windsor hills, quiet? (need answer ASAP please!)

If we stay on the ground floor, will we hear the people above us?

I have had a bad experience before (at Westgate) and since then have always requested the top floor.

however, there is a deal on a lower floor 3 bedroom unit so I would like some feedback.

We've stayed at WH several times and only once on the top floor. It's generally quiet, but you will hear those above you if someone is dragging a chair across the floor, or doing something that creates a LOT of noise in the unit. This has only happened a few times in all our visits, so it won't deter us from considering a first floor unit.

We've had both. I stayed 3 days once and the people upstairs were very inconsiderate and dragged chairs across the tile as well as rolling suitcase back and forth. Very annoying. And last trip we stayed 2 weeks on floor 1 and only heard some noises but not too annoying. I think its a gamble.

DH and I stayed in a first floor condo last September (2012) and never heard anyone else.

As a family we stayed in a townhouse in January and the kids could hear the next door neighbors quite a bit.

We stayed in a 2nd story condo (in a 3 story building) once for a month. We didn't hear any noises at all except for an alarm that someone left on in a vacant unit. I think it was the one on top of us. Other than that, we didn't hear any noises from other units at all, but I can't be sure that anyone was ever in any of the other units around us. There are so many condos in the area that unless you go during a busy time of year, there's a big chance you won't have any neighbors (or people above you).

Thanks. I am still debating. After that one bad experience, we are quite hesitant. If there is even a chance of noisy neighbors we may keep looking for a higher unit.

We have stayed on a lower level about 5 times. For 4 of those trips, The other time, I swear we had a herd of elephants upstairs. Running, jumping, dragging chairs really late into the night. They ended up leaving at about day 3 of our trip -at 6am and being really loud while packing. But, we had no issues the rest of the time.

Our last two trips, we stayed in a townhouse. First time, no problems at all with noise. Second time, we had a neighbor (not right next door) that would use the pool at 1 - 2 am. They were super loud, screaming and everything. I ended up calling the cops on the second occurrence it was so bad. Luckily, it was in the back of the unit where the master is. My kids in the front bedroom didn't hear it at all.

After talking, Dh and I decided to wait to find an upper unit.

We have had pretty good luck with top floor units, although even then we had an experience where the neighbors got up at 4:30 to get ready and decided to bang around and even VACUUM at 5am!!!!!!!

One night our neighbor came over and knocked on the door to tell us that he wasn't a vacationer but a permanent resident at WH, and he'd be having a Superbowl Party the next afternoon and that if it was too noisy we should come and tell him. Didn't hear a peep, so either they were quiet or the walls are super thick.
