Ok, we have a group of family that does the Dells together every year..and they are in all different income brackets.

We are planning on a few nights at Treasure Island, but would like to do Noahs Ark too...that being said, we have stayed at the Flamingo which includes Noahs Ark tickets in the lodging price so that some of the group can afford it...

Now, the Flamingo is so bad, that some people do not want to stay there...the Monaco has a package with discounted tickets. Anyone ever stayed there?

We have not stayed at any of those places but I have an alternative idea. What about renting a house? We rent from Sand County Service Co and have had great luck. The house we had two years ago was huge (last one left so we had no choice) and could easily accomodate two or three families.

Other than that, the big resorts will often have weekday specials, especially Great Wolf and the new Chula Vista.

I'm only about an hour away from the Dells. I've stayed at Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, and Wilderness Resort. Our favorite is Wilderness Resort.

There's a new outlet mall, too. :thumbsup2

And the outlet mall has a Disney Store outlet! We left with a giant bag full of great deals.

We ended up at the Kalahari, but when we were looking at rooms, Chula Vista had some good prices on 2 and 3 bedroom suites, new construction, with full kitchens and hot tubs for a good price. The water park didn't look quite as spectacular but if you're going in the summer you'll have your pick of waterparks anyway.

LOVE the Dells!! We go every year with our extended family (20+ people)!! Just like yours, each family has their own amount that they can and are willing to spend. Some families camp, some stay in hotels, etc.

I love this idea! We have rented from this place for many, many years:

Overall, have a GREAT time!! :)

I am so excited to hear about the Disney Outlet. Can anyone tell me where it is?

It was directly across the street from the (very large and hard to miss) Kalahari Resort, close to the last exit off 94 for the Dells. (I think the exit number was 92?) It was a bit off of the road but I believe you could see the sign from the major highway that goes through the Dells. There is a movie theater, a cute little cheese shop, a silver Denny's... right at the same intersection. It's not a huge outlet mall but nice and new, and the Disney Store was pretty centrally located. It has an interior open-air corridor so we did have to park and walk a bit to get there.

It was a Tanger Outlet so you could probably look up the exact address on the Tanger website. I highly recommend it; we got kids' t-shirts for $2.99 each and saw the same ones this week at the Mall of America for $10+.

I saw a show on water parks the other day that discussed a couple of Dells parks. I never knew about it before! I must be living under a rock.

I would love to hear any other info about the area, if anyone wants to share (hopefully I'm not highjacking!)

I know where that mall is...last summer when we were there we ate at the Retro Dennys Diner..it was right there, but not open yet..I am soo excited.

We have stayed at a lot of different places at the Dells as well...my personal favorite is the Wilderness, however, we have done that for so many years as well as the Polynesian when the kids were little that we wanted to try something different. Last year we did a few nights at the Flamingo as it was only $80.oo per night and it included 2 Noahs Ark passes..which were valued as much as the room charge...it was such a pit, but Noahs Ark was a lot of fun and something different...and, it allowed a lot of different income levels to experience Noahs Ark as well...

We go to the Dells every year. I do not have any advice on hotels since we usually just go for the day and drive home in the evening. We're about 2 hours away. But I'm VERY excited to hear about the Disney Outlet Store. Hmm...I do have vacation coming up in July...... ;)

Another vote for Wilderness. You don't mention how many are going, but if you are into "togetherness" they have large cabins, condos, and villas that sleep up to twenty or so. Someone else has already posted the link. The good thing about the bigger resorts is that they have the indoor waterparks that you can use if the weather is bad.

There is actually some natural beauty in the area as well. That is what drew the original tourists long before the moccasins, taffy, t-shirt shops and waterparks. There are boat/duck rides of different types. Parts of the Dells are hokey but it is certainly family oriented.
