Wisdom Teeth Removed - Update Post #46

strangely enough, when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I experienced very little pain afterwards. I always heard horror stories, but they never came true for me. Maybe I was just lucky, or had a really good oral surgeon! :thumbsup2

DD is doing great! She took a half a pain pill before bed last night and slept fine. She is a little puffy on one side this morning, but it is not real obvious. She said her jaw is a little stiff, but not hurting very much. I really think we dodged the bullet on this one!

Thanks again for all the advice and support!

Glad things are going well. I advise her to continue to take it easy for a few more days even if she feels ok, it took more than 48 hours for my dry socket to develop.

Glad she's doing well - she'll be feeling better exponentially as the days go on. My DD (13) is having a wizdom tooth extracted in July. I like to hear of people healing well :)

Glad to hear she is doing so well. About 24 hours after surgery would be the peak swelling - so she is very lucky.

Yeah!:thumbsup2

DD 16 got hers out yesterday. She's been doing pretty well. She's had jello, milkshakes, ice cream, warm soup and mashed potatoes. She loved the banana/mango milkshake I made her at supper last night. :thumbsup2 Her face is swollen and flushed even though she's on a steroid for swelling.

And they had to stick her at least twice to get the IV started and the first one must have hit a nerve. Her left palm and two fingers have been dead for more than 24 hours, but she think it's starting to come back a little finally.

Interesting the difference in what one surgeon suggests vs. another. DD can't have any sodas for the next week. They can dissolve the stitches. No straws or really hot liquids. Ice only for the first 24 hours, then nothing for the second 24 and moist heat the third 24.

She's doing better than I thought. She's spent most of the day today in a recliner chatting with her friends via computer.

Sure glad to hear it is going so well Peggy. Can I have the rest of her pain pills?;)

Sorry, non-transferable!

DD is doing well. She is still taking over the counter pain meds on a regular basis. Tonight, she managed to eat some French Toast. She doesn't like it because she is still having a little bleeding from time to time. I guess she thought she'd heel overnight. LOL! The little swelling she had is gone. Oh, her latest beau brought her a beautiful bouquet to make her feel better. So, I guess it wasn't all that bad! :rotfl:

Hope your DD feels better very soon!!

Thanks. Yours too. It was sort of comforting to know another DISer was going through the same thing at almost the same time.
