I'd post in the home interior section but obviously noone goes there anymore. So ladies where did you buy your window treatments from? I'm looking for any kind of treatments not neccessarily fabric. I do want to see hopw things look with my new paint/carpet b4 ordering so that'd be a plus. Any ideas at all would be great ty. I'd even be open to using an interior decorator if it doesn't blow the budget.

Help me out PLeeeeeeeeeeease:rolleyes:

I would also like to hear some opinions on this. :)

My neighbor had JcPenny do all her custom window treatments. They look beautiful!

I'll second JC Penny for window treatments. I bought most of mine on-line and got free shipping. They look great.

I bought all my blinds at Blinds2Go. I couldn't be happier with them. All of my fabric treatments I made myself.

I always go to JC Penny. I've never used custom, but a larger JC Penny store has all the variety you need and it really helps to see all the styles in person.

I feel the same way. I'm not good at these things and always need help with decorating and the such. Now, I'll need to save up some money to get our 1st floor done up. Now the kids are getting older, I can put up some good stuff. We have those plain lace panels up now for the time being.

I also heard the JCPenney is the place to go for custom drapery.

So how expensive is JCPenney?

Floor length drapes are just not doable with the way the bedroom is designed. I have 3 windows 1 on each outside wall and the will always wind up blocking a window no matter what we do as will some of the furniture we have.

I did hit the link and requested a catalog from the country curtains so thanx for that kribit.

As for making them myself i have no idea how to use a sewing machine though I'd love to learn and I'm thinking about trying it out. Is 35 too old:rotfl:

Anybody else who wants to chime in?

I've never personally used them, but I know that Home Depot Expo has a great selection of custom window treatments, from simple box pleat valances to upholstered cornice boards. Might be worth a look...

Penney's. I've never done custom, really they have such a huge selection of drapes, blinds, shades, etc. that I don't feel the need to go custom, but all my windows are standard sizes, too. They have great sales, and if you know what you want they often have free shiping when you order online, you don't even have to leave the house!

Country Curtains. They have a lot of beautiful window treatments. You can even order fabric swatches.

A few I brought the fabric and had custom made

My LR and Mbr are from fortunoffs

and my wooden shades and woven roman shade are from Blinds 2 go

I used Boone Fabrics (and one of their decorators)for my bedroom. We have quite a bit of Pottery Barn drapes, but we do live close to an outlet. I've heard good things about JCP also.

I have had all of mine custom made by an acquaintance. She does a great job and is less expensive the JC Penney. She has a window treatment business.

In February, I walked into JCP and told the woman that I was pathetic when it comes to window treatments but I couldn't put off buying new ones any longer as the curtains that came with the house wouldn't survive another washing.

I had my measurements and wall color samples with me and I gave her descriptions of my furniture and my style. This woman led me around to various suggestions and I found the curtains I wanted.

The formal living room looks great. The dining room looked awful. I took those back and went to Boscov's for valences. Another woman, who grew up with my ILs nonetheless, helped me and now the DR is very nice, too.

I told my mother that I finally feel like an adult since I bought and hung curtains for the first time. I actually had to change the hardware, etc., to get the look I wanted. So, at 41, I'm a grown-up. :cool1:

I thought I did such a bang up job that I got new hw for DS's room and rehung his curtains and I made new ones for my master bathroom.

If the spirit moves me, I have material for my kitchen, but I haven't had the urge to sew them yet.

35 is NOT to old to learn to sew. I started sewing just a few years ago. Basically, I can sew a straight line to hem things and to make curtains and quilts. But, I like doing it every now and then.

I have been replacing my old window coverings with Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn drapes. My ultimate goal is to have velvet and Wool for fall and winter and cotton and silk for spring and summer. I love the idea of being able to have brights for spring/summer and more subdued, heavier fabrics for fall/winter. I like having co-ordinated bedding and draperies (not matchy-matchy, but same color groups) and Pottery Barn works well for that. I know these are not custom, but I have been happy with my choices.
