That 2012 ToT was horibble. Mid to high 70s but with high humidity, I think Jeff Galloway announced at the start it was the equivalent of 85°+ at the start. The next two years still had temperatures in the 70s at the start, but the humidity was way down and the conditions so much better. At least training in Atlanta usually prepares you for some of those conditions.Even if its not 90 at 10:30 pm,you don't want it that hot,the heat just carries over, your body is warm from all day meaning you will sweat,a lot!!Tower of Terror I think 2 years ago was really miserable on a 88-90 degree day, probably more humidity than early November but I sweat more on that race than even on fulls, people not used to the heat were getting sick all over, not ideal, and thats 3.1 miles less than W&D.

A different kind of sweeping query... does anyone know/remember where are likely to be the hard sweep points, where one might actually find the sweep bus? Or, alternatively, thoughts on really good spots to bag it if I need to cut my losses and end my race early? High ankle sprain - gah! Might be better within 2 weeks and good enough to handle an easy run of W&D, but if I need to call it quits I'd love to ID a few spots that would make it relatively easy. Read: I really do not want to be sitting on the side of the road for an hour, waiting for someone to come get me, lol! I remember seeing a bus in the AK parking lots last year, but that's all I noticed.
This is GREAT - thank you! I started thinking of that after I posted: in theory, stopping and staying until they come get me at a med tent would work, no? I could also get ice on it there, which would be helpful. There will be a set of buses at AK, also out on Osceola next to any medical. There is usually a hard sweep at ESPN and final hard sweep is between Hollywood Studios and Beach/Yacht club. Once you go under the bridge you are safe if I remember correctly.

You rock wilkeliza! I suspect I'm not going to know if I can manage running on it until race day, so I'm planning for all contingencies at this point. I figure if it's really hurting, I call it a night, cheer for a while, then get my party on over at EPYep a med tent would work. Depending on what corral you are in there are also police officers on the overpasses. You can always pull off to one of them. Worst case if I see a runner "down" I will run over ask if they are okay and ask if they would like me to send the next CM I see back to them.

So these cards are not reloadable??? The only reason I ask is that the likelihood of me staying to the afterparty is pretty slim. I was just planning on giving it to one of my kids for a park souvenir. My card is here today. I guess it's for the best that I loaded a different card with money since they're not activating it until the 6th. Of course I really didn't want to deal with 2 cards, but whatever. At this point I'm literally only going because JetBlue doesn't fly to Canada.
Does everyone typically wear their magic band during their races? Or do you have someone meet you with it after the race?

Yep, my plan, exactly. I could just skip the race altogether and go to the party, but I'm paying for the medal - may as well do what I can, get it and donate it, make someone else happyI'm way under trained so I have a similar plan. I'll see how I feel day of and worst case I pull myself and go have fun at the party. No harm no foul. I'll donate the medal to a charity and have a ball.
