Wireless Router?

I am curious I keep seeing in the packing lists pages about the wireless router.... how does that work? I plug it in my room, pay and then I have wireless internet?

No already paying for internet. Just paying for the rounter so wireless network and surf the net from anywhere in the house.

Right, that's what I have at my house, but there are people saying not to forget to bring the router to WDW with you! That's what my question is- Why do you need it there?

I know wired internet is free when you stay in the DVC properties, and some people bring the router so they can use it with their Itouch, or multiple computers or so they can sit wherever they want with their laptop. I suppose the same reasons would apply if you paid for the wired internet.

Yes we bring a router so that we are not connected to a line in one place in the room. DVC here, so there is no daily fee for me (us). If you take a wireless router you just plug the ethernet cable in the room to it making your connection wireless. You have to log on daily and accept the daily charge to your room. You must have room charging to do this. I have a wireless "travel" router. It is a D-Link travel router. It comes in a little case with all of the cords and wires and converters (foreign travel). My router is the size of a deck of cards. So easy to travel with and works great. You do have to set it up at home first and password protect it, unless you plan to provide free wireless connection to all of your resort friends within range of your room.

also-if you are going to do this ( im a computer professional-when i travel i leave my computer at home LOL) please please please change the administrative log in on your router-because if i am in the next room with a computer-and you dont-i dont need your password to log into your router-i know the default ip and admin account for most-ill just log in and change yours.

Wow- yeah mine I honestly don't even know, I would have to ask DH because I can get on the internet and that's about it! I'm just getting the hang of facebook and semi learning this and the Disney website! Thank you for that though I will make sure!
