or

anything i ought to know (and obviously don't) about protecting my dslr from cold weather? not sure if due to the digital, if it would be more sensitve to cold than a regular 35mm film camera?
thanks

Batteries tend to drain faster in colder weather - found that out the hard way trying to take pictures of my niece and nephew's soccer game on a near-freezing day.

I spotted this article on naturescapes.net that talks about equipment issues when photographing on cold winter days.

Hope it helps!

be careful what you meter off when its snowy. the bright white snow can tend to make the camera underexpose and turn the snow a dreary gray and not a beautiful white so make sure you meter off something with a midtone.

Metering from snow is no problem with the Zone System, take a reading and add 2-3 stops.

I try to keep my camera inside my coat until I am ready to take the photo.

A snowstorm is one of the very rare occasions when I will sometimes use a UV filter, just to keep the snowflakes off the lens. On a bright snowy day I usually use a polarizer instead.

Magic Kingdom and Disney Studios snow is probably worse for lenses than real snow! ;)
