We are coming in on April 5, and we got a great deal on a condo in Windsor Hills... I have heard alot of good news about the townhouses here, but what about the condos??? Has anyone stayed in these??? Is it a far walk to the community pool??? Any information would be appreciated. Thank youpixiedust: pixiedust: :joker: :cool1: :beach: :hourglass

I've not stayed in them, but I know quite a bit about them and the resort! (We own / run 3 townhomes there). They're pretty nice actually, the 3 bedroom condos are roughly 1500 sq feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, as big as the townhomes actually (but on 1 floor not 2, and 2 baths not 3)...and the condo buildings are situated right next to the pool / clubhouse!

I think you'll love it to be honest, the resort is absolutely gorgeous, and it's as close to WDW as staying onsite, but with much nicer amenities and facilities at a fraction of the cost of staying in an onsite hotel room!

Do please come back after your trip and write a review for these boards on the specific place you stayed in though, so others can share in your experience! We loved our first 2 trips there so much we decided to buy a place, prior to visiting we'd never heard of the resort (it was brand new in 05), and we hadn't even an inkling of a thought of buying a place by Disney, it was just so nice we couldn't resist!

I'll give you a few suggestions... one...pre-order your groceries on www.gardengrocer.com for delivery. Two... bring along a couple of DVDs for you and your kids to watch...in case you get a rainy day or just want to watch a movie at home one night. I was just there in Jan and went looking for a Blockbuster or something in the area...one thing I could NOT believe is there isn't one anywhere nearby...and we drove all around the area for an hour looking! LOL

They do let you watch movies in the clubhouse movie theater for free, and they have a movie library in the sundry shop you can choose from for free too, but their movies are only for viewing in the movie theater, not for checkout! (I suggested they could do so and probably make a little profit doing it, but they didn't seem interested! LOL)

I would also suggest asking your homeowner specifically what isn't provided in the home, so you can buy the right supplies in advance. Most vacation homes are defined as "self catering", meaning they don't have daily maid service, and are only stocked with a "starter" supply of things like TP, paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags, etc. No one ever told us this when we first rented and it was kind of annoying not to know, once it was explained to us we didn't mind, we just wished we'd known in advance so we could have planned accordingly. Meaning, we went to the store and THEN realized we were missing stuff. If they had simply explained it to us or given us a list of what we should have brought up front it would have made it all a lot smoother for us... and we wouldn't have felt as "surprised" by that part of it (we learned this is the norm....just didn't understand why they didn't tell us this in advance).

There's some helpful information along these lines here, some of it is specific to our homes, but most is specific to the resort and vacation homes in general:

We stayed in a condo last year and are returning this year. The condo we stayed in had a beautiful view of the water and was a short distance from the pool.

Windsor Hills is sooo convenient to everything! I am sure that you will love your stay!!!! If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

The walk to the pool depends on which building you are in. You can always jump in the car and park near the clubhouse if you feel the walk is too far. You will need a card-key to access the pool area. You get that at the office unless your homeowner has left one for you.
George had great suggestions on what to bring for supplies.

Hey Kim when are you going to be there!? We'll be down 4/14-4/21...I would guess you'd be easy to spot with 6 kids at the pool ! LOL... I'll say "hi" if we see you there for sure!

I think it's a $6 refundable deposit to get the key card...usually the owners don't leave one...good way to lose your card and your $6! LOL

I have a few good suggestions! Helps when you've been there 5-6 times and own/run a few places there though! ;p LOL It's always easier to visit a place though a 2nd time though once you've been there once already though, isn't it? When it's new and unfamiliar it's just a bit more challenging, so we try hard on our website and here on the DIS to share with all of you guys our own personal experiences and "expertise", so that you have an idea what to expect too! It's like having a friend take you somewhere for the first time, wish we'd had a little guidance and help our first time too! :)

Many owners though don't do a very good job of communicating to their guests what's provided and what isn't (it's not just Windsor Hills, it's all homes like this!)... so we tried to do our best to list all of this information in detail on our website. It's not that we minded having to buy some supplies, it was that we just wanted to know this in advance so we could pick up a few things when we hit the grocery store!

No, you have to go to the Windsor Hills Clubhouse where there is a welcome center. You go into the "office" there and they'll sign you out a card for your visit... I think it's a $6 refundable deposit per card (they just want to make sure you bring them back).

The office has hours from roughly 8am-10pm, (might be 10am opening), but very long hours in any case!

Hey George, saw you on, thought I'd let you know we did a "drive by" last week before our flight. We got no further than the gate turn around:rotfl: The guy was nice but very ADAMANT we could not go look at the townhome since our reservation was not current. I have to agree, the place looks great. Thanks for all info, come on June!

Hi Bon! :wave2:

Hehe...I told you to call me I could have gotten you in! :)

Heading down on 4/14 ourselves...can't wait!

So far we have luau reservations, CG reservations, and tickets to La Nouba!

(I'm so late on this, gotta get movin on more ressies!)

I heard from Iain (our MC) that Windsor Hills was just hoppin today, lots of guests, lots of people enjoying the pool, he said he has never seen it so busy, it's pretty full to capacity! (Which as an owner I think is a GREAT thing!) :)

Kona-Kona-Kona:thumbsup2 Coral Reef has been right on the money the past few time. Steven was our server & he was the best. Have fun:woohoo:

Hi George,

We are actually checking in the day you leave!:confused3 We are definitely easy to see with 6 children though!!! We get a lot of stares and "Are they ALL yours!!!;)The best was when we ate at LeCellier last year, a woman walked up to me, shaking her head and saying" This dinner must be costing you a fortune!!!" I just had to laugh! They are very well behaved though, so I can't complain. Have a great trip!!! Thanks for all of the great tips about Windsor Hills!!!

Cool! We'll probably be hanging out at the pool that day...we have to checkout from our place in the morning, but our flight isn't until 7pm that night...so not sure what to do all day yet! I'm sure lots will chime in here and say "go to the parks!" LOL.

The issue for us (or me at least) is being a pale white northerner who's been inside all winter, hanging out at a pool all day is tough for sunburn and such! LOL
