Wine and Dine 2015

Man, lots of chatting while I was off at my short shift. Congratulations to everyone who got it. So sorry to those who didn't, I really hope you're able to look into alternative options that work for you.

But I'm with you @Keels about the craziness on the Facebook group. I checked on my phone while my systems were being slow at work and was just really frustrated that my entire newsfeed was bogged down by grouchy and stubborn posts about not getting in (don't get me wrong, I feel for them as I can't imagine being not hat side of the fence, but sometimes the way people say things just drives me nuts). Had to lock my phone away from me so I wouldn't keep getting annoyed.

It's nice to know that all of my planning so far hasn't been for 'nothing'. I know I plan on going back for the WDW Full in 2017 so it's nice to start building my knowledge on events at WDW and WDW itself, but now my plans seem so much more real! Guess this means I can go update my PTR and get my training posts going. Officially.

I agree! I feel for them too (especially since my sister is one of them) but some of their logic and complaints make no sense.

It usually takes a little bit of digging around to find the Event ID number. All the events are set-up on Active around the time that pricing goes on the RunDisney page, but they're hidden via discrepancies in the naming convention. Like, for Disneyland Half, the URL contained Anaheim_Fl instead of Anaheim_Ca. Once I find that, I can usually just drop in the event ID and it will take me to the waiver page and then I know it's good to go.

I'll track down the Avengers link when DVC/AP registration goes live and post it for you!

Keels, I don't know if you plan on doing the Princess half next year, but do you think you can find the Event ID for that one too? You were a lifesaver today with that link. :worship: I am hoping to do the glass slipper and I'm sure that one is going to sell out fast. Thank you again for the help!!

Exactly! I know I would be disappointed as well, but I guess that's why I spent the time trying to track down the link, making sure I was on early and making sure my husband was ready to register himself, etc., etc. But some of the people acting like this was a personal affront JUST to them ... geez, give me a break.

I don't recall reading about the Virtual Queue in registrations prior to this, so maybe that's something new to expect going forward - it definitely is a way to funnel registrants effectively and basically make sure that people who clicked the RunDisney link first get a better shot. I do think that the Active side of things should be improved - because it's really sucky that people got through payment processing only to be told THEN that there were no spots left.

And yeah - we all knew it was going to go fast, especially after early registration went so fast. And I give runDisney credit for not doing anything crazy like doubling capacity to make it where not only the race itself but the after party would be out-of-control crowded and unenjoyable. But, if you look at the flip side - with ALL of the approved charities currently on waitlists for spots, that means a lot of worthy organizations are in position to make FAR more money at this even than they would previously.

I'm glad it seems like all my DIS buddies that wanted in got in, and I'm still hopefully that those on this thread that didn't right away will find a way in.

I'll keep my eyes peeled as bibs become available and post here! I just got a bib for Pixie Dust last week and that sold out quickly, so you never know!

I agree! So grateful! Can you post the link for the Avengers run too.

YUP! I'm planning on GSC myself, so I'll definitely be on the lookout for that one. I've already promised Avengers as well - Avengers I should be able to track down next week!

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but Marathon Tours is putting their W&D bibs on sale tomorrow! You might have your sister keep tabs on them!

Thank you so much!! I assume you will post it on the Princess thread? lol I already subscribed to it weeks ago. Thinking of doing the Tinkerbell for a C2C next year. My DD graduates college next May and I have to see when that is before I can commit to the date. At least I have till August to figure it out. haha

So this wine and dine craziness has drawn me out of the lurker shadows! DH didnt get in, but I thinks he's signing up with ASPCA (fingers crossed, they sent him a commitment form). So glad that all these charities will be making lots of $ and I think we can get the kids to help and tie it in to "working" towards their Disney trip.

YAY! Please be sure to share his link here! Quite a few of us have said we'll make donations to anyone running via the ASPCA! My woofies are my children, so the ASPCA is a organization near and dear to my heart! I'll keep my fingers crossed for him!!

But of course! I'm looking forward to 2016 since it will just be me running. No more stressing about my slowpoke husband reading every. single. line. of. type. on the registration forms.

Oh my goodness!

Stop telling people- I'm planning on calling them as soon as they open tomorrow ;).

I've already got flights and DVC rooms booked so I'm running somehow

I will delete my posts, keep my fingers crossed and do a little Good JuJu dance for you!!!

Great idea, thanks! We are hoping to get a puppy this summer and our first baby was a black lab that we miss dearly. I am looking forward to raising money for the animals!

It's a possibility, but the downside is it looks like you lose a significant amount of money if you cancel, and she's not 100% sure she'll be able to go.

Share the link on here! I'm willing to donate. They all look like great charities, but I am partial towards ASPCA. Had I not gotten through registration today, they are who I would have chosen!

I'm paranoid about that part of it. I went through so quickly that I hope I checked all the right boxes. Just as an example, on my confirmation form, it says I selected that I'll be participating individually in a general division (or something like that). Was that the right one to click? Lol

Unless you're planning to compete in a wheelchair division, then yes!! :D
