So I have made a few posts but since some things are starting to come together I figured I would start one of these nifty planning journal thingies
I will tell you the story of DF and I first then get into the wedding stuff.
DF (Steve) and I met at a party when I had first moved to NJ from Portland, OR. I was a youngin' at all of 20 years old and was having a grand old time at a party and I evidently caught his eye because he stalked me the rest of the night and wouldn't let me flirt with anyone else!!!
He was pretty cute though so I wasn't complaining too much. Anyway, I needed a place to live and he and his roommate needed someone for the 3rd bedroom in their place so I moved in. I was without a bed as of yet so he oh so generously offered me his and we have been together ever since.
teehee...
Fast forward 5 1/2 years to the proposal. I am a big time theatre geek since I was a little kid. Last March I was playing one of the evil stepsisters in a local production of Cinderella and he decided, knowing what a ham I am, to make it a big bang of a proposal. So behind my back he invited ALL our friends to come to a Saturday night show AND managed to fly my mom and step-father out from Portland!!! At curtain call, instead of the lights dimming like normal, the actress who played the step-mother came out and announced that since Cinderella got her prince she needed a prince for her OWN daughters. Then Steve came out from backstage, all dressed up and carrying 2 dozen red roses, and then froze!!
He forgot what he meant to say with 350 people staring at him so I had to prompt him to ask me to marry him and put the ring on my finger! I was sobbing, I found out later every female in the audience was sobbing, the entire cast broke into the finale wedding song from the show for us and I had to drag a still frozen now fiance behind the curtains before he was stuck out there in the dark. It was perfect, and romantic, and funny, and so us.
Fast forward another 6 months to the wedding. We always knew we wanted a destination wedding since my family is on one coast and his is on the other. If one family has to fly then why not make everyone fly! When I suggested Disney with a 2 week honeymoon I fully expected him to balk but instead he got SUPER excited and agreed immediately!!! Considering I only began my conversion of him to fellow Disney fanatic last year I was very impressed with my abilities
So now I am 1 year out and finally able to actually start with some real planning!!!
The details so far...
Intimate Wedding, looking like the full 18 guests will be there one way or another. 2:30pm at SBP with a reception in a currently secret location. It is secret because it has not revealed itself too me
I have lots of ideas, but nothing definite yet. As my username says, I loves me some wine and therefore knew that I MUST plan my wedding during the F&W Festival so that much time could be spent there. I am keeping it all very simple, no real upgrades to the basic package except corsages and a bouquet for my MOH and such. Probably going to do Randy Chapman for photography and an outside videographer. We are staying at POFQ for the whole 2 weeks although I have a sneaking suspicion that my mom is trying to surprise us with 2-3 nights in the Boardwalk right before and right after the ceremony.
I was originally thinking about doing dinner after the ceremony at Spoodles since it is right there on the Boardwalk then going to Epcot for a dessert party, but now I am kind of going iffy on the dessert party. After dinner and cake I just don't know that I want to spend MORE money on MORE food! So I have been thinking about doing a private room at California Grill and watching Wishes from the roof but I am open to other suggestions!! I just want something that will really end the evening with a "bang". We will probably go out to PI or Atlantic Dance Hall with the younger folk of our guests (meaning sans parents and our underage niece) after the reception but I want something really spectacular and within our $2500 reception budget
I have to track down a bridal shop that carries plus size dresses so I can go try something on although I am wanting to try and lose 50-75 lbs before next year but this will still leave me firmly in plus sizes. I am really digging the Alfred Angelo dream in color line but I want to go shopping in a store, not just online.
Yeah - so that is a lot of info for my first post! I will update as more stuff happens. Right now I am just waiting for a check from my dad so I can mail our contract in before November 5th. OMG!!! I am getting MARRIED!!! And DF and I will have been together 7 years by the time we finally get hitched, the longest of any of our friends. Obviously neither one of us were in much of a rush
