negative chatter and get my happy attitude back!

Good luck and hugs to all those that are having a rough go of it :)

I'm having a rough week too - it started out so well but this week was bad :(

Oh my here are bunches and bunches for HUGS for all my Wish friends...

Pamela I would love some recipes.. if you don't want to clog up the boards I can PM you my email and you can send them directly but if other are curious and don't mind post them here :) (ps I don't have a home computer so I won't be back on till Monday)

hope everyone has a good weekend.. we have low key plans .. DS has LAX practice tonight altho we are getting winter mix storm and tomorrow at 10am then his dad is taking him driving for a few hours - he can send in when he gets all his hours of driving in! I have a scrapbooking crop I'm going to tomorrow night 4-11 pm with a great group of ladies.. and well the Hubs off to fend for himself. HAA .. sunday will be grocery shopping and meal planning day!

See you all Monday

Hello and Happy Friday! I have had a rough time since Easter as well and got on the scale this morning all resigned to having to report a gain only to find a loss. WTH?? But I'll take it :rotfl2: I have quit my Diet Dr. Pepper....I haven't had one since I think Tuesday now. I don't like it - LOL - but I know it's better for me. And I halfway wonder if I can contribute that unexpected loss to it. I think I am going to either figure out if I can get my bike in shape to be ridden or buy a new one this weekend along with a child seat for our little one because I really enjoy bicycling. My YDD loves her tricycle and just gets after it, but to go with us will need to be in a seat on my bike. We have a great trail system that I would like to utilize but my bike has been left out in the weather and needs some work. Hopefully I can figure that out this weekend! Oh....and I FINISHED my fence this past Monday evening.....wooohooooo!!! I was SO excited about that. Of course that just means I can start on the back one now :rotfl2: Hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!

YES WE CAN!!!!!!

Are you calling yourself at maintain? I know you have struggled with this decision.

Well... I never had that one day/moment when I declared I hit goal. But after continued struggles to get lower than 130 and stay there, I decided that I must be happy/content to live life at about 133-135. I consider my mainteinance range to be anything under 135 (and I prefer to be 133 or under).... but have been struggling in the 137-138 numbers lately and there really isn't a good reason for it! That is what is so frustrating. I haven't totally given up the ship or fallen off the wagon, so I am struggling to make more changes to get myself back into my maintenance range. And it is DOUBLY scary because I need to start weighing in for my new job this month and I am a few pounds over my stated "goal" weight!! Not really starting out on the right foot if I need to get a warning about my weight at my first weigh-in!!:crazy2:

Can I commit with you?? I need some accountability to get in at least 30 minutes a day/5 days a week!!

Great quote!

First of all..... for your troubles and struggles. And second.... sorry that DH is being unsupportive. But is he really being NEGATIVE or just lacking in support? My DH was okay with my weight loss.... I'm sure he appreciated having his wife looking better. And he never really did anything actively NEGATIVE to hinder my weight loss efforts.... but he wasn't a big SUPPORT SYSTEM either. He did NOT try to change his eating habits or try to reduce the junk food he expected me to buy and he didn't offer to help with ANYTHING to allow me the extra time needed to exercise. It wasn't until HE was trying to lose weight that anything really changed in that regard. But I wasn't doing it for HIM. I was doing it for me and I just had to think of it as one more hurdle to get over. I knew that using his lack of support as an excuse was just that.... an EXCUSE. And I was determined to LEAD BY EXAMPLE with my healthy eating.

You can do this. If you are having trouble doing it for you, imagine the GOOD EXAMPLE you are leading for your CHILDREN!!:thumbsup2

Oh my here are bunches and bunches for HUGS for all my Wish friends...

First of all... CONGRATS on the loss!

Second.... BIGGER CONGRATS on giving up the "poison"!!!! You won't regret it!

Third... WOOHOO on the fence! Want to share a picture??

Enjoy your biking!! DS and I did some biking together a few years ago and it was nice!

****************

Lunch was delicious. I am trying that black bean and tomato combo that I talked about a few weeks ago with a variety of different veggies and it hasn't been bad yet! Today's combo was sauteed broccoli slaw and red bell pepper, 1/2 C black beans, and 1/2 C mild salsa. It was warm and a bit spicy and delicious! A bit of shredded cheddar would have been a tasty addition, but we were out at home, so I opted to go without. Grapefruit for dessert was also tasty, but it took me so long to eat because it was huge, that my aide had to take the class back to the room for me so I could finish it!

Okay.... my students "FUN FRIDAY" video is nearly over, so I will be dashing for now. Our rainy weather has turned into icy/snowy precipitation:faint: YUCK!!! Nothing planned for dinner tonight, nothing defrosted. DH is home from Texas, but headed to Maine for the day and I don't know when he will be returning.... hopefully early rather than later, due to this crummy weather.

I have some chicken ready to make into curried chicken. I was going to save it for tomorrow, as it takes a bit of time to process all of the produce for the recipe, but maybe I'll bite the bullet and do it tonight. I do have a block of cheddar and could make broccoli cheddar soup, but the cheddar isn't reduced fat, so I would have to really be careful of my portion.

FORGOT TO MENTION.... DD's prom dress arrived already and looks great. It is actually just a bit large on her (we were concerned it might be tight), so se may end up having to have it taken in just a bit. She hasn't tried it with the appropriate undergarments yet, so we will wait and see a bit. I have a great shop that has done alterations on other formal wear for me before, so I know I could get it done.

TTYL......................P

QOTD Friday, April 12, 2013: What is your reason to exercise today? It can be from the list or share you own. Bonus points if you share your favorite exercise excuse and a way to bust it.

Have a great day all! :flower3:

My reason to exercise is because I want to feel better and have some me time. I like to take our dog for a walk and l listen to podcasts on my ipod. I found this station on itunes called after buzz tv and it does wrap ups on shows after they air.

As for my favorite excuse it is that I had a long day at work and I am tired. My way to bust it is to tell myself that this is my time alone.

Helen, I love the "syns" concept -- it sounds so much more British than the weeklies that I get on WW! ;) A big :woohoo: to you on your fabulous loss this year! Keep up the good work! :yay:

As for a real treat I try to limit it to the weekends. I dont find it a hassle because I am trying really hard to stay within my points daily. I had a big gain a couple weeks ago and am still trying to get it off.

Don't you wish it would come off as fast as it goes on?

I like to have treats available daily, although since I do low carb (not necessarily Atkins), my treats are usually a little sugar free jello with a dollop of whipped cream. That is a total of 0 carbs!!! Then I also have Friday free day, where I allow myself to have whatever without guilt. I also love junk food so when I am craving it during the week, I just put it off for Friday. Although usually by then, I am over one craving and on to another and never eat everything I have been craving all week in just one day. It works great for me, I never feel deprived or that I can't have something I want because I know I can have it on Friday. Also, I do feel that it keeps me on track and I am loosing weight, so for me its all good!!

I hope that you enjoyed your night off and your day today! :flower3: Not feeling guilty about treats is a great strategy.

Susan, oodles and oodles of pixiedust: and good thoughts for sweet little Sunny. :cat: She is such a cutie and lucky to have her 4 footed and 2 footed kitty mamas!

Hello Lisa!! Thank you for hosting us this week.

My reason to exercise is for strength. My core was very weak and I kept injuring myself. I do landscaping as my hobby and in order for me to continue that I need to build strength. I "dead lift" a lot of stuff and my physical therapist is helping me there.

INCH loss around my gut. I have lost weight but it seems to be hard as HECK to move that one. Weight loss alone is not going to do it.

Fixing my feet. I am digging the golf ball into my foot as I type. My plantar fascia muscles are ticked off, which has set off a chain reaction of issues in my body.

No bonus here. I am too new to all this. One day I will be able to answer that.

Jeannine

You do get bonus points because you are having that terrible PF and yet you are not letting that stop you! :cool1:

I was thinking about your DH and wondering if you could put together the portions for him so he didn't have to think about it but just grab it. It wouldn't be a long term solution but just until he got the hang of things. It is a lot to deal with his illness and the inevitable feelings of loss and frustration at you new way of life. It's so tough on those guys. :grouphug:

Thanks Lisa for the above - I've saved just the ones for me.. I have diabetes and am trying to kick it with diet and exercise altho I don't exercise that much.. been trying to get a little more walking in now that weather is nicer and I signed back up for once a week Zumba.. I could do more and when I do I feel like alot those mentioned above.. I am very good at brushing it off - been doing it for years so I don't really have a way to bust it..

Sounds like you are busting those excuses one at a time with your walking and Zumba. :thumbsup2 It's all those little good choices that will add up to big changes for you! ::yes::

Big  to you, Pamela. It just goes to show that no matter what number shows on the scale that we all struggle with this healthy living thing. Never give up is probably the biggest thing I have taken away from WISH and the one that keeps me going time after time when I would have given up by myself long ago. You can do it! :flower3: I think you will get some new perspective and excitement with your new job. :cool1:

Weighed in...I was 188 last September before our cruise, took 5 months off, yep, put a bit back on...likely weighed over 205 at the start of April...so today's weight was 202.8...hitting Onederland NEXT WEEK! Shooting for 189 by the end of April!!!

You are so close to ONE-derland -- you can do it! :thumbsup2

Saw this on fb today and loved it:

Life has no remote. Get up and change it yourself.

Love the quote, Rose. Hang in there.

Good luck and hugs to all those that are having a rough go of it
Melinda

Melinda, big hugs to you and big kudos for not giving up. You can do it! :thumbsup2 Sorry about the DH issue. As Pamela said sometimes you have to lead by example.

I'm having a rough week too - it started out so well but this week was bad

Sorry about the bad week. :flower3: Luckily the wagon is right back here for you.

Speaking of circling the wagon, where are you, Buffy? We are heading to your house next. :goodvibes

Hello and Happy Friday! I have had a rough time since Easter as well and got on the scale this morning all resigned to having to report a gain only to find a loss. WTH?? But I'll take it I have quit my Diet Dr. Of course that just means I can start on the back one now Hope everyone has a great Friday and an even better weekend!

Great job on the Diet Dr. Pepper! :thumbsup2 And I think bike riding sounds like much more fun than fence building. ;)

I am tired is my favorite exercise excuse, too. :flower3:

I had been successful busting it by working out first thing in the morning but the time change did a big number on that plan but things are getting better.

Oodles of pixiedust: for everyone who is struggling now. The good thing is that we are all here and we are not ever, ever, ever giving up! ::yes::

Well, jumped on the scales this morning to see 206......only one off this week, but still a loss.

Been a bit of an odd day, got a call at 6:30am to say my mum was being rushed into hopital with breathing difficulties (she has asthma), so been there with her most of the day whilst they try to stabilise her. Didn't actually get breakfast until we came home for a break at 2pm!!

Been back to see her tonight, she's seems a little better but they're keeping her in overnight for observation. Managed to stick to the diet today though despite everything.

So my reason for exercise today was that I object to the parking charges for visitors at the hospital, so when we went back for visiting this evening, we parked on the public road a few streets away and walked.........got some exercise I wasn't planning....thus I exercised as I'm tight with money!!!!

To everyone struggling getting back into the losing groove...

Imagine yourself at goal...put on that (imaginatively) inspiration outfit...and start jamming to Abba's Dancing Queen! It always seems to knock away the cobwebs of despair and that feeling f giving up on the hard road to goal...you are amazing, believe it! :)

Here is my confession, knew I would be gone from home from 3:00-11:00 and no way to get my smoothie so ate a clementine intending that to be my dinner, but then I needed to stop to get my girls dinner and caved with an order of KFC nuggets, not only nuggets but two containers of Ranch and buffalo sauce! Fried food and sauces are no nos for me...I have to get over it and start anew tomorrow, will be driving a total of 10 hours tomorrow..praying my back holds out! But will have an opportunity to get loads of walking n and plan on getting my 30 day shred done at 5am before I leave...will not miss a workout!!

Helen, so sorry to hear about your mum. Hope she is feeling better now. And please remember to take care of yourself. :hugs: Congrats on the loss! :yay:

QOTD Saturday, April 13, 2013: Which of these super foods would you like to use in your meals this week? Any thing on this list that is new to you or looks intriguing?

I'll be back tomorrow with my answer and replies. Have a great evening all! :goodvibes

I need all the super foods I can get. I did nothing but binge all day and now I feel like complete rubbish!!!
I've really felt off all day, I wonder if I'm coming down with something?!?!
I've also had some nerve pain in my arm and spasms in my back. Must see the chiro on Monday, wish he was still open on Saturdays.
Anyone have any cleansing ideas for the weekend? I feel like I need to detox.
I'm going to look over the super foods list and try to get some for this week. We have vacation and I don't want to spend a lot of time eating out. We need some healthy lunch and dinner ideas.

I guess I'm gonna go to bed. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
We are doing yard work and purging household items.

Happy Saturday! I will try and get some of my landscaping pics uploaded today. I think we need some cheering up here.

KUDOS to our weekly host for the QOTD yesterday. It did help me get my butt out there and exercise. I thought of my reasons for exercising, really tuned into it and got out there and did it.

Now it does help that I am in PT and I am being guided by someone who has given me so many wonderful exercises to do safely.

As far as today and our QOTD, nice timing. I bought 2 sweet potatoes the other day and have not made them. We are resistant to eating them. ;) I have been on Pinterest looking at recipes for a week trying to decide how to make the sweet potatoes. I am leaning toward "chips" at this point. (ETA...I found a sweet potato bread! I know we will all like that.)

I want to make hummus. I also would like to try KALE. I know that is the "new thing" and I see it in the produce dept.

Also Bison meat. I don't see that on the list but that is one to try as well. It has higher protein, lower fat, and cholesterol that reg. lean beef. I would have to go to Whole Foods to get that, unless I can find a local butcher who carries it.

Enjoy the day. I will try and upload some pic's!!!:hyper:

:)

I am so sorry for the rough week that so many people seem to be having. I am very proud of everyone for hanging in there. There seems to be a consistent theme--eat crappy=feel crappy. When am I going to learn that lesson.:thumbsup2

Helen--hope your Mom is feeling better.

BBL with replies. I am having a major back flare up. It is pretty uncomfortable. I am going to head out to one of the branch Y's in a few minutes and do gentle yoga. Hopefully it will help, because I really want to get outside and do some stuff around the yard this weekend.:goodvibes

I'll be back tomorrow with my answer and replies. Have a great evening all! :goodvibes
Thanks for sharing such a great list! And I'm so happy to see so many foods that I eat regularly!

I can honestly say that there was nothing I wasn't familiar with, but I haven't eaten it all. Many of those items are regulars in my family's diet, such as black beans, quinoa, brown rice, nuts, hummus, most of the fruits and veggies. I've tried lots of different grains, especially when DS was younger and had wheat allergies, but we limit our carbs more now, so we don't have them often.

This week will include veggie burgers, beans, spinach...lots of things. Shameless plug for our recipe thread, as there are lots of recipes there that include many of these Super Foods!

I need all the super foods I can get. I did nothing but binge all day and now I feel like complete rubbish!!!

For cleansing I would personally recommend lots of greens, fruits, and non-starchy veggies....both raw and cooked, small portions of nuts/seeds for protein. No dairy, limited meats. Lots of water and decaf green tea.. Try this for 2-3 days. It should help clean out your system and feel better!

********************

I'm out of time! BBL to finish catching up and chat! ............P

So as much as I ate last night, I'm down 1/2 a pound this morning. :confused3

Pamela, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure about the fruits because according to my chiro (he did ideal protein diet) fruits were considered carbs. I'm avoiding dairy this weekend for sure.
