Wine and Dine 2015

Fuel and fluids...

I did 15 miles Sat. and fueled with a gel, then a Honey Stinger waffle, another gel, and 1/2 an Uncrustable and ate the other half immediately after finishing. It worked beautifully!

Hydration... I'll just say that in addition to "how much?" being an individual thing, it's also a weather/climate thing. It's still freaking summer down here in FL and I lost a whopping (and frightening) almost 10% of my body weight to sweat on a long run last month. I felt like total garbage for almost 2 weeks after, so I've been upping my fluid intake since. For 15 miles I went through around 16oz of water and Nuun before, 50+ ounces of Nuun during, and downed another 16oz of Gatorade and chocolate milk immediately after. It was just enough and I probably could have comfortably even thrown in another 6-8oz during the run, but I was sick to death of warm Nuun. Now on a cool day in winter, I'll barely break a sweat and won't need more than maybe 10-15oz total for a half, and that's mostly to wash down fuel.

I'm so excited! I finally broke down and ordered an iPhone 6. I've had the 4 since it came out lol. I really wanted the rose gold 6s but I refrained. :) Excited that now I will have a good phone with a good camera for W&D! :)

A friend just got a mid-size rental from Hertz via Priceline name your price for $10 a day. I took that as a sign and got one myself. Although it is far from necessary, it is nice to have a car to get to & from the expo, 5K and MVMCP with your own transportation. I will use the event transportation for the race, and my own ambulation through International Gateway from the after party.

I'm going to look into that, thank you! We are actually renting a car to drive to Disney as it's cheaper than flying (and long story short we are recently short a vehicle thanks to an uninsured driver) so we'll need one for the week. We do plan on just stopping at the expo prior to check-in so it will make it convenient. What size car did you guys get? Looking at some pricing it looks like we should be able to get a mid size car for about $24/day, but it's just two of us so we could go smaller. I just don't want to be hit with a million fees when we pick it up or drop it off.

She bid $10 per day for a midsize (Dodge Avenger).
Before placing the bid it calculates what the total will be with taxes and such. I have used Priceline quite a few times when flying into MCO. You pay if your bid is accepted. Then only thing that you will need to provide at the counter when getting your car is the CC or debit card for the deposit. Or if you wish to add a secondary driver.

So I got a trainer for the last 5 weeks to try and get me back up to race day speed. She is requiring proof of runs through my garmin (maps and times) and if I miss one she'll drop me as I'm not dedicated enough. I totally get it and need the tough lough right now. I'm also ramping up mileage pretty fast but she said since I have done a 5K this year and did 2 halves and a 10 miler last year that she believes I'll be okay getting up to mileage fast.

So, I guess I better get a hotel for Saturday night now ... :scared:

Where is everyone staying?

Thanks for this! I just booked one for myself. :)

Hi Everyone, popping in to this thread to ask if anyone has the link for the discounted park tickets. DH and I are doing AP's this year since it makes sense with more than one trip (yay!) but we're going with another couple to run W&D and they need tix (and I'm naturally the Julie McCoy of the group, LOL) Our Active.com emails have the code, but I can't find a link anywhere for the online ticket store. The only thing I'm finding on the rD site is a link to tix for the after party. We bought the discounted tix last year and I found the link much more easily! Any help would be greatly appreciated! If anyone has it, feel free to PM me if it isn't appropriate to post the link openly.

Many thanks and happy training!

I'm not sure if this link goes directly to the right page: http://www.rundisney.com/travel/disneyworld/

If not it's in the Travel menu at the top, Walt Disney World, and expand the Travel Packages for Wine & Dine section. Despite the name, it's got more info than just travel packages. :)

Thank you! We'll be renting from our city in FL and it looks like $15 might be the lowest, but it's still a good deal!

All Star Movies...meh. But we got the military discount and it was about the only place it was available that weekend.
