Isn't there something that you can bring with you to get a wireless WiFi connection in the rooms at the DVC resorts?

I swear about a year ago I saw someone mention some type of portable router that plugs into the wall outlet that allows them to have wireless access.

Anyone have a clue what I am talking about? I asked the computer guys at Circuit City and they told me I needed a wireless router but that isn't what I am remembering.

You don't need to bring anything with you. The cord you need to use is in the closet. I was there in November and had not problem.

I'd second the recommendation for the Apple Airport Express. I carry one with us on all our trips. That way I'm not tied to the spot where the connection in the wall is; I can use my laptop anywhere in the unit.:surfweb:

Another Airport Express fan. I used it with my laptop and last trip I left my laptop at home and used the Airport Express with my iPhone.

I want to be wireless - not tied to the desk. :)

Thanks! Will check that out. :thumbsup2

I like the Apple Airport Express because it's small and the unit itself plugs into the wall, so there are no additional power cables to carry. Great instructions are here: http://thesmallwave.com/2008/04/17/apple-airport-express-a-wireless-hotel-room-network/

Wow with that many recommendations I will definitely check out the Airport Express! Can you use it with a PC or just Apple products?

Apple is ecumenical - you can use it with a Windows, UNIX or what-have you machine as easily as with a Mac.

Thanks! My next computer will be a Mac but until then we will be bringing our PC laptops.

FYI We took our own personal Linksys router from home, worked wonders! If you already have one, you might consider packing it rather than purchasing a new one.

Feel free to call me dense but I'm still confused.
All the things I look at talk about using a laptop to set things up before using it with other devices.
Assuming I buy Airport Express, how do I set it up (once I get to disney) without having a laptop and only an iphone :confused3

I had already used by AE with my laptop at WDW before I got my iPhone, so the AE was already configured. I do NOT really understand networking. I just do what the set-up screen tells me to do. Someone else will need to post about whether you can configure an AE at home to use your iPhone and then have it work at WDW without another configuration.
