Wine and Dine 2015

Decided to speed things up and go for another half this Sunday.

With Dopey training, I was slated for 13 ... might as well get a t-shirt and a medal if I'm going to run that distance, right?

DH and I did the same thing with our training. I think we included at least 3 races in our training. It definitely helps the training go a bit smoother since you get to run different routes and have other people there with you. Oh and there's the bling! I love the bling!!

See, that's the way I see it as well. I like to think I keep my walk pretty darn quick throughout with a few exceptions. I do still want to get my run up from the 60 at some point, but if my walk stays consistent I won't see any reason to change it. My 60/60 keeps me hovering around the 12-12:30 mile mark. When I tried out a 90/60 for a short 2 mile run I was able to get my pace to about an 11:30-11:45, but I was dying!!

I actually think I tend to be slower in the first half of my walk interval, especially later in a run when my body is more tired. Once I start to recover a bit, I will catch myself and crank up the walking pace a little.

I had reserved a BWV one bedroom for Wine and Dine weekend but it's a lot of points to use for only me and my BF. I waitlisted a studio and even though I kept checking on it, I knew the chances of someone backing out were slim to none. My waitlists NEVER come through. Well guess what?! I got a confirmation e-mail yesterday that it came through!!!! Super excited!!

I am also running a half this weekend - the NJ Half. I usually walk 1 minute every 2 miles, but am going to try more frequent 30 second walk breaks during this half just to see how it goes. I tried 3:30/:30 intervals today and had a solid 4 mile run. I am looking to do something a little different for a while to mix things up.

I've tried a bunch of different intervals in my few years of running. My last half a few weeks ago was 3/:30 and it felt great. The walk gave me enough time to recover, but not long enough to slow my pace. I PR'd by a 1 min and 14 seconds, so I guess it worked well. In training I straight run anything shorter than 7-8 miles. Above that and I go to intervals. I have a 10K in 3 weeks, but I'm not sure what would be faster for me - straight run or intervals?

Thanks - I also do pure runs for training distances short of 10 miles. I just mix in intervals for longer distances. Not trying to win any races here - just trying to have fun and stay healthy. But I am always interested in trying new things.

Awesome! I had wanted BWV but I'd have to rent points, so I knew I'd never get a studio and booked BC through rundisney instead. When I booked they told me even though BWV was a host resort, those were filled already. And I called the day before regular registration! So that is huge to get :)

We ended up sticking with POFQ for the first 3 nights through RD, that get's us though the race, and then rented points for OKW for the rest of our stay.

I'm doing the Lone Star Half in Arlington! It goes around Rangers Ballpark, JerryWorld and then the new downtown area. Should be a pretty flat and fast course.

I forgot about Lone Star. Good luck!!

You mentioned Dopey training getting you to 13 miles already?!?! Both Higdon and The Galloway Dopey training don't have you hitting 13 miles until the end of September. That's 5 months from now. Which training are you using?

Quick question for the Wine & Dine folks. A friend of mine is doing the half and mentioned she booked a room at the Grand Floridian for race weekend. She wasn't aware that there are host hotels. Would she be able walk from the Grand Floridian over to the Poly and use their buses to and from the Expo and the half? Thanks in advance. Wish I was doing this run with you all :(

Yes, the walk from Grand Floridian & Polynesian is very reasonable.

Certainly reasonable, but depending on how long she plans to enjoy the after party, a taxi may be worth the couple dollars to save the extra walk so late at night.

I like the new intervals with the 30 second walk. On Wednesday I ran 4 miles with a 3:30/:30 interval and felt pretty good. Today I ran 4 miles with a 3:00/:30 interval and felt great. This is a taper week because of the race that I am running on Sunday so I can't be sure if the ease of those runs is tied to the interval or the reduced mileage. I'll use them for a few weeks after the half marathon to get a better feel for that, but for now the results are very positive. This from a runner who hates using walk intervals.

We're getting close to ADR time, aren't we? What reservations is everyone eyeing?? Trying to decide where to eat before the race!

You already know I love talking about food!

Friday night- O'hana (may try to sneak in the new Trader Sam's before dinner)
Saturday lunch- Portobello's (Disney Springs)-Someone, can't remember who, mentioned that they ate their big meal at lunch before a nap and I really liked this idea
Saturday Dinner- Either a sandwich from Resor QS or will probably just eat like I would before a morning race, power bar and a banana bc I am going to chow down at the after party (That's the plan anyway)
Sunday lunch- Beaches and Cream, then bar hop around the BW
Sunday Dinner- will be a MVMCP so will probably just do QS so we don't miss out on anything
Monday Breakfast- contemplating a Character Breakfast (we leave for a cruise this day so we may just grab some Mickey Waffles)

We've never done O'hana! I know it will be hard convincing my husband to skip out on F&W stuff for a sit down meal, but I'll sure try!

I just wish they would come out with the F&W Dining Experiences schedule. *Le Sigh* I guess I will just go for ADRs and then cancel them if we want to try something F&W oriented.

I am going to try for BOG for an early, early dinner reservation on MVMCP night. We had such a blast there last time.

Tentative:
Friday (arrival day) Mama Melrose/Fantasmic Dinner package (carb loading!)
Saturday: No ADRs--we will get sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich after hitting the expo
Sunday: Late lunch/early dinner at Whisper Canyon Cafe before hitting MVMCP
Monday: Not sure yet--this will possibly be a HS day so maybe Sci Fi?
Tuesday: Not sure yet--this will possibly be an Epcot day, so maybe just hitting the various booths at F&W festival
Wednesday: Not sure yet... this will possibly be AK day...

So so far only 2 ADRs I want to get for sure...
