I am typing this at BWV through a free wireless connection that apparently went on line today. I connected with a Itouch, an Asus tranformer (android) and Windows Vista. It is fast and free, according to tech support( had problems with the vista config) I was told that this went online today at all the " upper resorts" (their words). Not sure which exactly, but she did say not at the BLT until tomorrow.

The initial login screen says free and you just have to accept the term etc. No mention of it being a DVC perk, just free.

I had hesitated buying a wireless router because I figured wireless would be in the near future. I had no idea it would be this close.

Very happy!!

I'm typing this from my bed in the Grand Floridian, so clearly it's working here. What's funny is that I totally forgot there shouldn't be wireless - just so used to it at most other places these days. Didn't realize the novelty until I saw this thread! :-)

Wouldn't you know. I had one travel router and bought another for our upcoming trip because we have 4 rooms booked. Too late to return it now. Oh well, it will be great to have wireless without any extra hardware! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the timely update! I leave tomorrow morning and my wireless router is already packed. Since it's tiny, I'll leave it in my bag just in case things don't work out while I'm there. I'm curious about who is getting this new service. Is it delux resorts and is it free to all. That's what it sounds like to me. I wonder if I can still use my router since it's PW protected.

I hope OKW gets that soon too! The router we have in our OL is wishing to be trashed!:thumbsup2

Yes I was just at the end of Aug reading the posts about routers and ordered one after recomendations on here....figured it would be forever to get WIFI at BWV but I guess we did...head down on Tues for our stay but we have a Standard this time so who knows it you will get it out there and the end of the loooooog hall...:goodvibes

Since they know that people bring/pack/buy routers, couldn't they actually announce this "innovation"? This is pretty big news for a lot of travelers who rely on internet during their trip. How about a PR?

It just seems like this is news that we should be reading about from Disney, not a message board.

Regardless, it's GOOD news, so I should probably stop complaining.

:rotfl2: us too! We leave tomorrow!

That is great - too bad DH & I are staying at the Swan next month on our quick trip - we are just taking the iPad and phones I think. Anyone know if the Swan has wireless (I'm sure it's not free though!). Sorry that's a hijack - feel free to ignore me!

checking in to BLT tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out. Have a wireless router in our OL but guess we won't need that anymore!

This is wonderful news :goodvibes

Anyone know if the wireless is up and running at SSR yet?

Swan-Dolphin does have wireless. Access price is included as part of your daily resort fee.

Excellent news :goodvibes....thanks for sharing....although I'll probably bring our wireless router just in case:)

Great news! :dance3:

I'm sure wireless would be available everywhere by my Spring Break trip, if not already there yet now. I used to always bring my laptop and always use an ethernet cable. But I plan to use only my phone or iPad in the next trip. So wireless would be a must. And I don't need to bring my own router.

Ah, iPads poolside! (We saw plenty in active use at Aulani last month tapping into the resort's WiFi. Guessing this will become an increasingly common scene.)

I would still bring that router. Once everyone is using the wireless, it might get slow. I wish I would have brought mine to VGC in May. Ended up having to use the wired because the wireless in the room was only 1 bar.
