So this is the first time we are thinking about staying offsite and I'm really nervous about it. We love staying on the property, but there will be 8 if us. I like the looks of both Windsor Hills and Bonnet Creek. Windsor Hill will be a little cheaper with more space and splash pool, which the kids will love. However we'll have to rent 2 cars, which means 2 parking fees every day at the parks.

Is it possible to get away without renting a car at Bonnet Creek since they have shuttles? Will we hate it if we don't have a car? That's one of the reasons we like staying on property, but I would really like some space since I have an infant and a 2 year old. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Thanks for asking this question. We are in the same situation. I was wondering the exact same thing.

Either way I would rent cars, but Bonnet Creek will give you more flexibility, especially with a large group.

At Windsor Hills you would have to drive everyone everywhere. No other options. At Bonnet Creek you can drive -- or take the bus.

For example, the members with small kids can drive back to the resort for naps, while the rest of the group returns later on the shuttle bus.

Some people group can take the bus back late, when you can drive the kids home early.

The bus schedule at Bonnet Creek is pretty good, but there is a hole from around noon until 3 p.m. when there are no busses returning from the parks to the resort --- and that's when our family returns for naps --- so we always drive.

When you factor in the cost of transporting your group from the airport to the resort. Going shopping for supplies. The ease of moving from one resort to another to eat or look around, the cost of renting a car is pretty small.

You are going to need a rental for either. Thats a fact. A rental car will truly broaden your horizons, and all of Orlando will be your oyster. If you are bored you can hop in the mini van and go to outlet mall or grocery store. You can go to Yellow Dog Eats, north of Windermere. Do the proper thing. Get the wheels, honey :goodvibes

Thanks for the responses! I think if we could get by with one car or minivan, then I would do it in a heartbeat. But since we'll need 2 cars I may just stick to on property.

Not sure how long you are staying or what type of ticket you are buying, but you could get one AP with free parking instead of paying for parking for one group. If everyone is on the same page, you could rent a mini van and all go together instead of renting two cars. Windsor Hills in only about 5 min. from DW so it's not like you are driving that far going back and forth.

We'll only be staying for 5 nights, so it's not so much the parking fee that will put me over; it's the hassle of trying to follow each other. I'll be going with my parents and my dad will drive the other car. That man cannot drive, so I'm sure we'll get in fights about his driving my children around :rotfl: I don't think we could squeeze in one minivan either, because we'll have 4 car seats.
